    Great video! I tried looking for this Gudetama McFlurry when I visited Japan in late July 2018, but I guess the promotion was over by then. Seems like the only original thing is the cup, and this is a way McD can reuse excess materials from a previous promotion. I wish the McD's here tried more new items like they do in Japan.

    • @CriticalEatsJapan
      @CriticalEatsJapan  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, Ronld is always mixing things up and limited items sometimes come and go before you know... and they often underestimate the demand. I've missed many chances because of it :(

    I love the cups and the promotional material. That’s so cool! And of course the McFlurry looks great as well!

      I need to check out Ronald's McFlurry menu more often... I may have missed a few good ones in the past

    I like Gudetama, there is soo much merchandise for it. I thought the flavour of the McFlurry would be like a egg custard pudding Doryaki considering that the character is an egg yolk. Still loving this channel Mr! I appreciate your hard work ;)

    • @CriticalEatsJapan
      @CriticalEatsJapan  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know, but he specifically said it wasn't during the interview segment... so... Hard work? This is some hard work I really don't mind! ;)

    Well it looks good. I wonder why we don’t do any exciting new things at McDonald’s ? ( I know I say that all the time) hey McDonald’s USA you need to shake it up!!
    Dang now I need ice cream 🍦

    • @CriticalEatsJapan
      @CriticalEatsJapan  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Never? You probably have more than one flavour on your McFlurry menu to begin with. All we usually have is Oreo

    • @balindabarks785
      @balindabarks785 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Critical Eats Japan we have Oreo and M&M that’s it never changes.
      They do have hot fudge and Carmel sundaes and cones.
      I have to say McDonald’s has very good ice cream
      Do you have anything like DQ?

    • @CriticalEatsJapan
      @CriticalEatsJapan  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh wow, I thought you had a lot more. We don't have DQ though, but there are many places proud to be serving "the best" soft ice cream around ;)

      We should have more promos like this one!

      @@balindabarks785 - They do (did) rollo candy flavor McFlurry, don't know if we still have it. The McDonald's by my grandparents' house used to have Velvet ice cream. So good! Oh, and they used to do a breakfast buffet!

    • @CriticalEatsJapan

      He's big in Japan, but not so big elsewhere. Made by the Hello Kitty people

      You would think I would know him if Hello Kitty marketed him. O’ will. I love to learn things even if it’s a McDonalds character.

  • @erinuber2881

    Whatever the mystery flavor was, possibly caramel, I'm glad it was good! I was hoping for purin flavor, as I've always liked purin. I suppose that might be a bit gruesome for gudetama fans, though, because purin/flan is made from eggs! Thanks for the video, and have a great weekend! :-)

    • @CriticalEatsJapan
      @CriticalEatsJapan  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha, yeah ---he even says it's not purin in the interview... but I think this was a close second

    Gudetama is not mainstream here in LA, but is known to anime fans. He probably doesn't culturally translate as easily as things like Pokémon or One Punch Man. Another great review and nice music.

    • @CriticalEatsJapan
      @CriticalEatsJapan  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are probably right about that. I mean even the fact he is an egg yolk is actually kinda weird... But there are Gudetama stores and cafes here in Japan. Not sure what their menus look like though ;)

    • @shannonmathias3592
      @shannonmathias3592 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      There was a popup cafe in LA that was him for a little while.
      He is a rather funny Sanrio character. a lazy egg meh!

  • @JackieHerouxFoodReviews
    @JackieHerouxFoodReviews 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Looks really good. Wish they would do different flavours like that here in 🇨🇦. Every year for Easter we have the Cadbury cream egg flavour. They did come out with a butterscotch with chunks of cake and caramel called butterscotch blondie. Was good but it’s not very often new flavours are released. Great video and thank you! 😎😘🍦

    • @CriticalEatsJapan
      @CriticalEatsJapan  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Normally we only have one flavour (Oreo) to begin with here, but once in a while they bring out promotional flavours. Probably similar to the Creme egg flavour actually

    • @JackieHerouxFoodReviews
      @JackieHerouxFoodReviews 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Critical Eats Japan Ah, ok. Here there is also smarties, Oreo, maybe coffee crisp? So we don’t have it so bad than. So you mean this McFlurry tastes like cream egg I’m assuming? 😉😊

    • @JackieHerouxFoodReviews
      @JackieHerouxFoodReviews 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Critical Eats Japan Just checked McDonald’s 🇨🇦 website. There is M&Ms, Skor, Oreo & Butterscotch Blondie. Shows how often I go to McDonald’s. lol

      Me too ---still, a few more I guess

  • @tamara9186
    @tamara9186 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That sounds so good. It is hot here in Texas, and a McFlurry with cake in it and possibly caramel sounds like a really nice idea! And Gudetama is adorable.

    • @CriticalEatsJapan
      @CriticalEatsJapan  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It was good! I once had a friend who always separated her cake from her ice cream ---she couldn't even stand them touching! So this might not go down too well with her...

    • @tamara9186
      @tamara9186 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Critical Eats Japan I actually agree with your friend. In most cases, bread should NOT touch liquid. I have an absolute horror of soggy bread, but for some reason, the flurry sounds good.

      Thanks so much for the suggestion! I've missed a few limited items in the past because they sell out so fast. McDonald's is way better than Starbucks at stocking enough supplies to give you a chance at getting something, but still, better safe than sorry... ;)

    Maybe it's a caramel-flan flavor?
    Good review! 🤙

    • @CriticalEatsJapan
      @CriticalEatsJapan  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That would be a logical guess, but he said it wasn't pudding... and in Japan, pudding means flan. Though I'm not sure if they are gonna announce what it actually is or not

    • @CriticalEatsJapan
      @CriticalEatsJapan  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The size? What size are McFlurries normally?

    • @kaotic_fabel
      @kaotic_fabel 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Critical Eats Japan larger than that. Same with frosty from Wendy's. I know most people love larger sizes, but I just waste it, or hand it to someone else, but more often I just don't get it.

    That looks pretty good man. You gotta tell us once you find out the flavor.
    Question has Japan started putting touch screens to order in the McDonald's here in the US they are starting too

    • @CriticalEatsJapan
      @CriticalEatsJapan  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wonder if they will announce it at some point. I haven't seen any touch screens at any of the McD's I've visited. Other places like izakayas or conveyor sushi restaurants often have ipad devices at each table by which to order

    nihilistic egg yolk, I just shot water out my nose on that one....What is the reaction for filming in the store do you ask permission. I only ask because I am going to be vlogging more. Thanks Paul

    • @CriticalEatsJapan
      @CriticalEatsJapan  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's better to ask forgiveness than permission. I usually just do it on the sly with my gopro... that's why the footage is so unstable and I have to cut most of it ;)

  • @SGB_72

  • @thegirlchild1

    this morning with japanesestuffchannel they posted theirs was pudding flavor.. I think people like Gudetama cuz of his cute butt he shows off at times... ~nodnodnods~ thanks for another video!! and I want a happy meal toy!!!!!! ~stomping her foot~

    • @CriticalEatsJapan
      @CriticalEatsJapan  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha, yeah, they have 6 random ones you can get... I went there on the first day because in the past these things have a way of selling out quick. But I'm pretty sure this is not a pudding flavour because in the commercial where they ask Gudetama what flavour it is he says it isn't pudding. Thing is, in Japan, when you say "pudding" you are talking about a kind of custard pudding with a sort of creme brule/caramel-like sauce, so it is kinda close... though this was better ;)
