JumpStart 3rd Grade - Intro 1
ฝัง
- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 25 ก.ย. 2008
- Part #1 of the opening to one of my all time favorite PC games, JumpStart Adventures 3rd Grade: Mystery Mountain.
I loved this game when I was a kid. Its rare when a game meant to educate you is so much fun. For those who also grew up playing it, I hope you enjoy this bit of nostalgia. I cant believe after all these years it still works. Awesome. 8D
This game had a sci-fi theme to it. The plot was that Polly Spark, the bratty daughter of a scientist, used her dad's time machine to send 25 robots into the past to screw up time. You, the player, had to help a friendly robot named Botley rescue the other robots and stop Polly from making the world really weird. I had forgotten how long the introduction was. This also includes the memory game you had to play to get into the mountain.
This game and its characters are NOT mine.
They are (c) Knowledge Adventure, Inc.
Special thanks to my brother for helping me record this.
This was one of my favorite games as a kid. I'm 25 and tempted to play again haha
Lmao, same here
I'm 23 and wish I still had the cd XD I'd play it in a second
SAME!!
if you are desperate enough im sure you can find it online somewhere!! luckily i still have my copy xD
It still works on Windows 7...
I'm playing it again now.
I swear this game was harder than some rated T and M games they make nowadays.
innegativeion I know this is a 4 year old comment but games rated T and M has nothing to do with the difficulty of a game. It's just there to let you know what age you have to be to play a certain video game due to some of them having harsh language, blood and violence.
It's not exactly hard so much as it's just really long.
Menart D I'm not sure. Do you think kids would be able to play games like the Devil May Cry series at such a young age without worrying about difficulty if the developers took out the M rated material? I think it might be a bit too much in terms of skill requirement.
innegativeion agreed
I remember when my sister and I played this game.
"Please enter and have a seat. Sit up straight, no slouching in this classroom." My sister was slouching.
"Is that GUM in your mouth?" I jumped because I had gum.
THIS GAME WAS SO FUCKING HARD
Lisa Siehl truuu
i remember loving this game, but it always gave me anxiety
I'm 28 years old and I want to play this game again. It was my favorite as a kid.
"An orangutan has just been elected President of the United States in a landside!"
Aside from the landslide part...OH MY GOD. BOTLEY'S PREDICTION CAME TRUE!!! WE'RE ALL GONNA DIE!!!!
He shouldn't have won at all given 3 million voted against him.
@John T. Deck It should be. The Electoral System is stupid. It pretty much just says "The opinions of the masses don't mean shit".
@@22kingdomheartsfan It means that about 10 large states can't tell the other 40 what to do.
@@Nonamearisto Hillbillies shouldn't get disproportionate representation just because they live in flyover states. People matter more than arbitrary state borders.
@@waffleocalypse First, state borders aren't usually arbitrary. With the exception of a few rectangular states in the Great Plains and out West, most states run along rivers, mountains, forest lines, etc.
As for the whole appeal to a high-sounding ideal in the pursuit of power, the whole "people" argument becomes meaningless to the side which makes it the moment it no longer serves their needs. Vermont combined with New Hampshire have twice the weight of Texas in the Senate, but do leftists ever whine about that?
I JUST REMEMBERED THIS GAME FROM SO LONG AGO I LOVE MY LIFE
I FEEL THE EXACT SAME WAY AS YOU DO!
:D
:D!!!!! I want to play it very badly now.. lol
I wish I could but I lost the disc :'(
OMG so did i.. but that was years and years ago. I am almost tempted to buy another one. haha
Fun fact. The person who voiced Botley also did the voice of Carl Foutley on As Told By Ginger.
I didn't know that when I was younger
I thought his voice sounded familiar!
STICH666 Now that I see this comment, yeah, they do sound alike.
You mean Jeannie Elias?
@@coca-colachic6421 She was also the voice of Becky in the Garfield and Friends episode, "Lost and Foundling."
The nostalgia, ugughfh it hurts
Austin How does it hurt? 🤨
Hello 2020
I remember being in 5th grade and this game was almost IMPOSSIBLE to finish..... way too hard for a kid's game
lol
I loved this game when I was a kid!
I was 8 playing it and I beat it multiple times XD!
