I am Spanish and have been in the UK for a year. A lovely way to learn English and increase our vocabulary with you manner of teaching. Congratulations for being so good teacher.
Excellent articulation with appropriate examples make us understand thoroughly. Teaching with dedication is absolutely fantastic. Ma'am really enjoys in giving. The most significant feature in the teaching by Gill Ma'am is that the difficult things are made easy. The Spontaneous flow of quoting the apt instances is definitely praiseworthy. Long live the teacher and her family. So kind of you Ma'am.
Awesome! I love you Gill ... You give your lessons with so much love! It is so peaceful to look at you sharing your knowledge ! If the world was full of people like you it would certainly be delightful!
What a fabulous way of teaching you have!, ma'am really I don't have words to admire about you, you are an angel.Teacher,I try my best to watch and learn your every lecture. Thank you so much .
Thanks dear Gill, I love your videos, you have taught me a lot!! I've learnt the right way to speak the real English...love English more and more. Thanks again !!! Greetings from Lima-Perú 😚😚🌷🌷🌷🌷
You're fantastic, i'm sincere and can say to you, your classes are so good that until we what not understand i want mean the words that we don't know we managed to understand for supposition. Thanks very much. sorry about if i made mistake about incorrect words. i'm just studying for 6 months.
Hello Gill, i really love your lessons! They are beeing very helpfull to me (to me, or for me??? - please correct me if you could). I am from Brazil and actually, I am loving to learn English with you and hearing your beautiful accent!
The preposition _'to'_ has a direction - *to* wards the object _'me'_ (or _'you'_ etc.). The preposition _'for'_ has not, it's kinda static, thus indicating a more general meaning, like helpful for you but also for others, maybe helpful for everybody, hence you could also just say _'It's very helpful.'_ , meaning, in general, not only for you. But if you want to say that something is helpful particularly for you, when the help, the information _comes_ in handy for your personal purposes, then it has a kinda direction towards the object, it _comes_ in and goes where? To you. The better choice would be _'to me'_ . But when you just hope that something would be helpful for somebody else, you'd rather say _'I hope, this information was helpful for you.'_ , but again, then you could also say _'I hope, this was helpful.'_ In general, not knowing if it was helpful indeed. There's another theory, that _'to'_ is more used for persons and _'for'_ for objects/things, like _'helpful for doing something/ a job/ a project'_ but _'helpful to sb.'_ . Don't know if I like this explanation, because something can also be helpful for you, just in a more general meaning, because it's not helpful exclusively for you but probably also for others. On the other hand, you'd certainly never say, something is helpful _to_ a project, this sounds odd. It seems inappropriate to use _'to'_ for objects or things. Helpful _to_ a project? Nah, _'to'_ seems to be reserved for the exclusive use for persons as an object in a sentence, and not for things. But before you decide which one of the two you use, ask yourself if you have to use either of them at all. And soon you will find that you use to/for only to express that something is helpful especially to/for you, but not necessarily also for others or when you can not know if it's also helpful for others. So, when something like any kind of help _comes in_ handy (already indicating a movement), then it moves towards you ( _to_ the grammatical object in the sentence) and you want to express it by using _'to'_ , similarly indicating this movement. Then it's helpful _to_ you (but maybe not helpful for others, which we can hardly ever judge what helps others and what does not). I hope, this was helpful. ;)
First of all, thank you for your enjoyable lessons, then I'd like to ask you about the possible 13th one: Counter (as counterclockwise, counterintuitive) Can we consider it a negative prefix as well?
Yes, good question -- "counter" works as a negative prefix in the examples you've given :-) A similar one is "contra" as in "contradict". Basically, "counter" and "contra" mean "against".
Up until now, I didn’t know the word “theist” is a different word from “atheist” 🤷🏻♀️ (the commonly used). Thank you Gill, I am theist, a believer of God, a Christian precisely 😍😃
Excellent classes on Negative Prefixes in English. A few facts about the meaning of BIOTA for your students .... Biol. Characteristic of or referring to living beings. adj. Biol. Pertaining to or related to biota. F. Biol. Set of fauna and flora of a region..Thanks Professor Gill !!!

Opposite of clockwise, usually we say counterclockwise, is it right?
