I have this and Ganymede, and the newest the new one by this perfumer is TILIA I have never ever had so many people ask me what I am weraing in all the years I have been into fragrances . A great Perfumer at work. Its also the work that you do that keeps people like me interested in fragrances always something fresh and new ,it must be tireless work trying to create something from scratch ! Keep up the fantastic work and reviews ......
Aaron I have 2 recommendations from this house : - Divine Vanille (Same perfumer of Parfum de Marly Herod) - Fig infusion is also a nice fragrance, It is the same style as Gris Charnel but more fruity and green. Concerning the packaging Essential parfum explained their strategy on thier TH-cam channel (the video is in french) : - The strategy is to offer affordable niche fragrances ( less than 100€ for 100ml) from french parfumers ( Quentin Bish, Nathalie Lorson, Antoine Maisondieu) and they prefer to have minimal packaging in order to invest the money in raw materials for the perfumers and give them full creative freedom.
Yeah, I thought the same too. Then, I wore it about ten times and realized this stuff is nuclear. I sold my bottle because Bisch's aroma chemicals come off too strong. One of the best-performing scents I've ever owned. The new bottles are supposed to be weaker or maybe it's a maceration thing. Give it a few wears and it may surprise you.
Same I sold my bottle and got a 10ml just so I could use it when I crave it. It’s simply just too rich for me! I’d actually like it to be thinner and airier smelling
Glad you are reviewing your packaging. My supernova label is off centre.. doesn't take away from the frag. But drives my OCD crazy. I have this and for me it's Ganymede's little bro. But more wearable. Luckily mine does have legs and projects like a champ. Some batch code snobs will tell you the earlier releases were stronger. Mine is 2021 so may have some relevance to how it performs. Really looking forward to the side by side with Ganymede. Thanks for another great video with fantastic insight. Bois Imperial is up there as one of my faves. So thanks again ❤
Loved that review! Shows to me how different we all are. Especially when it comes to sillage of our skin. Bois imperial is easily in the top 5 strongest out of my 400 scents. Once half of my office complained about it being to strong. It doesn’t even wash out of my clothes with 60 degrees 😄 Looking forward to the comparison of Ganymede and Bois imperial. Essential Parfums is a really interesting brand. They only focus on the “essential” things of a perfume - the scent. That’s why their packaging (which is made out of recycled stuff) and bottle are kept so simple. On the other hand they have very good perfumers working for them: Olivier Pescheux (Devine Vanille) who did Herod PDM or One Million for example & Quentin Bisch. Fascinating and interesting content, Aaron 🦄
I got a tester, while traveling for work, sprayed it on for the first time. on my way through the hotel lobby, a random woman rushed after me to compliment me. another woman joined her and insisted that i tell her the name of the fragrance. That was insane. Definitely buy a bottle. Price/Performance is outstanding.
Great review as always Aaron, your the one to go for a real detailed honest review in just 5-10 mins. This one is my dumb grab for daily i love the smell it make me feels good and it gotten me compliments from strangers when i was doing some shopping.
Thanks for the review Aaron ! I was looking forward to hearing your opinion on this fragrance. And now I'm even more interested to see you compare it with Ganymede. They're indeed pretty similar but I prefer Bois Imperial, in terms of price-to-quality it's unbeatable.
I think Bois Imperiale is phenomenal and I'm a fan of Quentin Bisch's work generally. I have a lot of his work, but particularly like Amouage Purpose. Ganymede and Encelade are also thoroughly excellent. He's also recently produced (working with other perfumers) The Key to My Success for Club De Nuit which is also very good, Although not in the same league as the others that I've mentioned, but good if you can get a deal on it. Interestingly, Bois Imperiale (along with the others) has an excellent life on me personally, it's well into 10 hours.
I was in Paris at their boutique store last week and was told they have a new version of this scent coming out in a month and it will have a higher oil content. I decided not to buy this version Aaron reviewed after i smelled them side by side, the new version is stronger. I took a picture of the bottle and it looks to be an extrait that will have 32% oils in it.
I picked this one up a few years ago and wear it quite frequently. It’s one of those Swiss Army frags that does just about everything. I’m one of the lucky ones who gets 10+ hours of longevity. Cheers!!
Is it? What have you learned about the notes in the perfume, How did they come across. Besides classical spicey ambroxin en squirt of linalool 😂.. So how did the ceder came across and the vetiver etc..
