Going on 8 years in this city; just when I think the chaos gets a bit old, I'll leave on a trip and find I really miss Hanoi. It's definitely home, in all its gritty, bustling glory.
I spent 2 weeks staying alone in Hanoi French Quarter including xmas 2001 and new year - apart from my daily walk around the Hoan Kiem Lake (locals do it) my favourite hang was sitting on a step next to a smoky streetside charcoal BBQ eating delicious pork shasliks while imbibing local beer Bia Hoi from a freshly delivered plastic tub, refilled through a siphon of garden hose - while watching the endless stream of Honda Dream 100cc scooterbikes burbling past - that was some kinda perfection.
Love this! Thanks for sharing! I could feel the atmosphere with your wonderful description! We loved the lake area 😍 Hanoi is a special place! Not sure how we missed the pork shasliks 🤦 We will steal your scene for our next video in Hanoi!

you'd need to stir the condensed milk coffee thoroughly till it's foaming. It would give out more aroma & wont leave over sweet taste at the end of the glass.
Also try bạc xỉu, which has both milk and condense milk in it, its more delicious and light, suitable for ppl who dont want to chunk down a lot of coffee. And you cant miss egg coffee while in Hanoi, it is a famous drink adopted from the French colonization. Vietnamese ppl substituted cream with egg because it is much cheaper and easier to buy back then. The well-known egg coffee place in Hanoi is named Giảng Cafe, at 39 Nguyễn Hữu Huân street, but honestly any coffee place will do. Try trà đá vỉa hè also :)) Wish you a good stay in Hanoi
From Hanoi you can explore the northwest region with ravishing beauty. Then go along the south, the beauty and nature of Vietnam will not disappoint you. Vietnamese people are also hospitable and kind
