This song really hits me hard in the heart. On my 18th birthday, my mom gave me a card shaped into a butterfly, which she made by hand. Not a year later, she died from colon cancer. While this song sounds and appears like a breakup song, to me, its sound and lyrics are about me moving on from the death of my mom. She was just so perfect that the memory of her, I strive so hard to not forget, hurts. Though I don't and never will regret loving her as much as I did when she was alive and I thank God always for letting her be my mom but, it really is time for me to move on. I thank God I got to know Jesus because, really, every day felt like a struggle to survive. Now, I have this hope that I'll see her, afterall, she loves God more than she loved us. I'll see her someday. For now, I'll do my best to live. So that, when we see each other again, I'll tell her all the things I got to enjoy with the God we now both serve.