I love this fragrance and I am partial to the house of Essential Parfums. They create solid good quality fragrances at a reasonable price. Bois Imperial is amazing. I get compliments whenever I wear it. I picked up Ganymede because of how great Bois Imperial smells. It performs for at least 12 hours on me consistently. I sprayed it in my garage and my wife and daughter smelled it two hours later when they got home. Quentin Bisch is hot right now. He’s bringing a lot of heat with his work.
I do design in a totally different artistic field and you're right about simplicity. For me, achieving something simple, clean, a d readable is usually the stuff that takes the longest to write. It's probably the hardest thing I do, but my proudest work.
You just said you would like it to be more concentrated, so there you go: in the next few months, Essential Parfums is going to release « Bois Imperial Extrait » in 30ml bottle. I’ve tested it, and it’s way more concentrated, and surprisingly with a smaller sillage and strong but intimate projection. I love both but the next version is going to be your favorite for sure! Cheers Aaron
Man, of all the things that I've heard said online about Bois Imperial, it not being strong enough is NOT one I've heard before. IMO, both this and Ganymede are both freaking NUCLEAR, so much so that they are 2 of only maybe 3-5 frags in my collection that I spray less than 5-6 sprays of, specifically because they can be offensively strong if oversprayed.
3:22 I find the mathematics fascinating and you reminded me of Marcus du Sautoy talking about the “Code” of our Elegant Universe (Brian Greene) and the beauty of numbers, symmetry, but also the randomness of primes, which he refers to as “the atoms of mathematics”. I actually think that’s a very powerful concept for perfumery.
Hi Aaron, if this was any stronger, it would choke you out. I have a small traveling bottle and really is the longest lasting fresh perfume I own. Or maybe even of all of them. I just wore it yesterday for a whole day MTB ride in 30+°C and still smelled it when I got home and enjoyed a well deserved glass of beer. Much love❤ from Slovakia
Excellent review Aaron. Can’t wait for the comparison video. I currently own Ganymede and curious to know if owning this would be redundant and how longevity compares as well.
I find the two scents to be pretty different. They share the Bisch backbone, this alien-mineral thing, but I find Ganymede to be more luxurious, weirder, fuller and Bois Imperiale is cleaner, airier, simpler. Like Ganymede Silver. Would include Kenzo Homme EDT Intense in the family, as Ganymede Blue. I would test it but I don’t think they are redundant.
I own both and I think there are big differences between them. Not sure which I prefer of the two, I’m leaning more toward Bois though it’s suitable for more occasions
Could you please review Matiere Premiere - Radical Rose or Falcon Leather? I would love to know your thoughts considering your love for the rose extract from dior
Hi Arron ❤ This Fragrance Is in my top 3 Summer/Fresh period! Truly Amazing/ Sophisticated fragrance with great performance 👑 Quentin is Master Parfumer and I actually prefer Bois Imperial to Gynamede Anyway Arrom is not far from something special like Bois Imperial 😊 I recently bought my first ATH creations and would like to say THANK U Arron for creating Supernova and sending me to FraG Heaven ❤ LU
I think i tested an old formulation, it was obnoxiously strong on my Skin and reminded me of a Hospital room. It was so synthetic-woody, absolutely not for me.
