Im so glad i found this channel... ive downloaded.. (i mean bought...*cough.) just about every samurai film i could find. Ive only watched Sanjuro and Yojimbo.. both awesome.. but i dont know what to watch next. Ran? Rashoman? Zatoitchi? Throne of blood? Ahhhh!!
Thank you! With Akira kurosawa I have a weird way of picking when I want to watch something, the weather. Rashomon, throne of blood and seven samurai on rainy days, ikiru when it's snowing, and ran, Kagemusha and hidden fortress on sunny warm days. You should prioritize watching all of Akira Kurosawa's samurai films before anything else
my Criterion arrived today going to spin it tonight. If anyone's on the fence Amazon has it for $20 now and as far as the extras and the packaging goes A++
I am glad you covered this film, I have been putting off watching it but you convinced me to bump it up in the cue. On a side note I just finished watching Bunta Sugawara in Cold Wind Monjiro 1-2. I don't know anything about the films production but it shares a lot with another series I just viewed "The Trail of Blood Trilogy". I don't see anyone else reviewing these might want to check em out.
A devastating masterpiece of unparalleled beauty.Just finished it last week and what an absolute beast of a film it was.Very few film managed to evoke such powerful emotions but Sansho the Bailiff done it so effortlessly yet masterful.Truly unforgettable!
@@bushidoblues9302 Anyone who has ever not helped their mom wash the dishes should avoid viewing! I stopped watching known sad movies after that & then “Poetry” … just can’t take it anymore
I will have to look for it. I have the Criterion Channel app, so hopefully, it's on there. This one is currently, and I just watched it. It's more relevant in today's world than it was when it was made, I believe.
Classic - very emotional.
Anyone who says they dont like old movies just hadnt seen the right ones.

@@bushidoblues9302 will do man! And thanks for the reply!
you can't go wrong with any of them, but RAN is a good place to start. its maybe my favourite movie of all time
I would find the best Blu-ray you can of RAN a torrent is not going to do it justice.
Since it’s been a year, what was your favorite?
Great review 👍
Thank, you!
One of the 10 greatest films ever made.
Easily. So underrated.
It's on my 10 best list too.
Sansho is probably THE greatest film ever made.

Great movie finally watched it. It reminds me of the old classic Bollywood movies I grew up on, so deep, emotional and memorable.

2nd saddest movie I’ve ever seen (“The Story of the Last Chrysanthemums”, the saddest)
I recently picked up a copy of the story of the last chrysanthemums. I look forward to being sad haha

Hey mate, just curious - what is the first track in the background? Really cool.
The first track is actually from the film. The space sounding one I have to get back to you on haha.
Just watched it. Wow that was remarkable. I thought I was going to cry.
Glad you liked it. It really is a masterpiece.
