Incredible episode! Monty’s laugh during the battle sent a chill up my spine. I almost felt I had to roll for contamination. And the aftermath and plans going forward left off with a political cliffhanger of sorts.

That was the most malevolent laugh of the entire Drakkenheim series!!! There were some solid aftershock chuckles shortly after too! Hard to tell where Monty was revelling in the spectacular moment and where he was roleplaying the NPC?!?
Loved the session, my party is going through Drakkenheim and loving it. Quick note though at 29:10 and I'm sure the twitch chat screamed about this, but Kelly did in fact drink a Potion on Invulnerability so he should've had resistance to all damage for the remainder of thet fight. Might be best to jot these things down so they aren't forgotten in between sessions :)
This was the most epic battle of the entire series! Monty has dialed his actors so tight that their normal attention to detail was shattered! Having put years into a character that has been shared publicly must put potential death on to a whole other plane??? The Call of Cthulu influence on the context of Drakkenheim cranks up the spooky/disturbing factor for the party. Hard to play a meta game when your DM has added in unknown delirium/contamination factors! Even Kelly had forgotten that vicious L.9 Wall of Contamination spell (with a classic “Why did I create that?!? head shake)!
Im glad Casper got an eye that it can shut now.
Now I'm wondering how the rest of the gang will react once they find out The Queen of Thieves commissioned the Golden Army from Hellboy to fight for her.

Seeing as TH-cam deleted my long arse comment adetailing exactly why I love each and every one of you including floating ghost hand (IM NOT SALTY AT ALL) I just wanna say thanks man. It sounds melodramatic to me to acknowledge the solace this series gives me. I couldn't get into critical roll or any other dnd show but I've seen ever episode of this as well as all the dungeon dudes vids. Thank you all so much. That's about as much rekindness as I can muster haha

There are endless arcs for the parties to follow! Wilhelm could gain the throne, then abdicate it to return to a ‘simple’ Dusk Warden journey? So many casual mentions by Dr. Monty (DM) that will either spin back in or be parked for future use. No encounter seems to be wasted in this campaign.

cheers, gang. enjoy yr break. don't mean this as criticism, but is anyone else in mourning for the 'origin of the elves' story line? that was so rad. maybe superseded by sebastian's vision. but still. i thought when they took the lighthouse, they were gonna hole up in there and use it as a base while leveraging its skynet system thingy to find missions across the continent - slowly helping moonbane (was that his name?) regain his memory all the while. if i had 2,000% more spare time, i'd run a drakkenhiem campaign along those lines.

They've mentioned in the discord that the elven origin is such a massive plot that going through it and figuring it out would have to be the subject of an entire campaign. So, who knows? Maybe they will get back around to it in the next campaign.

I'm so glad Veo survived!!! I don't want them to die, but it would be very interesting to see what happens if one of them does (not counting the scroll of Resurrection).
Now, I feel like this season is going to be a looong one. There are so many plot points floating around that I've lost count already. I want to know what happens to the elf dude (can't remember his name) and I've been dying to see the coronation. Ever since I read the book I've wanted to see how it goes for them.
On the other hand, I'll be sad if they actually kill Lucretia. She's a very cool character, but her "path" doesn't align with any of the characters, even if I feel like the Matriarch is eviiiiill lol. The same goes for the QoT: she's getting way too powerful and no one has taken the time to tell the world she's Katarina von Kessel. That could mess her up real bad.
Every time I think I see a way forward I can think of ways Monty can throw a wrench in the machine. I think it's finally getting to the point where they're gonna have to start picking sides and making morally grey choices.
After the meeting in the chapel from the first campaign I think Monty's made it pretty clear that all the factions won't come together and be bffs over a cup of tea. Even though logically they should when it comes to destroying delerium - minus the Followers of The Falling Fire.
Not all the factions seem united in the attitude towards the delirium issue.

I remember Wilhelm received the rod of purge contamination in the battle at Ash Bay but I don't recall ever seeing you guys use it
I believe they have forgotten about it. I remember being confused when they came across a contaminated Elias in the Kesslehome arc. They could have used it on him and never did.

I can see where jumping back & forth between characters while splitting up the threesomes has strained the players ability to track their belongings & consider who is carrying what when they travel separately. This came up in previous episodes with the “who has the bags of holding?” comments.
Some amazing role play in a diabolically dynamic campaign setting - I find myself emotional caught up in the action and intrigue - even harder for Kelly, Jill & Joe to do so?!? The players have also come to rely on Dr. Monty to remember important details for them, but not adjusted to the audible comments (highly appropriate) that the DM is not responsible for tracking such details.
I think it causes immediate exhaustion to match that levels of contamination they purge. They are rarely in high pressure situations where their contamination is more detrimental to their survival than equal levels of exhaustion, and when they are not in high stress situations they have access to other means of purging contamination that doesn't cost consumable resources.

Nothing is stable, secure, or solid in this campaign. Good recap at the end of this session (esp, with some time off coming). Really, they just gave Dr. Monty three weeks off to plot, scheme, and connive potential plot lines for weaving even more complexity and delightful tension in to the Fate of Drakkenheim!
I thought Wilhelm promised not to marry so that his adopted son would have a clear shot to succession.
I thought the restriction was just that George would have full succession rights even above Wilhelm's offspring. Maybe I'm misremembering though

I think the spiritual exhaustion should also apply a temporary -1 to Wisdom for every level of physical exhaustion, to be removed together as they are removed, to indicate the weakening of the spirit to resist like effects.

