For the past several years I've seen my local Buddhist temple have low standards of performance for the lion dance. I've reached out to the local monks to see if I can put together a training regimen to help the performers for the upcoming festival.

I really wanna be a lion damcer but 1..im not very flexible, i think im oberweight for my age, idk anything about the tradition, i dont live in asia and much more...
But i wont give up.
Im only 9 so i got quite a bit of time

There are many lion dance groups in the US or Europe and you can go watch groups around lunar new year (which just passed)
You’re still young and don’t worry about flexibility for lion dancing, you just need to be light on your feet. Always got time to improve!

Our style is a variant of the Hok San style. If you look up Hok San lion dance music, you'll hear many of the same beats (though perhaps under different names)!
