- What types of missions are just on the horizon? This week on Star Citizen Live, we have the mission and economy teams popping the hood open on how a contract is built, plus a discussion on what's next for delivery duties in Alpha 3.24.

Jared: Hey everybody, I'm old and tired.
Me too Jared, me too
after over a decade of waiting for this game to be finished - jup me too
I'm Now 42 YO !!!!! FFS !!!! The joke was that the game was going to come out when we retired, but it sounds more and more like reality! I've been waiting for this game since 2014!
that's why I stopped playing this game and I'm trying to forget it completely because I'm really fed up with it.
and then it becomes more and more complicated to have fun in this game. Once you have done everything there is to do, there is nothing more to do. Total boredom.
@@ledocteurgonzo didn't Jared buy his father a Cutlass black and talk about how he was excited to fly around the verse with him when the game was ready?..... is his dad still alive?...
i felt that in my soul
Sounds like we need roads connecting these facilities on planets and moons
Stanton Truck Driver: Fury Road
A ship can move faster than a ground vehicle, and easily navigate canyons, mountains, rivers and other things that make road travel slow
We need roads regardless. All our land vehicles were designed for roads.
The ony reason hoverbikes work offroad is because of how high they levitate, but they also can't adjust to uneven terrain the way a present day offroad vehicle would.
Absolutely we do. Especially for high volume or high weight, low value materials (cement, gravel, water etc). Imagine how efficient a trucking train could be in low gravity on a mining moon.
@@zeroxception 1) There is a part of the playerbase that isn't really into ships and wants a ground lifestyle/career/gameplay
2) There are plans in place for things like weather effects to make using ground vehicles necessary
3) Roads connecting outposts is a basic element of realistic depiction of planets, even if nobody was intending to travel them
If you or someone you know, knows a chair that's been punched, please reach out to Jared.
Seems like chat also forgets that CIG also adjusts rewards as soft driver for things they especially want tested. Which of course leads to repeated complaints of "nerfing X". Do not pledge for a ship because in the current state of **an alpha** it makes big bucks, this can change at any time.
"What do you mean they might know you? To play your mission is to know you?"
"Oh yeah. That's basically my whole personality."
Dude goes hard. Makes a dang good sell for those missions.
At this point I would like to suggest that it would make sense for players who are well advanced in their cargo hauler reputation to offer LOW volume, high reward, high risk missions. Not everyone can or wants to automatically switch to a large ship and the game would therefore also cover the interests of single players or smaller groups of cargo haulers.
They will get right on that... just wait.
the mike digs 😂
we need added functionality to mo.trader to allow for player to player sub-contract cargo hauling. we also need a dispensary function on our hangars to allow player to player pickups/drop-offs, that do not compromise hanger integrity. and the ability to report contract failures to relevant authorities.
rewatched this one. So informative. Cargo Missions
Interesting. We need working missions, and hopefully ones designed and scaled for co-op play.
I hate solo missions and prefer to head in with friends. It would be great if mission pay/difficulty scaled with group size
I like solo missions, but I agree completely, large cargo operations, organizing a convoy of ships and/or ground vehicles.
Edit: I forgot to mention, they showed while using their EvR tool, there is a section where they can set the level of difficulty, 2 setting shows, hard to do solo and need help or logistically complex can't be done solo. 25:13
That is so sweet they made a cargo mission just for Jack Axton.
Can we please get high-speed delivery ships and missions specifically for those?
Like smaller amounts of maybe high value items that need to get from one place to another within a certain time frame, or the faster you deliver them the more money you get?
Also...😯 I want an Aegis Dymaics chair...
I know the game is called “STAR Citizen” but I’d really like to see the game become a more live setting. Where there is significant colony base story play.
Story line content that sticks to a specific planet.
Cool guys, loved the show - and more to come, cant wait 💖
58:18 😎
I hope the idea of astronomical ship prices evolve with, the evolution of "what 4k credits is worth" also... grinding can be fun, but people still want to have fun. Not grind for a month to just get a ship.
SO excited to finally have more cargo stuff to do! :D
Coming from being an OTR Driver and a dedicated driver, oh....I know full well the importance of how to situate your cargo lol.. Ship choice and floor plans are going to be extremely important for different types of hauling.
This one was really great.
Thanks folks .