I’ve bought 3 bottles of this and this great fragrance has unfortunately been reformulated. The first 2 bottles were awesome beast mode and received a lot of compliments the 3rd bottle didn’t last anymore smelled different and didn’t get me any compliments anymore too…
It has been not reformulated. Had the same concerns, because I read a lot of reviews and comments about this fragrance. I wrote them a Email and they said its not reformulated. Some could say they are lying but its unlikely. Would be bad for their reputation and future so why would they
If i have one critique about the way aaron reviews- so much time gets spent on the technical, when i dont feel like i really have any idea of what he think this scent actually smells like to him other than it being light, airy, and masculine. If i watched someone elses 8 minute review i think id walk away having some better idea of what the fragrance itself is and smells like, but as is i have to go look up other reviews because it could smell like pretty much anything based on that description- and usually a review is largely to give the viewer the effect of how the product compares to the projected idea of it- bc as fragheads all we have to work with are what the product might be like based on the stated notes we read on a screen and the perfume house waxing overly poetic in their descriptions of it- so unless someone actually gets the fragrance in hand and tells us how different the immediate experiential felt perception is compared to how its described by some listed notes and a poem, and they describe that well and in depth, it still feels very nebulous to the audience as to what that might smell like. Ofcourse you cant really know until you try something in person, but i appreciate when people try to get you as close as they can with articulating their experience of the smell. I like that Aaron tends to be more cerebral in his analysis, but at the same time like i said a fragrance is really about that illogical felt perception- so i wish he would use his cerebral nature to dissect that felt perception more instead of just being technical about formulations and aromachemicals
Also to reiterate, love Aaron and that his reviews feel dissective in a way that feels calming and scientific, im not saying that should shift. But reviewers are really the backbone of this community- because the two players are us as consumers, and fragrance houses we inherently dont trust unless theyve built up some goodwill- and even then we still recognize they are just trying to sell us an idea of something which may very well fall flat as an in person experience- so the reviewers end up being the great equalizers, especially these days a specific perfume getting popular has everything to do with word of mouth and others cosigning it. So in a review what i really want to know is how it smells. And It does help me to know this one smells smooth and like the ratio of raw materials is just right for it to be airy and project well, but i still have no idea what smells/raw materials themselves are actually projecting well, like what is that smell to you?
My huaband wore bois imperial ahd i could smell it the entire night .. definitely projects i couldn't even smell my own. It smells like new magazine pages to me
Guys just a PSA this sent has been reformulated to death hence why the stent is so weak. I guess the popularity of such fragrances only mean constant reformulations.
Bois Imperial is a more wearable and more versatile version of Ganymede. Sadly he recently batches are already watered down. Try to get a non-refillable bottle (meaning ‘the older batches’).
When you eventualy buy this please be careful when removing the cap. Mine was so tight it ripped the atomizer straight off the bottle the first day of owning it. Had to wrap the neck of the bottle with plumbing tape but still its been leaking ever since
@@kermitben1203 here we go with this refomulation bs. I have a 23 bottle and 2 sprays was nuclear AF. It is easy to go anosmic because of how powerful the ambroxan is in this
I find it really interesting that he feels like it isnt very strong. This is my second longest lasting perfume. Only my Bergamask by Orto Parisi lasts longer. On cllthes, Bois Imperial might even last longer
damn - my old batch of Bois Imperiale (the one with 73% alc) is one of my most powerfull scents in collection - i got compliments in shopping mall from the guy 10 metres from me. on clothing it projects for 2 days... PS Aaron You should check latest Bish scent Le Sel d’Issey Issey Miyake. ist les unique bit more verstile than BI.
Bought a sample set and i think what you said applies to all of them. They're well made, beautiful fragrances and i love to have them! I found fig infusion to be particularly interesting. But for me they don't last on my skin, so i wont be buying full bottle. :(
Don't be jealous of this Masterpiece creation just be inspired by this perfumer 🔥 .. I have a 2022 batch it's strong and has noticeable sillage and gives me those sparkling eyes contact from ladies each time i put on my Tshirt .. you need to let it mancerate for 1 month in the dark after the initial sprays it'll get stronger I'M NOT JOKING!
I agree, mine is and older batch too. Almost went through half of it and it is quite yellow now after a couple of years. Lasts hours if not the whole day with beast projection. I can see that everyone can sense it right away.
This is the only scent I have in my collection that when people smelled it for the first time 5 of them went and got it right away, the same day! And during one night out 9 people gave me a compliment. It is also the only "fresh" summer scent that is an absolute beast and lasts 20plus hours with massive projection, like smacking people across the nose :D . To me it smells like the best gin tonic just before you take a sip on a hot summer day in Greece!
@pecily if you don’t mind me asking, how many sprays do you apply? I find it is hard for me to judge the sweet spot with this fragrance, as I go noseblind easily. Thanks!
@@tannerdowning-mcadams110 yep I can to sense it only for like 20 30 mins after I apply it. I always do 5 sprays. Two under ears, one back of the neck and one on each elbow inside. I spray every fragrance very close so it leaves a stain on the skin. I find it that this way my skin absorbes some and some stays on top to smack people across their noses 😁😁
@@pecily Thank you! That is very helpful. I heard that they recently changed the sprayer to dispense less liquid, and the recommendations of 2 sprays from the old bottle were not cutting it.