I'm laughing so hard at Wilhelm getting his love life and potential alliances thrown around by hos comrades as he just nervously sweats. It's so fun how character flaws (Wilhelm being very not used or wanting to take into the whole kingly duties, and his usual life knowledges not helping him anymore) makes it way more interesting. And honestly with all the THINGS going on i tottally get

Sebastian seems to keeps forgetting that it's not just the Amethyst Academy that wants the Delirium to stick around, the nobles might try to assassinate him if he agrees to destroy it all
Noble (naive?) ideals on the part of Wilhelm (while immaculately holding these standards under extreme pressure in role play) that everyone can be pleased by the resolution of the delirium issue! Looking forward to seeing all six party members sitting down together & hearing that some Amethyst Academy members have put Yorin to shame in their necromancy research!!!

Idea for the fight... Minor illusion of her, right in front of her face, that follows her as she moves, an exact copy of her own face to look at.
If Lenore is 50ft high and 30ft horizontally from Pluto, she isn't within 30 ft of him, pythagorous dictates that she is then 59 ft away from him

@@franistan9867 I know what you mean but don't forget that we are talking in 3 dimensions not about extra movement for diagonals... if we think of each character as having a sphere of movement around them for movement and for effects then distance would propagate accordingly... I don't know if that makes sense...
@@esgeir9499 oh I wholly agree that makes more sense and in every game I run, I use the optional 3.5e-style movement rules. Just saying 5e (and I think 4e) have simplified it to avoid the extra math. I don't think it specifies whether that applies to the third dimension though.

I'm a year behind but, I'm thinking, marriage scheme, there could be a lot of benefit to marrying the queen of thieves, Cousanguity is a thing that happened a lot historically irl. It would bind the academy closer, and as the team are now sure to find out a robot army and another that rules the shadows.

How large would a glass orb have to be to have enough sludge in it to be a focos?
I wouldn’t say the sludge would be able to act as a focus. Now a refined and polished delirium crystal encased in glass. That is a different story. The size of the Crystal isn’t really the cost, the refining under an anti magic field by the academy is where the cost goes.

Confession (as an armchair party member):
FLAG = Discussing big picture plans concerning the epic concerns threatening the fate of Drakkenheim while not committing resources to ensuring they are taking with the actual person (or confirming they are not under remote control) and protected from all the groups that have them under constant scrying?!? Sharing their plans with their enemies or abandoned allies (NB: how many times do they need to hear from Falling Fire/Silver Order followers that they have been ‘for-seen at a place’ before they arrive?) keeps the campaign dynamic, while thwarting the parties hopes to ever ‘be 1 step ahead’.
This campaign is SO COMPLEX!!! I can see that there is so much to keep track of and love how the party (playing dual characters nonetheless) and Dr. Monty find themselves swept up in the moment (Jill = the meticulous detail tracker -> unsure of her Aqua Expurgo consumption) but we all know that minor mentions/events (i.e., the rat Prince) can turn into major scenarios. Sort of, but also if Veo hadn't retreated back to the hallway after her first turn so Lenore could block her off with the Wall O' Death, she probably would've downed Lenore in 2 or 3 rounds.
Martial classes need a feature like Cleave as 3rd or 3.5 editions of dnd allow them to do what they know best, that is damage to the enemies in the battlefield. If we compare spellcasters to martial classes, spellcasters are excellent to aoe spells (web, sleet storm, Fireball) and sustain (feblemind). Martial classes have a crowd control and sustain in battlefield, only when they can do what they do best, keep attacking and damaging enemies in battlefield, consider this like this, martial classes because of the high constitution and armor class they are taking agro of the monsters towards them while spellcasters debuffing the monster getting weaker to the attack of martials, also in a party with good teamwork, the damage that a martial class can do with the buffs of a spellcaster in addition of the martial class has the cleave feat is TRIPLED compared to any damage a single spellcaster can do with buffing himself. I don't think that we solve the damage problem by nurfing classes. We solve a problem through teamwork. As a DM I had a party that my players to character creation, that spellcasters 3 of them) choose their spells in such a way that the 4 martials has not only buffs to their attacks, not only the spellcasters cast a web to mobs and trapped them inside but the martials has healing from cleric and a druid while the paladin, the battlemaster and the barbarian do what they are excellent to do, damage enemies with TONS of damage, while the wizard SCRYING to certain events making the team get prepared for the battle in such a way that when the battle comes my players would have fun battling a Lich and giving him a trouble to fight (I liked that from my players back then) they made choices that all the characters feel the gaps that a player might leave open by spell choices to positioning themselves to battlefield. Teamwork is solution to any problem.

Anyone else feel like they could have saved Queen lenore like how she was saved previouusly? it feels like they turned on helping her get back to normal pretty fast!
We were pretty clear that at no point were they able to reverse her condition, they never “saved” her. In season one they prolonged her fight against contamination, but she returned to the ruins in the end where she became a horrible monster.
