I use chemical guys compounds for cutting and buffing # 32, 34, 36 and 38. 32 being the most aggressive 38 being more of a polish and have used these on my belt moldings and around the door glass and has worked great by simply putting a little on a rag and rubbing back and forth folding the rag as it gets dirty I've used it on others vehicles to and no need in worrying about any chemicals screwing up the paint because its made for paint... when finished just wipe the entire piece with a clean rag, i use those cheap micro fiber rags from harbor freight... also this works great on glass. I use this on all my glass on my truck to get all the water spots off then spray it with rain x
I bought the Automotive Goo Gone based on, however, the label states not for rubber????? I'm pretty sure my trim issue is made of rubber. . . .any advise?
I had tried everything I could think of to get my trim looking better and this worked for me. Note, I did wash it well after and then used protectant on it. Many miles & over a year later it still looks good, BUT please don't use the Goo Gone if you think it may damage your trim. Maybe try just the Dawn soap first.
Thank you for the video. Very interesting. In Australai I have sceen magic eraser sponge block but I have not sceen a cloth before. What is the brand name of the Magic Eraser cloth ?? Cheers Hayden
I just found your video. I looked up magic erasers, but all were sponge like materials. Is the sponge eraser ok to use ? I have the same type of staining on rubber around rear side windows. What is the name brand you would recommend? Also , after cleaning rubber, what type of coating is good to apply to bring back some shine and not let rubber dry out as fast . Thanks
This should remove small imperfections, dawn or goo gone should work just fine however goo gone is a little more aggressive and should work better - always test a small inconspicuous area first!
@@Pondsisawesome124 it worked for stains, small scratches and polish compound residues but now i got some small micro scratches all over the weatherstrips is there a way to remove those, or i pushed too hard on the magic eraser?? Thanks
I experienced a volcanic eruption in 2020 and the volcanic ash destroyed all my window weather strips and rubbers. My car is a 2007 toyota blade and it is hard to find replacements. I am looking for DIY fixes. Any tip will be appreciated. I will provide a contact detail once you indicate...
These rubber seals last a long time. I personally wouldn't be to bothered about restoring them as you're more than likely going to shorten the life span of them... also i've never notice rubber seals on a vehicle unless im stood next to it... the first thing i notice when a car drives past is the colour, make & model. 2nd is wheels. 3rd is any modifications (spoiler, window tints, skirts, bumper extensions etc...) 4th depending on how fast it drives past is whoever is in the car. 5th is the vehicle following behind it... no one ever notices the rubber seals!!! If you attend car shows i sort of get it but don't waste your money or time!!!

HOLY HELL - i have been asking people how to remove the dirty from window shield. No one know the answer even the guy who have been in detail business for 10 years. I have been using simple green, polish, wax, and buff... nothing works. I hope this step will works
tried it on my 2008 toyota tacoma and worked unbelievable

Thankyou for sharing this is perfect for what I need.
Glad it helped you:-)
I just used a mild steel wool and it cleaned it to new, the I used Methyl Salicylate and brought the texture back.

YEAH, don't use goo gone on your weatherstripping!! 303 aerospace protectant is best!! Silicone free product which is what you want.

Mr Clean is the brand name. Amazon perhaps or eBay?
Does anyone else have problem with sealant leaking black when gets wet on the car as well? I heard u could torch a layer off but this looks better.
Yes I do on my white truck especially when it rains or when I wash it. I’m gonna give this a try forsure
I have an elantra touring ans i don't get it mine are peeling. The rubber was super dry and it revealed a chrome like finish..
Putting masking tape on the paint makes it easier to prevent scratches
Yes, or painters tape. Great suggestion!

The magic eraser is made by Mr. Clean. They should have them at Home Depot or a grocery store:-)
Can this remove overspray clearcoat as well off plastic/rubber weatherstrip window trims?
Possibly, really depends on how heavy the overspray is and how well it stuck to the trim. Trying it shouldn’t hurt
I gotta white truck and when I wash it or when it rains mine are running and making streaks i definitely gotta try this
How can you keep a Robert and getting insid
Will this remove small scratches on the rubber trim around the windows? Thanks :) Also should I use dawn + magic eraser or goo gone and magic eraser?

I dont think youre supposed to put goo gone on rubber. Chemical guys has an oil remover for plastics and rubber.
Did it work?
I experienced a volcanic eruption in 2020 and the volcanic ash destroyed all my window weather strips and rubbers.

How do you clean in between the glass and the door panel
You could remove the door panel to get the whole thing clean or just use regular cleaners.
Does the back to black trim restorer . Restore it permanently or do you have to reapply it cuz it eventually fades ?
Seems to hold up fine so far.
Mold and sun spot removal with ease
Gun lube and cleaner spray
Followed by a sealant protectant
What rubber sealant would you say??
Goo gone destroyed my tint ...be careful with that stuff!!!
Your tint film should be on the inside.
Soapy water , scothbrite pads, brush and tire blackened.

Use steel wool and windex. If its really bad, steel wool and glass polish.
I'm pretty sure goo gone is deteriorating the rubber and those hard brushes are as well.
The rubber still looks a LOT better then it did going on 2 years later but your mileage may vary:-)
Goo gone is not supposed to be used on rubber
thank you 👐
How to maintain it to prevent cracks?
Clean it well when you wash your car and coat it in some sort of a vinyl protectant. I used mothers VLR on mine
Put wd40 silicone oil on it to help it keep moisturized
good job
Thanks