Maybe he’s waiting to do the comparison with Ganymede, that’s the only reason I can think. I think he’ll give this an 8 or a 9 though it is a lovely fragrance
@@kermitben1203they recently changed to a different atomizer which produces are finer mist and dispenses less of the perfume. I think there probably just wasn’t enough on his skin.
Quentin bisch does some great work. I think this perfume is fantastic value for money. And like you say it smells smart and fresh Great review Mr hughes 👌🏻😎

Think it's been reformulated but I was able to pick up a pre reform bottle. Smells so good and lasts forever. It definitely is simple, like you said. It is easy to go nose blind to as well
@@Gruber1922They recently changed the bottle to a refillable design with an atomizer that dispenses less liquid per spray compared to old bottles. I believe this is the reason why people say the full bottles are weak but the sample bottles seem stronger.
Oh wow, finally reviewing my favourite perfume - can't wait to hear your thoughts

@@kermitben1203 I have a 2022 batch it's strong with big sillage
@@ivansotirov2457 apparently it has been reformulated.
On cllthes, Bois Imperial might even last longer
damn - my old batch of Bois Imperiale (the one with 73% alc) is one of my most powerfull scents in collection
- i got compliments in shopping mall from the guy 10 metres from me. on clothing it projects for 2 days...
PS Aaron You should check latest Bish scent Le Sel d’Issey Issey Miyake. ist les unique bit more verstile than BI.
Will you review Burberry Hero Parfum?? Would love to hear your thoughts
Aaron, please please please review Divine Vanille by Essential Parfums at some point.
Thank you Aaron.
Jus sampled dis few days back & it smells gorgeous howeva I do tink dis works best fo da office or any professional setting
@@pecily That is facts! One of my co workers asked me to order a bottle for him!
@@pecily I agree with you on this ! Love this scent
Can't wait for the odyssey+ release..❤❤
Bois Imperial / Ganymede / Amouage Beloved... the three of them all share that same DNA in my opinion
please try amouge purpose and compare all 3, all are somewhat similar at 3 different price ranges would be extremely interesting
@AaronTerenceHughes will you ever be able to shipp internationally again
can i use this frag in hot weather ? 🧐🧐
Can you make a video on the best fruity or boozy perfumes (designer and niche)
Review CC Blond Amber!
The is a beast!!
44 seconds ago 😭❤️ I love your videos ❤🙏 Best reviewer. Can you please review Siberian Rose and Royal Mayfair? Ty🙏❤️
Quentin Bisch can do no wrong.
Personally for me, it’s smell like chalk…it last long and it’s great for the price. Maybe it will grown on me later
Can you please test Valentino uomo intense 2016 !
Did I miss the mark? If so, what was it?
@@RichardOliver he didn’t give one 😧
Maybe he’s waiting to do the comparison with Ganymede, that’s the only reason I can think. I think he’ll give this an 8 or a 9 though it is a lovely fragrance
Not strong enough?????? LOL .... this stuff is ATOMIC
Old batch? Is it reformulated?
@@kermitben1203they recently changed to a different atomizer which produces are finer mist and dispenses less of the perfume. I think there probably just wasn’t enough on his skin.
@@tannerdowning-mcadams110 thak you for the answer.
"Im fantastic and Im doing really well" 😂😂
Quentin bisch does some great work. I think this perfume is fantastic value for money. And like you say it smells smart and fresh

Think it's been reformulated but I was able to pick up a pre reform bottle. Smells so good and lasts forever. It definitely is simple, like you said. It is easy to go nose blind to as well
Who said its reformulated?
@@RogerKimski1 bunch of reviews and a couple fragrance groups I'm in. I guess just word of mouth and I can't actually confirm
@@Gruber1922 there's zero evidence I can find.
Other than people just saying it.
I wouldn't believe everything you hear.
@@RogerKimski1 why I said I can't actually confirm... which means I'm not 100% sure lol...
@@Gruber1922They recently changed the bottle to a refillable design with an atomizer that dispenses less liquid per spray compared to old bottles. I believe this is the reason why people say the full bottles are weak but the sample bottles seem stronger.
No me gusta el plastico cap 🙃
I've just arrived in Spain🇪🇸 Olé!
People at work told me I smell like bug repellent 😢
