Love this band so freaking much that it hurts! This version of Once Upon A Nightmare was even better with their 20th anniversary show two months ago. I literally was in awee, goosebumps had goosebumps, chills right down the spine and teary eyes, really I was so overwhelmed. Thank u for doing this amazing reaction my friends! Rock On!! 🤘🏻
Like others already said, this is from "The Holograohic Principle". The album version has strings. This is a stripped down version for Omega Alive in which they did not used the orchestra sound but replaced the strings with the distorded guitar. The song itself is based on the german poem "Der Erlkönig" by Goethe which in turn is based on a nordic legend.
Love Isaac he has to be one of the most under-rated guitarists on the planet. Not every Epica song requires a solo but when they are done Isaac slaughters it every time. I bow to the immense talent that is Isaac Delhaye and the almighty Epica.
What’s great about this band is after the retrospect concert their next three and most recent albums the quantum enigma, the holographic principle, and omega is when they really start to stand out as the standard of symphonic metal. As you can see Simone keeps getting better as she settles into a more natural placement and vocal style for her, and mark also starts to incorporate a lot more progressive complexity to their arrangements, as well as more death metal influence. I think you will enjoy where the journey takes you from here
Such a beautiful song. Their performance of this song along with Rivers during the 20th anniversary show was just magical. I hope they will have a DVD of the 20th anniversary show. It was so amazing.
This was one of Simone’s favorite parts of the Omega Alive recordings. The fire was kind of scary but beautiful and the guys standing around her made her feel protected.
Hi 'Once Upon a Nightmare' is from my favorite Epica album 'The Holographic Principle' released in 2016, it is album No 7 out of their 8 studio albums, other tracks that you have reacted to from this album are Beyond The Matrix, Dancing in a Hurricane and Universal Death Squad. They recorded 18 songs during The Holographic Principle recording sessions, 12 songs went on the album, the other 6 songs were released a year later as 'The Solace System' EP, I consider all 18 songs to be one big amazing album
@@fritsyt2090 Of course all 120 plus songs from Epica are topnotch! Ken je trouwens het nummer Secret Garden van de band Angra? Simone doet daar de leadvocals, geweldig nummer van een paar jaar geleden. Liep er een tijd geleden bij toeval tegenaan.
@@jaapblaauw3735 absolute no weak songs at all. Only good songs, amazing songs and masterpieces! Ik zal dat nummer eens opzoeken bedankt voor de tip Jaap!
May I address Thumbnail Lady specifically? Since you mention Simone's hair and such, I'm sure you already know but I'll point it out anyway: Simone is really into fashion and beauty, and is running her blog called Smoonstyle that she started many years ago. I don't know the faintest thing about fashion or beauty, but I think it's really cool that Simone has managed to become more or less a famous person in two different scenes, which have minimal overlap. I'm pretty sure she will sometimes have dragged her friends from the fashion world along to her concerts. Imagine some of those people not really knowing what kind of music their friend is involved with, and showing up essentially blind to an Epica concert! To be a fly on the wall there ...
Hi Guys I like the video of Tarja and Ralf from Primal Fear singing I'll be gone Acoustic. You should reactvto Simone singing The River. Simone sounds like an Angel sometimes.
One of the best guitarist of the millenium

Your welcome Frits! Rock on brother
It's impossible to me see the video without feeling any kind of emotion... So beautiful!
Always cry like a baby when she sings this🫣.. there is so much feel to this. I love this song.

Goosebumps everywhere
I wasn't impressed with this song when I first listened to the album but this version just blew my mind and now I love it

My favorite power ballad from my absolute favorite band for years now, they are legends in the making!!
They are absolute legends!!
They've been "legends in the making" for over 20 years. I'd say they've made it to "legend" class! :)
the bursts of emotions in this one are out of this world. One of my favorite songs ever.
Well said!

The original song is from their 2016 album The Holographic Principle. Here on Omega Alive they changed the intro of the song.
Next patreon request song from the magnificent album The Holographic Principle: Ascension - Dream State Armageddon. Good choice? 🤘🏻

This song is one long goosebump.
Glad you enjoyed this one. My absolute favorite slow song by Epica, and this performance is pure haunting magic.
Great reaction this song is so beautiful.
Thank you!!
This is my fav Epica power ballad.
Im 60, Epica beats the hell out of everything
Good call!!
Pure magic
As usually, don't forget to listen to the album version too. It's quite different from this one. You can find one with on-screen lyrics. 🙂

I dont get why this song, especially this live version, gets left out by so many reactors.
Epica blank infinity live
They already did it
