This Radio is no longer for sale in the US. They new version will be out by the end of January 2022. It now contains a FM selector switch. That puts the radio into the new FM CB band. It will only transmit in FM in this band to comply with the new part 95 Class D regulations. The band is between 27.435 - 27.535 the old RC aircraft control band. That got moved to 70 MHZ 4 meters back in 2000.
Killer video! I am still a fan of CB radios. How has this one been performing? I still have my Galaxy 88HDL and 350 watt amp from my truck driving days.
I watched another video where a user declared that they turned the carrier up to 4 watts and increased the modulation to about 80 percent. He said he did so by finding the service manual. I don't care about increasing carrier, but it's only modulating at 40 or 50 percent. I'd love to increase that.
@@TheSmokinApe When I was 16 in the 1980's I think we all had CB's in our cars and trucks. They are a great tool for cheap, local, license free communications.
@@TheSmokinApe Yes Sir! Way back when was talking to a gal on CB. We decided to meet at the local pinball arcade. Needless to say she had a face made for radio YIKES. LOL
Where I live we have quite a bit of 2m and 70cm repeaters and many are YSF connected so there is a lot of Ham traffic. That said I do live off an interstate that I often commute on, so there is CB traffic. I’m a fan of radio in all modes, I don’t limit it to Ham...👍
TheSmokinApe of course! It gives you a unique ability to bridge those worlds too in an emergency situation as well. Also you can have your friends get them without needing a license 😛
Cool video. I wish they wouldn't use up display space by showing the actual frequency of the channel. I don't see the point. All the other features look cool though.

Thanks man! I’ve only used it a few times but I like it quite a bit, it’s too big to put in the Jeep so I’m thinking of adding it to the shack 👍
@@TheSmokinApe I would like to put a CB in my Ram 2500 but with two 2m/440 radios and soon an HF radio I am running out of room.
I have one of these these in my 2024 4Runner, half of it fits nice and snug in front of the gear shifter. Looks like factory installed.

I’ve been thinking about getting into CB, do you tend to see more local CB traffic or ham traffic?
Where I live we have quite a bit of 2m and 70cm repeaters and many are YSF connected so there is a lot of Ham traffic. That said I do live off an interstate that I often commute on, so there is CB traffic. I’m a fan of radio in all modes, I don’t limit it to Ham...👍

It has the VOX feature. How does it work? Do you have to have an extra mic or anything?? You left out this feature except that you dont like it.
There’s a port in the back for a VOX mic. I didn’t test because I don’t have a VOX mic 👍
