the Yakuza series is like a Martin Scorsese crime drama getting interrupted by a Simpsons episode. Except 5, where the interruption is interrupted by a baseball drama.
So, a cool real story, I tried Yakuza 0 out of curiosity at the beginning of the year. It was my first Yakuza game. At the same time, I was in a pretty dark moment of my life, everything I did wasn't working out well, I was really depressed. After playing it though, the activities and stories in the game made me realize how meaningful a person's life is. Like Maxor said in the video, side quests, activities, and the main plot in this game combined together for a really true to life and well-realized experience. You get to see all the highs and lows of almost everybody you meet. Enemies become friends, and friends can become enemies. It really shows the grey area of humanity, not just moral, but relationships and accomplishments as well, you don't have to either completely hate or love a person, sometimes you respect one's goal but not the means, sometimes you see your own achievement as a dead end, sometimes you work to your limit but it's not enough, and all of that is okay. It's no exaggeration that this game helped me get through a tough time, reminded and made me realize a lot of things that were clouded by anxiety and depression. I rate it 10/10, and giving it a life-changing medal.
Something like that happened ti me but with persona 4 (my first persona game) which conveniently led me to watch anime... and turned me into a weeb, but hey depression was gone for good
I hope you're doing okay, and wish you the best. I was in a similar situation myself, though not as dark, as it was just minor school-related blues. My friend bought me Yakuza 0, hoping it would cheer me up, and yeah, I guess it did. It took me a few days to beat the main story, and I'm still playing the side content to this day, it's like a personal form of therapy for me.
Same. I got surgery and was feeling down and always heard of the series and thought it was the traditional mob game so i thought id play it while i was recovering and fell in love. Damn near laughed my guts out from the sidequests and had a great time when i was alone finally. Beat them all and even did guides for the Japanese version years down the line. Havent teared up since metal gear solid back in the days over a game never thought i would over certain karaoke songs out of everything haha Kiryu really helped me out. love ya hope youre doing good
Beast style's effectiveness depends entirely on how much furniture is in the area. If there's a lot around it's god tier. If you're out in the middle of the street, it's abysmal.
Yakuza games are great. The side stuff is like a cartoon, then the main story is Scorcese level deadly serious mob stories, and both parts are equally good. Yakuza 7's story almost made me cry near the end, and that was a game where they switched genres to parody Dragon Quest. I played one game, and immediately went and got the rest of the series.
The cabaret club "mini"game took years off of my life span from stress, luckily at a moments notice I could chose to violently assault people instead to relieve the agony of failing to be the greatest legal pimp in Japan; this is the magic of videogames, now I don't have to try this IRL!
@@elcobra98 I liked it for a while, but the difficulty goes up insanely, especially the last grand prix where the opponent is getting fever and money so fast that it feels unfair, like if you don't have constant fever going then you don't even stand a chance
@@thesyndrome43 Club Moon seems pretty freakin' RNG, honestly. The first time I went up against him, he whooped me by 14m yen. Second time, I got 30m more than him with the exact same line-up of girls that I had the first time.
@@qrowing Idk I just won against him yesterday, first try. Pretty sure I got lucky but I also made sure to max the 8 hostesses, and put the 3 gold hostesses with best stamina stats. Be sure to use the party fever when needed, and always try to extend sessions so you gift your girls to boost their HP further. Other than that....someone spoiled me the fight against Moon's leader was kinda diffy for newcomers...so I stacked on slime guns. Almost felt like I was sinning.
Are we gonna ignore that if the guy on the right had a scar over one of his eyes and had sunglasses on he'd be an IRL version of one of the antagonists from Y7?
Yakuza 0 is an absolute masterpiece and easily places in the top 5 of my favorite games ever. If it sounded interesting to ANYONE reading this, then play it. This franchise's growing popularity is still nowhere near as widespread as it deserves to be.
Out of all the chicago reacts members, i would prefer it if Kit, specifically, plays this game xD I think it has elements of humor that he will enjoy greatly
Basically, Kiryu's Brawler style is a balanced style, with unrefined street fighting techniques, having a good balance between power and speed Rush style is the speed style, with boxing techniques, fast attacks and multiple dodges and weaves, but not much power. Beast style is the power style, with unga bunga slow, but powerful attacks, capable of tearing through groups of enemies with ease, as he can also automatically grab a nearby weapon and attack with it when you press the Square button near a weapon, but sucks in 1v1 fights and bosses. It also has the Resist Guard, which instead of blocking, he just stands in a resisting position and takes the blows with reduced damage. He can't be stunned that way, and some of the heat actions require him to take some blows while Resist Guarding to activate.
Upgraded it's the easiest low-skill way to cheese every boss in the game. Even the climax battle where you have to fight every boss in the game without healing is pretty easy if you just use Beast and go square-square-triangle until they die, you dont stagger and you outdamage them.
Idea for a reaction series is Wayneradiotv (creator of HLVRAI, which I saw you guys react to) with his new series Half Life Alyx but the Gnome is Alive, it’s similar to HLVRAI but in the newer Half Life game, and I think it would work well for your guys’ channel.
Kangaroos are absolutely badass. Do not fight one, you will die. On a related note, if you happen to see a kangaroo standing in water, stay the hell away because it can and probably will drown you if you get too close
This is the only crime game that's publicly endorsed by the syndicate it's based on. The irl Yakuza have said this is how it is, both serious and silly

Kiryu at it again, shattering skulls and the frames of the video
Kiryu's beast mode is actually ridiculous.
The ability to power through just about everything an enemy throws at you will always reign supreme.
it's also the worst fighting style in the game
@@Graknorke nah, dragon style is pretty shit in this game. aside from the godly theme and circle counter its the worst

I say Kira should give Yakuza 0 a shot, tutorials exist for a reason so she'll be fine :)
Reminder for the crew; give her a controller, from day 1! It'd be intuitive af!
I once heard someone describe the Yakuza games as the bastard offspring of Street Fighter and Katamari Damacy.
The strangest, yet somehow most appropriate combination.
