  • Squier Affinity Precision PJ bass 2021
Squier Affinity precision bass. we compare the 2020 model to the 2021 model. Subtle differences, the 2021 Squier Afinity has new colours, no affinity logo on the headstock, gloss headstock and hotter pickups. Apart from that it's almost identical to the 2020 Squier Affinity P Bass.
The Squier Affinity PJ bass comes with familiar territory with its 9.5" fretboard radius and C shaped neck profile. Fretboard-wise the Squier Affinity PJ bass has the option for maple or laurel. I really like laurel as it looks like Rosewood and feels great.
A PJ bass to me is the most versatile. I love the Precision pickup growl but having the added Jazz pickup makes the bass guitar so much more versatile. That's what makes this Squier Affinity PJ bass great, it's so much instrument for so little money, and we've even used it on tracks which we've released.
With 20 frets, a synthetic nut and 45-105 strings as standard this Squier Affinity PJ bass should be right at home with other bass guitars you've played. The colours on this range seem to be getting better every year too.
I've had Squier Precision bass guitars of various specs for over 20 years now and they keep getting better. This Squier Affinity PJ bass is the best Squier bass I've ever played and that goes for every modern one I've tried. You could definitely keep this Squier Affinity PJ bass forever and maybe not even bother changing the pickups.

Recently got a white one with maple neck. Love it, use p and j pick up together. Thinner neck feels very comfortable. Just ordered a lake placid blue with laurel fretboard. Just in case I'm in a white or blue mood😂 .
The lighter body makes the whole thing comfortable and balances well with a strap. Fantastic bass for £200, wish these had been around in the 70s when I started playing.
Great review, so many reviewers are more interested in showing off their chops rather than actually reviewing the instrument.

Both sound great! But the 21 definitely looks and sounds better! That gunmetal grey looks so good!. Really wanna get a bass and this only adds to that haha. Great video guys! As always!

I’ve had a usa fender jazz for the past 25 years or more since new and it’s been the best bass I’ve ever had 😎 also just recently got a Tony Franklin signature fender fretless P/J bass that’s he’s customised years ago with a pickup switch like they have in guitars 😆🤘these bass guitars you guys have been showing sound great on a budget though! Thanks for the review. I’m looking into helping my student get one today with a Fender Rumble 15watt. I know how that it’ll be a great little starter combo rig :) thanks again 😎

    Brilliant demo lads👍
I've had my 2021 (black with all maple neck) for 3 weeks & I'm chuffed with it.
I run it through an Eden WTDI and it sounds epic.
I initially bought it just to haul to and from rehearsals (and the occasional, dodgy gig). Something I dare not do with my Aerodyne, Warwick or custom EB-3.
Really solid, well constructed, well balanced and cheap as chips.
I will be shielded the cavity when I get the chance (to remedy the slight buzz).

I have same bass, that is a jazz neck. Measure it with inch ruler stick
    Jazz bass necks are 1 1/2" and 1 5/8"
    P bass necks are 1 3/4"
These basses have 1 5/8" neck nut width making it a Jazz neck.
    They call it 1.625"

I've got two squire strats that have a lot of flame on the neck. Seems odd for it being the base model.

I have an issue with mine where when I have both p and j pickups turned up all the way I get a pretty noticible volume cut and lose a lot of low end as well, which is annoying me to no end (wish I noticed this at the pawn shop when buying but I didn't) I keep reading online that this is probably the pickups being out of phase with each other and that I should switch the wiring of one pickup to resolve. Was wondering about your opinion since you have the same bass?

      @PherotoneStudios  2 ปีที่แล้ว

I’ve had that on a couple of PJ basses including the current one. It doesn’t seem to be an out of phase issue but I also haven’t been able to resolve it. Please let me know if you find a fix as I haven’t managed so far

I recommend using one pickup at a time for best tone, either use jazz pickup or split P bass pickup, with tone wide open!

Just ran into this, I know it's two years old... I have same issue with the same bass, you need to tweak both volumes till you get peak output from both. With mine, turn both to max, then turn down the J volume a bit, to get max output.

Does anyone know if you can swap necks from the 2021 Squier affinity to like an official mim neck?

Bought the Jazz version of that 2021 model and the neck relief was just shocking and took an awful lot of truss rod adjusting to resolve. Still not sure it’s quite right.

Make truss rod measurements and adjustments slowly over a long period of time. It takes time for the truss rod in neck and the string tension to find equilibrium.
