My mom had this car for over 16 years (1995-2011), same engine, but in beautiful purple colour. She really loved it, but then the rust came and she had to put it to the junkyard. But we only had good memories with this car it never broke down, I grew up with it and had my first driving experience with it. So this Video is very nostalgic for me. 😄👍🏻

My grandpa has a 30 year old MK2 GTI bought in 1990 brand new from the factory just in the year where they were rolling out their last models of them, and 33 years later car is still pretty much alive lol but has minor turbulence in first and second gear lol
The glovebox opening up had me laughing for a straight minute!! Also this would be a great video for a mechanics class: try to name every problem after hearing it LOL!!
last torque engine ever in production, owner of a lupo 1.4 8v 60cv, smooth, silent, reliable as hell, low fuel consumption, and when learned how to use torque, even also a fun ride with lupo low weight.
Strong solid cars these Mk3's, best Generation of Golfs. The engines were pure perfection, too bad the rust ate up most of them. We have a 95' Mk3 and a 99' A8 D2. In terms of reliability, both are expectional, but the Audi has less rust issues since it has the ASF(Audi Space Frame). Awesome video!
@@josepedrojose6522 You have your opinion bro but we've got 2 of these Golfs with the same engine and one has like 500000km and runs great while the other one has like 337000km and runs great. Ok. Thats a good mark. But 60hp for a 1.4 it's not much. A Toyota 1.3 petrol engine did 2 million kms without open it, but after 200 oil changes and 20 timing belts. In 1992 my father has to buy a Golf mark3 1.4 but i told him to buy a Nissan Sunny 1.4 16v 86hp, and now i have a Golf mark5 1.4 fsi which is a slow car.

Golf 3 looks all just right. i had a Volkswagen Golf 3 Tdi for more than a year, it was easy & good to drive. The steering is more direct and the seating feels like elevated, just right for a daily driver. the Tdi is a great dieselengine, the Golf 3 overall very durable & reliable. i would add some controlls on that steeringwheel, one for a Tempomat ("cruise control") and some for the radio. a headupdisplay would be good too. That tdi doesnt burn much diesel, spares money and co². if i was going to buy a car, it would probably be a Golf 3 Tdi. a Golf 3 VR6 with a turbo would be intetesting too, that thing would safely do 600+hp on the wheels.
A Golf 3 is gonna be my first car... I just like them... they Look good, the engines are good, and they're easy to repair... only the rust is a bit problematic... but nearly every car from the 90s has rust problems...
