If you're to go about building one of these, where would you practice? Would these be aloud on your local track with cars? Or is this going to be something more along the lines of there needs to be a local club?
You know what's a damn shame? I don't think there's a single game with these vehicles in it. Closest might be MotorStorm: Pacific Rift's Lunar-Tec Treefrog and even that thing is a bit bigger than these.
Insted of a 600cc four cylinder, I would prefer a Panthera pm09-22, 600cc, single cylinder, fuel injected, 6 speed, two stroke. The old 550cc carb version had 102hp and 72 lbs of torque and weighs only 72lbs the new version could have as much as 120hp which is what sports bike engines have but the Pantheras are 70ish lbs lighter and have more torque. The gsxr 750 has 83lbs, 70lbs not in a 700lbs vehicle is a lot, more could be removed by replacing the coil overs with air shocks. Australia has a similar but much lighter buggy named The Terra Racer, it is under 500lbs but powered by a Yamaha 450cc and probably not strong enough for a Panthera.
and now i know this kind of go kart exists... and i already want to see if local laws accept that crazy shit at at least smaller street legal (no way in hell can you convince me to drive on a highway with a go kart... i have a small brain, but even my peanut knows not to do that) for kicks. It's right about this point in most of my ideas that I see the price tag and move on.
Sounds like you in America, if so you can drive a trash can with trolly wheels and not get hassled, lol, but there is a guy with a YT channel with a street legal one of these, can't remember the name or what State, but shouldn't be hard to find him if you look

Kart cross isn’t popular in America. The races are often in Europe - mostly in Italy
Quite popular in Sweden and Finland for example.

What engines would they have in them?
Typically 600cc motorcycle engines, think of the honda cbr600rr or the yamaha r6, it's absolute insanity having 130hp+ engines on 310kg karts!

How many cc are those engines ?
Most probably 600cc or 1000cc inline 4's from bikes. But I'm tilting more towards 600 cc bcz the 600's revv upto 16k on bikes, while the 1000's don't
Newer chassis from companies like Speedcar, semog and life most likely will come with a 750cc gsxr motor

They have lower top speeds so id imagine not. They also have a smaller wheel base so they don’t really corner as well.