I was 5....
literally 5 lol
From an adult standpoint, this game is not really hard except for some of the activities, (like the constellations in The Observatory, The Robot Maze, and some Wheel of Invention questions). It's just way too tediously long and complex for a kid's game. The game is only about 12 hours long if you speed through it and do all the activities correctly, but it feels much longer when you consider how long it can take just to rescue one robot, especially for a 3rd grader. This doesn't even include the stacked invention point requirement of the original version. You need to get an additional 500 invention points for each of the quiz disk levels in order to use the time machine. This means you need a total of 3,000 invention points for each of the final 5 questions in order to use the time machine. I honestly don't know how they expect 3rd graders to actually get through this game. Lol!
Damn I remember when I tried playing this game. I wasn't even in third grade yet so I was too stupid even get through the activities
Sour Puss You don't have to feel ashamed at all. When I was in 3rd grade, (best school year ever), we had this game and a computer in our home classroom. 2 of my classmates and I kept doing the kitchen game for invention points because we couldn't understand what Botley meant by mission clues. We were too young to process all the dialogue in the game, so we couldn't even do the Virtual Collection or figure out the words for the Music Hall. We always got stuck at the Observatory constellations, and couldn't figure out the Shrinking Machine game. Finally, we understood the mission clues and managed to get a few, but I don't remember if we even managed to rescue one robot before 3rd grade year ended. Lol!
I played this up until middle school and gave it away thinking i was too old for it. But now I wish i had it back! This game still rules!
Good lord I remember playing this on my Windows 98 Internet-Less desktop when I was younger!
I love how this game did such a great job at showing kids how magical science is. You might as well of been foiling a wizard's daughter. A pretty one at that. :)
This and Cluefinder, man. So much nostalgia!
well, this game certainly smacked me in the face with nostalgia.
"Is that gum in your mouth? Sorry, my mistake."
That never gets old
I vaguely remember trying to play this in first grade, sucking, and never playing it in 3rd grade.
Makes sense why I loved this game so much as a kid. I'm now an avid fan of anything Sci-Fi and especially Doctor Who!!!
Nostalgia to the max!! I remember beating this game and feeling like I accomplished everything in life.Best virtual computer game known to man ever. 3rd Grade was always the most challenging level for me lol
I loved this Jumpstart series from 1st grade to 6th, only one I didn't play was 2nd grade. I'd play them again if I could
Who else would rage quit on the freaking art level?
Polly looks like the evil version of Bubbles
She's pretty much a combination of Dexter and DeeDee, except she's more of a spoiled know-it-all version of DeeDee.
I remember played this game back in 1998..
Warning: This video may cause violent fits of nostalgia. You have been warned.
I liked this game so much that I didn't bother with the 4th, 5th, and 6th grade games. I used to fantasize Mystery Mountain being an actual fun place to explore.
Polly had trigger the mass butterfly of doom by sending those robots travel through time.
YES!!! The original version! The GOOD version!!! Oh, I hope you've done the entire game...
OMG I used to love playing this game!!!!
SO MUCH NOSTALGIA RIGHT NOW I LOVE THIS GAME I'm so happy I'm only 12 and I still remember this game :D
hellor there
Oh my god I loved these games. Couldn’t remember them for the life of me. Funny how things from your childhood seem to be forgotten but are really just hiding out in your brain folds, waiting for you to be reminded of them…
Dude this game was my life.
Oh how I miss this!!
Based on everything Botley gave out about Polly's antics to change history, that would've sounded like a job for Time Squad
i dont know why i remembered this game today. i was addicted hardcore haha
Loved this game as a kid! Just had a 30 minute conversation with my sister about it, even tried to look for our disc! Half tempted to buy a new copy on eBay. 19 and 22 year old siblings craving to play a game designed for 3rd Graders. I regret nothing!
I've had nightmares of those large pupiled eyes. Now I know where it all stemmed from
Oh my god the name of this game has alluded me for so long
I’m supposed to be sleeping and I just started thinking about this. What a fever dream back to the past.
Is Botley the only Jumpstart character that has something close to a fanbase? O.O
Jo from 5th grade also has a following, albeit smaller. To be honest, I loved 5th more than 3rd but I remember both of them fondly.
Yes

My entire perception of reality has changed!
The actress who played him is Canadian.
