      +jeeenah1 Autumn Leaves is a classic jazz tune but it's usually played with a swing triplet feel. Listen to a recording by Joe Pass or Bill Evans.

      +QGVideos This sounds like Band-In-The-Box, correct?

      +DucksDeLucks yes, I am a huge bill Evans fan, my dad played and sounded just like him. But I like this funky version as well. I in fact have my own arrangement of watts for Debby

    Probably the best bass play-along that exists on TH-cam. A great feel, the chord changes -- what more can a student of bass ask? Well done and thank you for your love of music.

    Dude, I just played on this five times in a row. Your piano playing is great! Endless harmonic openings. Kudos to you. This is a joy to play to. I may have to post some video of me blowing on it.

    This is sweet. I'm d/l this and I don't even really play jazz. But I am going to play along with this! hahahha

    • @TruthSurge
      @TruthSurge 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      This was fun but I learned a few things. 1, I kind of suck and 2, you can almost stay in E min except for that E maj to almost an Eb aug part.

    • @na15464
      @na15464 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      TruthSurge start trying to play the e minor scale from different starting points and you'll be discovering the modes. eventually start looking at every chord as its own scale. when you see the am7 chord start on the A note (the 4th note of the e minor scale) and play in 3rds, and you'll be seeing the arpeggios. then you can start figuring out what sounds good over what.

    • @TruthSurge
      @TruthSurge 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      alek peed I know all that in my head. Just don't have it mapped out very well in my mind on the fretboard and I didn't learn the chords well enough to know what chord was coming so all that... means I won't be doing any jazz tunes anytime soon. hehe I also don't feel comfortable going to new scales in the same fret position. A few I can but then ALSO there are scales or modes I'm not as familiar with. I've mostly played rock stuff which tends to remain in the same key.

    • @na15464
      @na15464 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      TruthSurge whether you play jazz or not, just keep practicing the chords/scales/modes over and over, slowly, until it becomes natural. and i know what you mean about going to new scales in the same position. i myself am just getting over that. my natural instinct is to move to the root of the next one with my index or middle finger (if its a major or minor).
      even with rock you can play the modes and arpeggios, as long as you know what chord you're on. you can set any video on here to play at half speed with the audio (same pitches) and practice like that. just take your time, whatever genre you pursue, and it will become more natural.

    • @TruthSurge
      @TruthSurge 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      alek peed nope. My vids don't offer any options for speed. That may be YT spanking me for having COPYRIGHT VIOLATIONS on my channel. I don't care. Fuck youtube.
      Thanks for the comments. I have Reaper. I can d/l the audio via Camtasia (since YT also wants to fuck people over by not letting them d/l vids now) and I can bring that audio into Reaper and play it at whatever speed/pitch I want. So, I'm set. I've been tinkering with tapping inside mostly the pentatonic shapes and then throw in some scale notes (the 2 and 6) now and then. As long as the key doesn't change, I know my way around ok. Key change and I'm like arg, think, think. haha

    Nice indeed. At the fourth bar from the end (after the chromatic slide down) i think you play something like a C maj7, which i prefer to the printed F# semi-dim. Thanks.

    The falling leaves drift by my window
    The autumn leaves of red and gold
    I see your lips, the summer kisses
    The sunburned hands, I used to hold
    Since you went away, the days grow long
    And soon I'll hear old winter's song
    But I miss you most of all, my darling
    When autumn leaves start to fall
    Since you went away, the days grow long
    And soon I'll hear old winter's song
    But I miss you most of all, my darling
    When autumn leaves start to fall
    Yes, I miss you most of all, my darling
    When autumn leaves start to fall

      +Lee Soyayi Hey Lee! Actually the tune is in E minor. That's the chord where the music "rests" at the end of each section.

    Dude what the hell are those chord voicings on the piano I'm gonna have to go put down my horn and get on the piano and figure it out
