You need at least 7 minutes to kill him with starter gear and a circle that doesn't close you out at the minimum lol. Probably would be better to take multishot and headshot perk but still good jorb.
I did a flawless run blue shortsword and didn’t kill him on ranger before zone was right on top of me I did get a bad zone but I swear you do so little damage compared to other classes
Nice @EwolYT! Did you happen to kill him using my strat? I know right. I know that it says melee damage on ranger is reduced, but like you do negative damage. I almost thought the game was bugging when I was killing it as a Ranger.
@@HahnSoloz I started fighting him completely blind last night and attempted for like 3-4 hrs. I never used the bow because I wasn’t used to the timing, I got several attempts where zone killed me before he did so I’m comfortable with his attacks now. I wasn’t aware of the roar loop you target I’ll probably try that tonight as I just want to kill him to say I did it and release a video going over the process of learning the fight.
@@EwolYT Nice! Other than the zone, the roar is basically the only real threat to you so using the bow is a lot harder. If you are trying to bow him down, you just have to play it safe. Good luck Troll Hunting!
@@EwolYT Yeah for sure. I don't mean to toot my own horn, but the Rogue Guide I released makes the Cave Troll INCREDIBLY easy. I def recommend you try it out.
@rasmuskjaerpoulsen are you talking about the 2 swings after his scream when I do Rogue playthroughs? He only swings while you’re debuffed by the slow from the scream. So, for example, if your running the Jokester perk, that increases your will which in turn lessens the time you’re slowed so he’ll only do one swing.
@@HahnSoloz no i meant the troll sometimes does 2 swings in a row when I attempt to kill him. But I found out its when you stay too close to him for too long
@@rasmuskjaerpoulsen Oh yes. If you're talking about the combo where he starts his swing from his right to his left, he only starts the combo if you go in too early.
Is there any point doing the troll anymore? I got him down and he dropped worthless blue gloves with bad stats and the room had only cracked/flawed gems and white gear in the chests. Felt so worthless.
@Llnstead I definitely don't think it's as good as it was, but it's still not terrible. Since it's fairly quick, it's a good way to grind for some gear. What I like to do is pop a luck potion to increase odds of better gear and since the treasure room gives like 100-200 gold, it pays for itself at least twice over. I would say though that the Troll is more geared towards players who don't have gear for High Roll yet or are Solo Players and don't feel like playing in the 3-person map. But, if you think about it, the average payout is better than if you played Goblin Caves without killing it ya know?
@@HahnSolozDo you know why sometimes after a scream he will do a very high mid swing that you can't jump? That's the only thing that kills me when I try this. I'm not fast enough to know it on reaction and duck and watching your footage he always did the super slow sweep. Edit: For rogue that is
@@Llnstead To be honest, I'm not exactly sure what prompts him to do a mid swing instead of a low swing, but I do know that you can jump over it. Check to make sure that when you jump, you're not just jumping since you get your hits in. You want to time it so that the apex of your double jump and crouch is right about when his hammer swings underneath you. I'd also recommend maybe backing up because when he does his mid swing, he moves forward and maybe his arm or some part of his body is hitting you. Please let me know if this helps!

A 6 minute fight for absolute dog water drops. Thats the cave troll. Its fun to do just to change shit up, but man is it really just a slog. Also that mid range swiing he does after a rawr should totally be better telegraphed, because its just 50/50 on if its the low swing or high swing and imo thats just a bad design and a sort of "gotcha" mechanic. They should either remove one or make it more clear he is going to do one or the other.

How often do you encounter Third Parties, either interrupting or waiting outside, when you go for Cave Troll kills?
I would say 50% of the time so you have to make sure to be prepared, especially for Rogues. They will interrupt the most.

I noticed he never does the 2hit combos in your run. Did they change the AI or am i doing something wrong?

Yes. You farm highroller troll in the same way.

Ranger class is so aggravating to play. Its like the devs put 0 thought into realistic scenarios for it.
The Ranger is definitely not the easiest class to play, but when done right, it can be really good.
Atleast you can solo boss. Wizard cant do any boss by themselves :(

yeah, it does suck that the swing is basically random with no way to reliably predict