@@GIJOEFAN-ys8gp cool! Thanks for the reply!

Damn, they're doing the theory of relativity in the same lesson as multiplication tables? That teacher must be amazing.
i lost this game a long time ago
i really missed playing it
I used to hate this game because it was too hard for me. xD I was like a kindergartener when someone got me this game... The 1st grade jumpstart was my life though! I can't find much videos on the one I used to play though. The one I played had like 7 animals at the beginning, not that dog.
This has to be the best Jumpstart out of them all. Such fond memories of my early childhood. I believe this one had the best characters and plot and a simply more colorful and vibrant world. Even though it was set in a huge laboratory, among the minigames and such you felt out there. Hell, at 19 I still might play it!
This made me so happy. seriously, I loved these.
I was just on a nostalgia bender and I've been trying to remember this game for over an hour. I'm so happy that I found it!
Wow is this a throwback! I was trying to remember the name of this game, played it all the time as a kid! I loved this!
The Statue of Licorice is one thing, but Donald Trump as president?! You've gone too far, Polly!!
This comment had me cackling like a hyena. Well done.
And it actually happened.
POLLLLYYYYyYYYY!!!
Somebody ought to teach Polly some manners in bratiness. Thumbs up if she should be grounded from Professor Spark.
That joke was very unoriginal.
John Helhoski pretty accurate though
Omg, I remember this!!!! I used to have all of the jump starts lol
I haven't played this game for nearly 10 years (when I was in 3rd grade myself) and yet I could easily start playing today and be just as entertained.
Hands down the best Jumpstart game ever.
this was seriously the best game i ever played when i was younger. i used to LOVE it and i still have it now. as a matter of fact i might go play it now XD
Aww man, it's been sooo long since I've played this game. The nostalgia is almost overwhelming! This was always my favourite game when I was little. This is where straight A's are born...
man I loved the Jumpstart games growing up, was to dumb as a kid to figure a lot of the puzzles and stuff out but I still remember having a blast playing them, may be an adult now but I've actually been tempted to go back and play some of them.
Oh. My. God. I've been looking for this game for like 10 years! I'm not from an English-speaking country and had no knowledge about the jumpstart games. Had no clue what the name was and now I finally found it!
“The future of the world may depend on that little machine in your hands”. It must have been over a decade ago when I last heard that phrase, but I still remember the exact tone botley says it in.
this is probably the best jump start game imo. i remember how long it took to beat...i almost want to try this again.
I LOVED this game!! I spent hours playing it while my sister watched. I didn't complete it until I was in 5th grade.
It's just so awesome. I wish I could still play old games like this on my computer.
Oh gosh I miss this!! My favourite Jumpstart. 4th Grade scared the heck outta me XD.
Oh wow, thank you for the nostalgia. I managed to lose this game when I was younger, right after I finished beating it, and I haven't seen it in years.
^^ Thanks so much; you made my day, really.
I watched nearly every other video of this on TH-cam, then I heard the Knowledge Adventure Music on this one and got all choked up. Such nostalgia.
Thank you SO MUCH for posting this! This was my favorite of the Jumpstart series as a kid! I still never finished it, and I wish I could still play it D:
This brings back such great memories. I loved this game so much. I remember being so proud because I played the 3rd grade game while I was in grade 1.
Wow this video reminds me of all the good things that used to be around back then, not just in the video game buisness but tv as well. There are so many classic things from back then that i miss.. R.I.P Jumpstart series.
I wish i still had this game!!! Used to love it!!
I still have these somewhere, I played all the jumpstart games as a kid.
Good times, good times.
I loved playing these! I still play it.... secret. Thank you for not talking over the game the whole time!
I played this game until the end of 4th Grade. Botley was my favorite character because I thought he was so cool, being a robot and all. If you really think about it, this 3rd Grade installment of the JumpStart series was the most popular PC game of our time.
Oh god I'm drowning in nostalgia.
I played this game waaaay more than I should have. My elementary school gave out copies of JumpStart 6th Grade to their 5th Grade kids to prepare them, but I ignored it and just popped this in.
I used to have Kindergarden to 4th Grade when I was a kid, but my parents gave them away as I grew up. I kept 3rd Grade and 4th Grade because they were my favorites.