Hopefully, when they to think of alternative rewards they add other missions and gameplay where you can meet new contacts or mission givers that can give you more lucrative or unique (one off) missions that can serve as feathers in your cap for that type of career path. For instance, if you perform really well with contract hauling and you make deliveries on time, you'd be trusted to haul a feature like the gear sculpture at Area 18 or you transported a big deadly creature to a famous zoo or you were enlisted to make drug runs for operations like Air America or the Cocaine Cowboys. Basically, anything that can give players unique bragging rights that peers would admire.
A fantastic video
Can we get these shart somehow?? I love logistics and i wannt to read all of it!
and also, i have 2 refinery questions. Why wouln't the larger companies send good to refineries that has bonuses to that material? it should in large quantity increase the value of the cargo.
and will we as players also be able to refine commodities we bought, or is that limited to large corporations?
Big Benny’s Noodle Delivery Boy missions please! 🙏
Space tetris, heck yeah!
We have an economy? 😂
Seriously do we?
Have you tried to sell RCM lately? The huge supply has killed demand. Its annoying but is a perfect example of too much supply
To CIG: For reference, you can currently make 600k/hour running bounty missions using Corsair, so 46k/hour for delivery is completely invalid for ONE person, let alone for a group, that's ridiculous, you really need to play the game or at least listen to your players. Please balance it, otherwise literally NO ONE will do these delivery missions that you worked so hard on. 600k/hour bounty hunting video: th-cam.com/video/gdGja926rHM/w-d-xo.html
Where can i get one of these chairs? 🤩 I will not punch it, promised.
Jack got a call out!
If one cannot say anything possitive, one should refrain from uttering words. Alas Jhaired got an excellent hairday.... Front to bottom! He could even win prizes with it I claim! Uncle Sam wants you KNOW!!
*Excellent show with cool info btw. 4k for a non-battle cargo mission which you can do 5 an hour of sounds good.
Anvil x Drake, that's a 10/10 developer mood
Some people deserve to be made fun off sometimes. 😂 wait.... i also gotta punch the chair.
I love the confidence the econo.y guy has. But i also have to ask: what economy? This example with the fake numbers is totally off. Looks like "pulled from somewhere but not economy".
Its a 10 min easy trip. And can be 112 SCU Titanium and gives (fake number) 4250 aUEC. Do you guys have an idea what kind of ships in takes to make this contract work? MSR, Freelancer Max, Conni Taurus. Is fuel and repair now free? And i have to do it by hand, because auto load qould get me a negative u
Income. And that is only if nothing goes wrong.
I understand that its not all that easy and people should make to much money. But this is rediculously low. You make more money from delivering 1/8th SCU boxes in a starter ship than you make by do serious cargo hauling and delivering 112 SCU of titanium?
Ok, here is the deal: i take the contract for 5k. But i only have to deliver 8 SCU of cargo, so i can take a reasonable ship like my Titan for that very low startership payment.
Seriously people, i can see the need to show something and maybe not the real deal. But it has to be at least reasonable. This example is not. Not at all.
Than i rather use my cargo ships to ship RMC and CM i collected at a space station with my Vulture to a TDD and stay with merc and bounty hunting.
Y'all have an Argo chair for purchase? I have no interest in punching it though. That's mean. 😉👍
See? There's no Drake chair because the duct tape broke and the whole thing came apart
What happened to the next SCL?
Thanks! Great show, was looking forward to something like this for a long time!
The time calculation for that mission is way off reality. You forgot to take into account: The time to walk inside stations, to buy sustenance, to get into your ship, set the destination in the map, open the hangar doors, get back from the destination in case you have multiple runs to complete the delivery, etc.
Will there be gameplay for hulling livestock ??? like the porkchop express????
20k/an hour is still pretty low.
Very cool episode.
old and tired? welcome brother 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Really interesting episode, but I genuinely loved York and Nicks puns and laughs, made me chuckle lots of times
I HOPE EVERYONE HAD AMAZING SMELLING BREATH😂. you guys were pretty close .
Realistically don't think they should be called LEO's since that means Low Earth Orbit, perhaps Planetary Low Orbit or PLO's since we're a long way from Earth.
So in terms of rewards beyond money you mean like, I hit a certain rep level with covalex as a hauler I now get to wear a covelex uniform for lower rep rank or a covelex EVA suit for a higher rep rank to commemorate being given access to interplanetary missions?
I was in my room punching my chair but didn't miss a thing.
