      I also recommend Living The Line (the channel of a publish house run by two artists who heavily work with Dave SIm on the Cerebus remasters), Comicpop a fun podcast style review show of assorted cape stuff, and Jerk Comics a very long form comics history channel. All 3 of these are still active there are sadly quite a few good ones which went inactive and purged their channels.

    Growing up as a pre-teen in the '70s there were a LOT of "real life" superheroes that as a child, you really couldn't tell if they were purely fiction or real, because the media talked about as if they were real- KIZZ, Evel Knievel, Super Dave Osbourne, Fonzie, The Harlem GlobeTrotters, etc.

    It's so funny that in the 70's you could be a touring stadium rock band and still be considered "trying to break through"

    This reminds me of those Marvel oversized magazines from the mid-70s. I remember one with a great Hulk cover. Maybe an episode on those, or perhaps the very oversized DC/Marvel crossovers?

    Much as I love Gerber, it was Marvel Premiere #50 with its Mad Comics influenced Alice Cooper story that rocked my world.
    As far as elves with guns, Steve included one named Zzyxz in his HtD newspaper strip's Christmas tale. There's a good 4-5 issues of Gerber at the top of his game in those strips. You oughta cover them (Hint: use the Wayback Machine to find them online)

    Thanks for another great video! I love how you cover the most obscure corners of comics history in addition to the classics. I wonder if KISS has the same powers in this comic as they would’ve had as Cher’s minions in Jim Shooter’s proposed Dazzler movie! Lol (Also, thank you for the Sludge reference. :)

    You being so much obscure comics to the lime light. You make up the trinity of awesome comic book channels on TH-cam: comic tropes, cartoonist kayfabe, and strange brain parts (not necessarily in that order). Do you write your own scripts?

    • @StrangeBrainParts
      @StrangeBrainParts  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'm curious about your takes on Kiss' attempts at a comic revival in the 90s. Todd McFarland published a miniseries. Gene Simmons reportedly copies his Demon wings from Jack Kirby's Black Bolt. Also, Alice Cooper had a comic through Marvel as well.

    • @StrangeBrainParts

      I covered Alice Cooper comics a few years ago, with a focus on Marvel Premiere #50.
      As for the other Kiss comics...I've not given them a fair shake, to be honest. I've perused them and didn't see anything that might interest me. If this video gets crazy views I might revisit them and see if it's worthwhile to do another video on the topic.
