I'm Black but not American. I think putting Ghetto Bewitched as the title is precisely what made me check it out. I wouldn't want to watch Suburban Bewitched or Mrs Bewitched because I was looking for something urban, and even calling it Urban Bewitched wouldn't have appealed to me because the "ghetto" caricatures that are humorous are traditionally satirical in regards to ghettos. Using the word "hood" or "urban" would totally have alienated me as I would expect foul language and firearms and absentee incarcerated fathers. The point being, if African-Americans want to change the perception of certain words to an outside audience, solve your communal issues. Outside of the USA, we don't associate ghetto with negative connotations. We see it as urban with humor and a sense of community different from - not inferior to - other demographics in the USA. So many of you seem so touchy about how you are perceived, why not focus on laughter, love and good alternative entertainment to others?
So many do not admit to stereotypes and prejudices subtly imposed by dominant cultures. Some are programmed to deliberately deny anything related to race with eyes wide shut.
