    Nice tips! I think one of the hardest decisions in the game is whether to snap a card or draw from the deck. I'm sure it's something I still get wrong a lot of the time. But it is a huge part of how the top players can achieve such high win rates. Snapping is what mitigates the luck aspect of card draw and these players know exactly when to snap and when to hope for something better.

      I think Snapping is generally better in early game and drawing is better in mid-late game. At the beginning of the game a high percentage of cards are either literally or practically unplayable, increasing the chance your card draw is useless. Later on you have more money, you're meeting more conditions and if you've upgraded Cards you can grab some cards from Rep range too!

      Some tips to make it easier: In the early rounds your hand size is a big limitation. Snapping is easier to manage your hand size. It somewhat depends where you are with projects. If you need a specific icon and there is nothing on the track, go for the deck. The purple snap reward is very powerful as you get the snap AFTER discarding down to hand size - it's on par with the purple 5 money reward I think. IF your opponent has higher rep than you, snapping is the only way to guarantee key cards. But beware of brining a new card into their range. I think my key point though is it entirely depends on whether key sponsors (e.g. Side Entrance, Federal Grants) or key project icons are in the track. If so, snap, otherwise draw.

    Why would they change attacking cards ?

    Thanks for the tips! Everyone is saying how important to get up two steps on the Conservation track, but no one says which of the choices is better! Sure, you could say "it depends", but isn't there one of them that is usually better?! I would think it's getting one more association worker?

      Great question! It is almost always correct to go for the card upgrade. Some of the top players will at times go for the worker when the break is expected to last a bit longer and it is crucial to take snapping as the reward. But such cases are rare and difficult to determine, so the safest bet is to go for the upgrade. However, it is important to try different approaches for the sake of learning. Hopefully this provides some clarity. (For reference, this is coming from someone with hundreds and hundreds of games played on board game arena with a 75% win rate and who frequently watches high level gameplay)

      @@Jonatan-y6m Thank you so much for your extensive reply! Pretty odd that this hasn't been addressed before (well, at least on the teaching videos that I have watched...). About the card upgrade: That is interesting because people have quite different opinions about that. Since "Build" seems to come at least in second place I will go for that when in doubt. :)

    You say that you learn a lot by playing solo, which solo mode do you like to play? From the box or the arlo mode?

    • @WSBGofficial
      @WSBGofficial  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I've just played from the box solo (BGA has a solo option if you don't want to set it all up), where it takes away one cube every time a refresh happens, really like how it keeps a timer on your game.

    Great tips! I would probably add "Don't overbuild" to that list. It's a money sink that you should limit to those enclosures that are strictly necessary.
    And regarding your tip about efficiency, I think it's what has personally helped me the most to go from top 500 to top 20 on BGA: In average, the winner of a game in BGA takes 35 turns. If you can end the game in 30-32, it's very unlikely that you will lose against most opponents. So avoid mucking around taking empty actions as much as you can and just go for pure point efficiency: you don't win by scoring high, you win by scoring one more point than your opponent

      That's impressive, and I'm happy for you that you've found satisfaction in boosting your efficiency. But (and I recognize this may not be the video to make this comment) when I play Ark Nova I think it's more fun to play more at a more leisurely pace, taking time to appreciate the zoo I'm building and imagining what it would be like to visit it. Oh course, that also lengthens out the game, so there's the tradeoff.

    What's the fun in using third-party provided strategies in order to win a board game. Did you really win?

    • @marksilverman
      @marksilverman ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Yes, you really did win. You think, like, Magnus Carlsen isn't really a chess champion because he studied strategy instead of inventing everything from scratch?

      Yes, you literally did win. Literally every successful competitor ever has studied strategies from other people. What a braindead take.

      Depends on what is fun for you. Some people find fun in playing a beautiful game and that requires study.

      Dude…. It is like arguing that you should not go to school to get a professional career? Not listen to a coach in sports? Not study and learn traffic rules? Just wing it and learn it as you go, really? Although if your thing is to through discovery yourself?then, have it a go it seems yo be a game with many layers