I'm hyped for next week! Uber interested in the infrastructure teams and their shenanigans.
Oh. I see now.
Ya if your economy is driven first and foremost by this being a game - then that's cool, but it will never make for an immersive economic simulation as some have advertised the game would be. I think it's really important SC, as a project, rope in the marketing.
... because of the risk inherant to mercenary/combat missions, the cost per hour to hire a mercenary to escort a freighter is never going to feel believable.
NPCs will always be doing jobs that don't make economic sense for them to engage in just to provide resistance in the combat missions - it can never be immersive.
womp womp. *punches chair*
Will missions that become stale. ie. missions that no one is running. Have there price for completion increase to entice players to look at that mission.
Doubtful since there are tons more invisible Quanta NPC agents than players that can and will pick up the slack.
Can I store the mining products in my hangar and use them to complete the new quests.?
sure if you have hours and hours to spent
This is great, ty for good video. What a tan this Lando has.
Jared, thank you for your personality, sir. Don't ever change.
how about we get a new underground mission. we've had the same underground mission for several years.
Lol Mike
This is a good episode but it needs more Tony Z.
Also, will miners and salvagers be able to sell to these commodity trader or doing the missions with their own sourced resources?
Somehow, with every sequential update this year, they somehow find a way to make the game worse. Glad to see the "hotfix" now causes crash to desktop, ships becoming "destroyed" when you try to store them and 30k crashes that don't recover.
Do you think they'll fix any of that with 3.24? Probably not. Just push more content that will break the game even further.
Salte punches his chair all the time. its a bit Jared dont take it personally 😂
Are they all high?
46k in an hour solo, or 45 mins with 2 extra crew, not worth.
"Nothing ever goes wrong in Star Citizen" - That's riddiculous afirmation, in a game where everything goes wrong somehow, for bug, glitch, or anything like that. A lot of things need attention to be repair. I look this afirmation and think: "This guys playing another game, cause my version is not that." I have a propose to everyone that agree with this afirmation, stop a little seing the game on a paper like future vision and go will true play. Cause me and my friends spend hours sit and playing and still believe yet. So this is my plea, make this words become true, cause we have waiting for so long.
they will add, just for you, next time, /s at the end
"Know how to beat AvengerOne" in the difficulty section lol
Goood! keep it up !
Reddit, Spectrum and many of the TH-cam Creators are bad source for feedback in my opinion, compared to game analytics even more.
It reflects maybe 5-10% of the real player base and is just a race for the "loudest opinion", not the most factual. TH-cam is the worst, as hysteria and negative exaggeration gets even more attention.
So Jared……. the new Aurora ?…….. 😂
"If you're SaltEMike go ahead and punch your chair now" 😂
Salt e mike math: hm a 1 hour video, I guess I could make a 5 hour video out of this 😊
Needed: Chair-punching animations.
oh heres the time stamp : p 4:07
salte chairs.
This is possibly one of the best SCLs ever imo. I loved seeing actual designer input on mission creation and the amount of thought and care that has gone into cargo hauling with 3.24, my favorite profession which has gone lone forgotten. I finally feel seen as a player!
Yeah man. When it started I thought "great another boring filler ep." When it ended I wanted more.
These new SC live format are genuinely wholesome. Loving every single second of it !
Dude in the middle looks like bored gamers son.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Ahlright !
And the dude on his left sounds like it
Not edited 😅
@@Revster the dude on /his/ right is Jared ;p but yeah
Haha saw the comment first, loved it. Saw him, Holy 😂 yep
we are all old and tired waiting for the jumpoint to be activated ... come on guys lets us going to PYRO / not just dropping the boxes at Jump point ...
i like this approach. having someone shooting, tech, design heavy questions on the spot. great execution this time around. i really like the back and forth.
This was fun!
Agreed, these two were brilliant and informative without making things too complex to understand
20K/h ? Do they know things like mining or cargo hauling earn 200K+/h ?
they finally show @JackAxton some love LMAO you made it buddy maybe you'll get the lobster news now
This is a pretty interesting episode. Jared, I appreciate you pulling this one together. I really like the shots of the tool that they use. It's pretty interesting
30:55, who has time to spend 2 hours packing and unpacking stuff, this sounds like Tetris more than a space shooter lol. I want them to make the devs pack and unpack things for 2 hours and play what they are proposing, it sounds good in theory but in practice most people won't have time to cargo load their big ships 1 crate at a time. 33:03 wtf....................... are you kidding me? It's so hard finding people to help you do what you want to do in SC as is, and in the future when things will be worth less and cost more, who will help you? Has to be NPCs
This would be a good time to change the "LEO" (low EARTH orbit) moniker; since there is no Earth in Stanton.
