This set contains like 80% of the drum and bass bangers of my youth. Still in love with it and I'm 40 now. Metalheadz got some good stuff out nowadays though. Vibes.
Source Direct- Complexities one of my favourite tunes, people are barely moving. I think the difference is a lot of tunes back then really evolved over 8-9 minutes and the music was allowed to breath. The best DJ's always took you on a journey, they knew when to tease a tune quickly, or let a mix evolve. They could build a set, drop something absolutely insane, take it back down and build it up again, but the crowds responded to it. It was all about contrast light and dark, and that was always reflected too in Headz releases. You'd get one side that was pure Bluenote, the other would have something downtempo. It's a musical skill that's being totally overlooked as a lot of sets are now relentless. I can't imagine many DJ's reaching the first breakdown let alone that iconic second drop that Dillinja always did so well.
Couldn't have said it better man.... especially that part about knowing when to let the music breathe and evolve or when to put the foot down and drop something

In the end, back to the Free Jazz Festival in Brazil, 1997, Goldie Live with Diane singing...massive memories. Diane will be always in my heart. Wicked set Mr. GOLDIE!
Excellent set. The crowd don't exactly look like they appreciate the music though sadly. That said, back in '93 I stumbled into a DnB club on Bristol Street in Birmingham in a tie because I couldn't get into the Dome over the road, and I looked as lost as this lot at first. Turns out it was LTJ Bukem and cost 8 quid and haven't looked back. Maybe the same will be true for some of these folk. I lost the tie by the way and just looked at what the rest were doing, and started bouncing around.
So so true, I used to play reading central club circa 2001, I played hard house in the smaller room, main room was d&b DJ dopeski ran it start /part of liquid, I have watched this man mix from 10 feet away, not only was he excellent the crowd was a thousand times more receptive, much respect Goldie🤘👍😎
When he drops Metropolis I just get the impression there's not a person in the world that loves this music more than he does. Total legend. It's a lesson in DJing rather than titting about with a mixer.
This painful to watch. Goldie awesome as ever, a true pioneer for the scene who has been there since the very early days, playing these classics to a bunch of hipsters with apparently no idea about what they’re listening to! First tune he drops the classic Bukem Atlantis and not a hint of recognition from anyone when the main loop comes in. If they were real drum and bass / jungalists they would have gone nuts the second they heard that. Fuck that, Goldie deserves better, a lot better. Hope he charged them a fortune.
@perfectlymiste the whole point has gone way over your head quite clearly. The point is these people are posers, pretending to enjoy something they clearly don't just to look cool and part of a big scene. If you don't get it then go learn what these morons are because they are gaining in numbers

What an artist. Britain really does produce some amazing talent. Big Shout from the US. Loving Goldie and also other various UK based electronic acts like The Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, Sqaurepusher, Faithless, Burial, Aphex Twin, Underworld, Massive Attack, Stereo MCs, Orbital, Four Tet, UNKLE, The Streets, FSOL, The Bug, ALLFLAWS
Goldie dished out primo bangers for a crowd that was clueless for an hour. Kids today are all about seen and be scene. Fucking sad. It should have been a wave of people losing their minds. They are too worried about fashion and status. I miss the warehouses where people truly floated and let go.
Yes yes Goldie loads of respect for the man I'm 46 now and been into the scene since the late 80s/early 90s nice tune selection..shit crowd..and some shocking mixing going on Bruvva!!..but nice to see him behind a set of decks even if they ain't 1210's..😉
Can’t help but analyse what the crowd are doing. Seems like there are a handful of people really enjoying themselves and the music. Can’t help noticing in clubs I’ve been to in recent years that the crowd gets bored really easily. As if they only want snippets of tunes and lots of drops, rather than being taken on a bit of a journey. Even without cameras people often stand around and pose without dancing. Maybe I’m just being cynical?
Could not stop popping since Adam f metropolis let alone the beginning beauty with LTJ bukem. I had a chance to check out that goldie21 timeless release remastered oh my God what a ear treat that is I can see I missed a lot and he helped me come back to check it out this genre
I think he tends to play what's been released from his label which is how he's always played his sets so not surprising it's mainly Metalheadz classics. There's still alot of high quality dnb being produced older fans would enjoy. I mix techno and dnb and the dnb sets tend to get more plays. I was also around when dnb blew up when there were far less producers so excitement about new tracks was higher as there were less of them and everything was new. A recent study suggested people stop checking for new music after 40 so if your 54 and still checking for techno your doing better than most....
