True, but that's kind of different because it was obvious viewers would be staring intently during parts with fingerings, so Kyoani had to get it right. But these silly details like reed-licking and swabbing? Kyoani didn't even have to include these to make the anime feel real, but they did anyway, and that's what I love. And I love how they used to details to pay tribute to band geeks-- they could have picked scales or something orchestras do for warmup, but they picked F-Stretches (which ONLY concert bands use to warm up; no other kind of musical group uses it.)
My band directors always used the principal tuba because they say that the tuba is the foundation of the three band. But clarinet also works beautifully here I think.
kyoani's dedication to accuracy and very amazing portrayal is just so admirable and i'm so grateful for kyoani's boundless efforts in making highest, top-quality anime.
I'm not a band geek and I fell in love with the show. Really shows the value of putting in work and caring even with fear of failure and wasted effort, and an argument for competition with something as seemingly subjective as a music performance.
I wasn't in band, I was in journalism club. But I spent a lot of time around the band, choir and drama club groups that I became their personal photographer during events. Any you can always hear them tuning their instruments around 3 to 4 am.
@@richardnoah2922 officially, clarinet! but i spend more time playing fife at my unit. i played in a band before but its all composed of stringed instruments so i wouldnt knw what all that feels like but i still love hibike euphonium. oh the band i was in is called the rondalla. anyone familiar with that?
Rondalla = guitars, mandolins called the "bandurya," and a cello acting as a bass. Mom was in one before, so the bandurya was probably the first musical instrument I ever held.
fun fact: FLAVORED reeds exist. some i found for tenor sax are: BUBBLE GUM BLUE RASPBERRY CINNAMON CHERRY RED GRAPE MINT GREEN ORANGE PINA COLADA STRAWBERRY WATER MELON (yes i copied and pasted it shut up) as an alto saxophone player, its actually funny how accurate this is!! i need to watch this xD
I have no memory of having watched this until I saw my own comment. Damn, time flies. inb4 TH-cam re-recommends this video a few years later to me again XD
I personally loved the fact they made accurate sheet music.
+that one clarinet squeak lmao
@v o r badum tsz
you forgot about how accurate the fingerings were

the percussion standing in the back and doing nothing for ages and "It's actually really good stress relief"
"Maintenance?"
And then they somehow sound amazing when performing.
Or they don't the percussion are a bunch of wild cards
@@dango6266 am percussion, can confirm

Kevin Li Mine too... Plus the principal clarinet (me) isn't good enough
Same here
Interesting, we used the principle of clarinet.
My high school band director used the lead euphonium because the clarinets, flutes, and tuba didn't care enough to pay attention.
i play euphonium and it’s usually my section leader that tunes us, but when he’s not there our oboe player does

I was in band for a year and this show taught me more than band did
(Y'all take bigger steps than Jrotc damn)
hi in real life i'm in a US Army band! having marched with regular soldiers in formation and with the band, it actually doesn't feel that different :)
@@takinoborudesu well in Air force rotc we arent measured out, but standard is 20 inch drill step. Also thats pretty cool what instrument?

#7 is literally orgasmic !
These are such familiar nice sounds to me. I also didn't realize I do the mouthpiece puff
GOD THE REED ITS BEEN SO LONG BUT I STILL REMEMBER THE TASTE OF A FRESH REED.
Now that I think about it, we didn’t have a clarinet tune us cuz our conductor just played the tuning notes on a keyboard.
When the trumpet is getting ready and you can hear the valves tapping . . .
Love KyoAni ❤️
This reminds me of my school orchestra days!! 😂😂 Legit all these actually happen!! Love it!
Anybody else in band love when on person starts playing the beginning of a compitition song and then everyone starts joining in mid song
Seems like Hibike Euphonium was a more accurate portrayal of band than Drumline

at 7 the clarinet that starts sounds sharp
I think it's because they tune to A = 442Hz (there are some scenes with the tuner showing 442) rather than A = 440Hz
THERE BENDING THEIR KNEES!!!!
for me it's almost exactly the same apart from the fact that instead I'm in an all-strings band
An orchestra?
fun fact:
FLAVORED reeds exist.
some i found for tenor sax are:
BUBBLE GUM
BLUE RASPBERRY
CINNAMON
CHERRY RED

yeah if they include a session of tuning with a tuner or with other intruments that would look so great
more ... More ... MORE ... M O R E !!!
lol now that i know these details i love even more this anime
Twoset violin should watch this
Agreed
if it includes someone forgetting an accidental then i'll watch it
The trombone at the beginning is an overachiever
Omg 😂 I'm woodwind fam lol
Can someone make Swab ASMR
a 10hr version but the sound is stretched to fit 10 hours
The reeds taste like candy for me
ayeeeeeeeeee woodwind fam
I taste a good reed in the air
Malay subs?
That's new.
Although I'm used to English subs more than Malay XD
It's actually bahasa indonesia subs
is it malay or bahasa indonesia? Why am I read it as bahasa

0:16 Indonesia Subtitle ? Where do you get that scene from ?
I do not playbtuis instruments but it seems interesting
We have a principal oboe instead of clarinet
Yeah. I can say Im that one guy who barely looks at the conductor. Not saying I ignore him/her tho
As a trombone player I feel called out in #1 >:(
ara, pakai sub Indonesia, wkwkwk
Oh dude, reeds tasted terrible, but for some reason your brain slowly tunes it out in the same way you dont notice your nose
*pouff*
omg yes the taste of new reeds oof not the best :,)
