Deep Purple was one of the first bands which were an inspiration for me to play bassguitar. Roger Glover is a fantastic bassplayer! It’s always in the groove together with Ian Paice on drums. Black Night has got a really steady rockgroove in the beginning of each Verse and under the huitar and Hammond solo’s. In the second half of the Verse Roger plays some fantastic melodic licks with slides and quarter triplets (bar 18 and bar 42). Listen for instance at bars 17-24 or at bars 41-48. In Verse 3 he plays a fast triplet lick in bar 96!

i have the same bass! It's awesome! mine is round wound equipped but I must admit that flat wounds are stunning

I congratulate both of us with such a fine bass!! I once bought a new P Bass when I was about 18. Stupid enough I sold it… I’m so glad that I was able to buy this bass (used) about 15 years ago. Flats do the thing on this bass! But round wounds are also great!