Hahaha, thanks for the reply. Yes I still listen to a lot of techno and always listen to the DJ Hype show on Kiss. I am always on the look out for new music, so I guess age haven´t changed me much yet. BTW, do you know if Hype´s show on kiss radio was cancelled? , cause I am in the caribbean and used to listen to the show at DNBshare page and since June they haven´t uploaded anymore shows.
Krishna Taveras no worries. Ive no idea about Hypes shows but I think he has a SoundCloud page, you are welcome to check my Mixcloud page if you want to hear new dnb or techno, I do the odd special mix of older stuff but mainly the sets are current singles m.mixcloud.com/Glasgow_Kiss/ Cheers!
I have bad news. The study says its age 30 lol must be my old age and bad memory kicking in im 43, www.iflscience.com/brain/we-stop-discovering-new-music-at-a-certain-age-heres-why/. Its only a small survey on a single platform however..
Damn for the fact that 80% of that crowd was like 10 or younger when these tracks came out is hilarious.... However, GOLDIE was playing BANGER AFTER BANGER...
I would love to split the venue in half one side a crowd from the 90's and the other crowd from the present day just to see the reactions would be a great experiment :-)
Back in the day, the would have gone into orbit. I remember seeing Goldie live and many others. There were a few promoters down here that bought many of the big names. I remember it all.
Intelligent dnb always throws people off until they here those familiar sounds then they start rocking🕺🕺🕺🕺💃🏽🤳👯♀️🤩🤪🤩🤪😜😝🤓 oh my gosh this takes me back to the 90’s glad I was there at the start 🤪🤪👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

old skool jungle by the man like goldie...take me back.
drum and bass in 2018 is hipsters drinking beer out of wine glasses on youtube 03:42
Word...lol
I bet its an Artisan Beer too with a hint of coriander!
@@kriskringle583 hahahahaha so true
How can you not put your hands up and shout the second he drops in Metropolis?
It still sounds forward to me.
Adam F was a serious down with this track...still in my top ten all time. It's got it all....thry won't beat that in 2098
You sound backwards!!!
Same thought. I went nuts in front of my phone, that crowd is just frozen.
lot of hate on the comments cause of the crowd...just chill and enjoy...everyone has their own way to enjoy music...peace
oui c'est le mash up temporel
I’m sorry but literally standing still is not how you “enjoy music”
X'oaki Fthagmnom very true
@@chenugent do you need to be dancing like crazy to show to other guys that you're actually enjoying the mix? I don't think that's necesary, I'm laying in my couch smoking a big joint and drinking a coffee and listening god doing what he knows as best, do you think i'm not enjoying it?
@@julianmarinoramos2302 maybe we are just different, when im sat at home on my own listening to some dnb and an absolute stonker comes on i will literally move my arms and shout. Your bodily gestures usually reflect how much you are enjoying something. maybe some people are just more animated than others
what can you say Goldie is the dogs cracking set but what i enjoyed is that he is not tweeking the controls on his mixer like he has pulled a jimi hendrix guitar solo off so many do it these days make me want to smash there mixer up hahaha just watch this and try and be cool no need to showboat if your good enough
mchogi mchogi yeah word. Those hand flairs from turning up the trims are so stupid
Yeah man 99% of the time if they're doing all that pointless knob twiddling then it's a pre-recorded set. Mixmag has loads of that, the worst one I saw was Alison Wonderland, so embarrasing, everyone knows you're not mixing love!!!
Can't stand all the wanky knob twiddling - especially when it seems to make difference to the sound! Fucking pointless.
Nice one Goldie - proper all school mixing.
Better still, get the test presses and acetetes out.
CDJs are not as good looking as SL 1200s
No wasted motion. True professional
King
Urban Style Music - Lemon D at 8:10.
Goldie is the Truth, bless
This set took me back to blue note Sunday sessions
Mind you we would of shouted out for a lot of rewinds with this set
Oh and giving into the vibes
Much love and respect
One lov Goldie!
Oh my days, the opening notes of this set gave me goosebumps!
Love you Goldie! Having so much nostalgia from this mid nineties memories or rather feelings flooding back in…
WOW! That moment when he played "Rollers Instinct" around the 20th minute is pure gold.
Some absolute classic tracks here. Heat by Wax Doctor has got to be up there with one of the very best deep jungle tracks. The true junglists know 🙌
Big Up Goldie still putting it down after more than 28 years ! ! ! MetalHeadz Cru U.K 2 L.A
I'm Brazilian and for me Goldie is always going to be the best
This is 10x more enjoyable not having to look at the crowd man
Wish more than anything I could meet Goldie and just have shared time with someone I respect more than words can say. Hes more then a man and less then a god. It would be such an honor to just hear ur stories and be in the presence of the KING! Props bruv truly..
