    the key to ANY ship surviving critical damage is redundancy.... definitely important for warships as they NEED to be able to stay in a fight... that's why more than one power area and two types of thrusters is always a good idea... burying a jump drive DEEP in the ship for emergency evacs... empty spaces filled with charged batteries so you can recharge a jump drive fast if need be... the list of options goes on.. pretty sure you can STILL use a large hydrogen tank if you set up the area right... and knowing what blocks deform is obviously good to know too...

      Yes it's possible to do with big hydrogen tanks but best done with very large ships where you got the room plus the added armor for thickness. For medium larg block ships this can help tremendously.

    Something interesting that pertains to this is the fact that small hydrogen tanks themselves are also non-deforming. They also only do about 5 steel plates worth of damage to non-deforming blocks around them. This means that one can stack the small hydrogen tanks one right next to each other to create a more fuel-dense version of a baffled hydrogen system.

      Could but the risk of chain explosions is too great this is the middle ground build that gives you both safety and energy density.

    I love the colour pattern on these vessels of yours. Not sure if you did it just to show up for the video, but I think they're quite effective dazzle camouflage. The bright red rounded head of the ship is certainly a distracting target, as opposed to the rest of its more subtle colour pattern. I bet it would be hard to hit these where you wanted to.

      Their not mine but the ship is in the workshop if you want I can do a review of it sometime as it's one of the top ten star trek ships.

    Definitely gonna be incorporating this idea into some of my Trek ship builds

    Informative vid. Appreciate ya. One recommendation is to cut back your mic feed. The audio max clipping was distracting.

      Thanks I'm still learning this stuff so any advice I have the skill to use is appreciated.

    great video, i assumed having my tank in a heavy armor box would do enough but this seems a lot more effective, looks like im going to be doing another rework on a few of my designs

      It would but then you have to contend with weight.

    I needed this video and have been having trouble trying to make a good hydrogen system for my ship about to add this I'm inspired now

    would catwalks also work down the middle instead of half corridor pieces? that way you can still repair the tanks but also keep it looking symetrical

    Is there a significant disadvantage to just having O2/H2 generators instead small tanks? they are the same size

      @DeepCZero3 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Youll end up needing a huge qty of ice which will increase your ships mass and make it hard to maneuver. Also, h2/o2 gen without tanks gives you a maximum of 25% of the maximum capable thrust of your hydro thrusters.
      It world work, sure, and if your ship were small enough that amount of thrust might be plenty, but not typical of a full fledged warship.

    Cant you use more hydrogen tanks in the center conveyor line since they dont get damaged?

    • @badgerwildgaming6908
      @badgerwildgaming6908  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That is a central line that is there for fuel movement only. If it goes down where ever its at you could lose one or all your tanks, tanks that can be auto targeted but the conveyors cant.