I remember beating this in 4th grade 'cause I hated Jump Start 4th grade. Botley was the shit, man
I think everyone collectively agrees that Jump Start 3rd grade was just objectively better than the others.
Not "was" - Botley "is" the shit. I'm playing this game on my computer now which has Windows 10 and a touch screen. It makes the game especially easy when I'm unscrambling those words on the Music Hall door, or plugging those batteries into the Generator.
By the way - did you notice a sense of similarity in Botley's voice? Personally I think he sounds like Milhouse Van Houten, and that's the reason why I call him Milhouse
When you say fourth grade are you talking about the sapphire falls one because the one I grew up on was haunted isle a much better 4th grade game
@@Wiiguy1606 IDK, it had a kid on a skateboard and too much math. I hated it hahaha
@@jackeroo_sundown If it's a kid on a skateboard with red hair and solving some kind of mystery at night, that's Jo Henson kid detective and that is actually the fifth grade game
Snotley, Rotley, Plotley, Knotley, Spotley. I always cracked up when Polly called Botley different names, haha
I loved playing this game. It was a great experience for me when I was in 3rd grade.
I fucking use to love this game as a kid.
So awesome.
Omg I love you for uploading this!
Maaaaaaaaaaaaannnn... the nostalgia already hit me when I saw that intro... ugh kinda melancholy looking back, like I knew the downsides of being a kid...
ahhh, the sweet feeling of nostalgia!
Man, I played this as a kid. Can still remember the robot maze, cake making and space/rocket level.
haven't even seen this in 11 years yet its still so fresh in there
This is my favorite JumpStart game. I played it all the time when I was in 3rd grade. Heck, I still like to pop it back in every now and then! I wished all the time growing up that Botley would show up at school to take me back to Mystery Mountain.
I know right! Fun/interesting educational games?! MADNESS!!
Ladies and gentlemen... The greatest educational PC game ever made.
Oh the nostalgia. I remember playing this game for hours on end it when it came out. I'm now 18 and wish I could find it! The Music Hall was always my favorite and now I'm a music major :)
The screen on Botly's stomach reminds me of the Teletubbies. lol
I played this game so much as a kid. Wow so many memories! I wanna play again
i vaguely remember this game in elementary school, so i searched "4th grade learning game robot evil mansion" and i found this! Nostalgia!!!
THE NOSTALGIA. HOLY CRAP I WANNA PLAY THIS AGAIN.
Good memories. I used to play this when I was a kid, now my younger siblings will.
If i still had this game, i'd STILL play it.
The kitchen and the biosphere were my favorites.
this game, oh god this game was so fantastic, i need to play this again. 'Tis not a simple want, it is a NEED like food water and shelter if not greater than those. This need is rested deep in my core.
This was my favorite game as a kid. I'm so pissed that my dad gave it away to my little cousins without asking me first. I'm thinking about buying it on Amazon.
I just remembered this game today. Haven't seen or heard of it since the times I last played it, which was back when I was in 7th grade as I played it for years after I first played it in 3rd grade. lol
25 now and wish I still had the game.
I swear to God... this has to be the best 3rd grade game ever!!!
Thank you so much, Maria! I used to love this game! Hey, I think I have that game lying around somewhere. OMG, I could a walkthrough of that with my camera! Ooh, that would be so much fun!
Is it me, or do the locks on the door never change? I remember the musical patterns by heart and it's been over ten years XD
I've checked other users' Gameplays and they all seemed to have some sort of European release, which had some of your versions speeches missing. I'd say, the version you have seems the most flawless.
Btw, this is the only JS game I had. Those others I only played in somewhere else (school, at cousins etc.). Also, I was kinda glad first time I found your videos on TH-cam by just searching "Knowledge Adventure".
Guy Who Knew Too Much they weren't different versions, released in different countries. It all has to do with the games being "upgraded" and so they changed a lot of stuff. Not just the intro monologue. You can find a list online, by searching for jump-start 3rd grade update differences. Most other TH-camrs are playing 1.8 I think. Or 1.10.
This game was my favorite for years! I would love to play it again
Holy crap...I havn't played this game in over 8 years!!!!! This was the best game ever!!
I miss this game!! Even when im older, I miss playing it!!
If your watching this in 2020 you are really a legend...
Ah nostalgia. Do they make good educational games like this anymore? Children these days need em badly.