Not one junglist in sight
guerilla bass records
these maggots dont know real music
Just stumbled across this. So many bangers. Well impressed he played them to this crowd
Goldie vs the Millennials.
Arent millenials the age group who grew up listening to Goldie?
Gowan..😀😀😀
@@KNURKonesur his first album was in the 90s mate; drum and bass was booming back then but dropped off later so no the comment is very accurate and funny
@ennisjones im literally 17 and i listens to goldie's music this comment has no statistic evidence to even bass it off from
Im 32 now and just found out im a millenial. Yeah millenials grow up with goldie and moving shadow. But im still too late. Greetings from germany
What an artist. Britain really does produce some amazing talent. Big Shout from the US.
Loving Goldie and also other various UK based electronic acts like
The Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, Sqaurepusher, Faithless, Burial, Aphex Twin, Underworld,
Massive Attack, Stereo MCs, Orbital, Four Tet, UNKLE, The Streets, FSOL, The Bug, ALLFLAWS
Did I see people drinking Rose??? Rose whilst listening to DnB??? Things just ain't the same....
Must of run out of Red Stripe 👍
Rosé all day! You must be boring and only drink light beer. hahaha
Rose & DnB actually sounds like a pretty good combo, all that's missing is a spliff.
Right!
people can drink or smoke whatever
Goldie absolute legend. I remember when Timeless dropped. The stuff he did with Rob Playford; he started a whole new era.
Goldie dished out primo bangers for a crowd that was clueless for an hour. Kids today are all about seen and be scene. Fucking sad. It should have been a wave of people losing their minds. They are too worried about fashion and status. I miss the warehouses where people truly floated and let go.
Those days are long gone my friend
Голди красавчег! Виделся с ним в Шерике в 2012г., потом в Филине в Сургуте. Классный парень! Привет ему!
Yes yes Goldie loads of respect for the man I'm 46 now and been into the scene since the late 80s/early 90s nice tune selection..shit crowd..and some shocking mixing going on Bruvva!!..but nice to see him behind a set of decks even if they ain't 1210's..😉
Mmmg !! The dilious sound of GOLDIE ! Jealous of each and every one listened to his bits live !! Such a sound and music love ! A true legend )))
Oh my! how crowds have changed. People would be raving to this back in the day.
this dude is the king of all kings. Mad respect!! this took me way back. absolutely timeless!!
I loved it so much I have no words.
This is probably the best Jungle set ever played!!!
Omg if I was there I'd be dancing sooo hard!!!
GOLDIE STILL WICKED!
THAT WAS EPIC!🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Sir Goldie!! The knight for the night. A world treasure
Interesting study. I’m 47 and listen to new music EVERY day!! 😀
I have bad news. The study says its age 30 lol must be my old age and bad memory kicking in im 43, www.iflscience.com/brain/we-stop-discovering-new-music-at-a-certain-age-heres-why/. Its only a small survey on a single platform however..
Glasgow Kiss I followed your mixcloud, great page, going to give it a listen.
Pure form. The rollers, classics, the jams. Excellent.
Damn for the fact that 80% of that crowd was like 10 or younger when these tracks came out is hilarious....
However, GOLDIE was playing BANGER AFTER BANGER...
Had the honour of seeing him play in Toronto a couple of days ago , great night. Anyone got the track ID for that banger at 46:50 tho?
Photek - fusion
“No Mr. Bond i expect you to dance.”
Pure legend. So many years and still feelin' it.
J'adore Goldie ! It"s always perfect ! So goooood !
I would love to split the venue in half one side a crowd from the 90's and the other crowd from the present day just to see the reactions would be a great experiment :-)
Put me on the 90’s side…thanks
He's amazing, a living legend
Thank you for the clarity I needed right now.
*THE LEGEND!!!*
Back in the day, the would have gone into orbit. I remember seeing Goldie live and many others. There were a few promoters down here that bought many of the big names. I remember it all.
Just as i was doubting him 12:00 comes along
So amazing all my favourites from the art core days and other classics
Intelligent dnb always throws people off until they here those familiar sounds then they start rocking🕺🕺🕺🕺💃🏽🤳👯♀️🤩🤪🤩🤪😜😝🤓 oh my gosh this takes me back to the 90’s glad I was there at the start 🤪🤪👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I envy you :)
Goldie, bro, thank you for this beautiful set. got a lot of memories.