Perhaps "GSO", for Geo-Stationary Orbital? As they are stationary over the large ground stations. For example.
Years from now, there will be hundreds of Geo-Stationary Orbitals around many planets; ONE of them, Earth.
"but i think we're selling new chairs soon" hahah

I hope a mission could be made to deliver ship components for players by players . eg a player A orders a QT drive from Cousin crows to be delivered to New Babbage for player B that ordered it on a new thing called the internet ( Mobiglass ) when it get delivered then Player B can fit it to their own ship to save them a trip
Would you trust some rando to not just steal your expensive component?
What about mining missions?
Old and tired because of waiting for the 700 million experiment to come out of alpha 😂 .. 12 year wait and still counting 😮
you guys are ... ??? 1 hour to make 20k ??? go get a different job !!!
Umm this is an mmo. You don't progress within a couple days grind.
@@djlord77 atm is more like a POS than an mmo
The rewards you give for missions are so trivial they should just be removed.
The content drip is painfully slow. Ad more staff here plz.
how about a mission to fix the Conny's windshield lol
would be cool if you had missions to deliver a ground vheical some place or something.
Cool idea, suggest it in spectrum

I'm old and tired, waiting on this game to finish.
29:00 Its still a joke of a reward considering the fuel and equipment cost.
They do need to go up,
Be grateful while it lasts.
Not too bad but I do think it should be a *tad* higher (6-9.5k) range.
I think Jared is the best front man for any video game ever! Just saying. He's connects us to so many things in the game we love. ty Jared. sincerely, thank you.
Soo.. Is Tony not working on Quanta anymore?
Yeah, about this thousand buck Chairs.... Anybody buying 1000 buck chairs? My neck was doing The Mamooshka when I saw the price.... I mean... 170 bucks and I might consider...
wont leave alpha until 2030
Fake numbers aside, anything that requires quantum travel or playing more than a Nomad’s worth of slow Tetris, and pays less than 3% of a mustang alpha is simply not worth the time, however little. (Ship-based economics ftw)
The EVR system also doesn’t account for glitches in the slightest, which can easily turn 10 minutes of work into an hour, even with friends to help out. Sure in an ideal world those won’t be a factor, but unfortunately…well you know.
Pessimist outlook I know, but box missions (pre-cargo missions) have always been the worst option for profits. Looking forward to seeing how they make these missions profitable. (Over any other profession)
Official tony z is gone?
Can we just clarify that going forward devs should absolutely NOT be sourcing ideas from Spectrum? That just seems incredibly stupid, unless Spectrum has somehow been purged, swept clean, and reconstituted in the past ~12 months that I've pathologically refused to used Spectrum.
CIG i love it, but you need to figure out a way how to pay players even if boxes bug out. Reduce payment but dont make missions uncompletable as they are now as soon as the first box bugs out or glitches thru a floor or what ever. People dont even vote up issue council about the delivery missione right now as propably noone cares to try anymore.
When we will see SQ42 release?
Popping an ERT inside 20min and getting around 65k (if the torp hits) is still a far greater option for your time (by this early-stage calculation) IMO... then bounty hunting 2.0 might change that.
Seraphin to CRU-L1 mission is not 10 minuts.
Get the mission, call the elevator, load the materials, get into pilot seat, call the flight control, get into position to jump, again get into hangar, unload and finish.
If you are normal person 13+ minuts so you can make around 16k which is still good if you are lucky to get jobs so you can bounce between two points.
Great video guys! I wanted to throw this out there: I think it would be cool to see npc cargo ships move around the station, docking and jumping to quantum. If this is a large performance hit, it could be limited to the typically npc spawn ship spawn of 3 ships and could have nothing to do with the star sim. Just an idea to make the verse feel more "alive".
The most efficient way could be to deliver like 90% of the cargo and keep 10%. Just so much that you barely get a bigreputation hit but can sell stuff for a bit extra cash. Im not a fan of these things but in mmos its always like that. But that system already minimizes the urge of abusing the system which is great. If it somehow gets made to completely kill the urge to abuse it it would be extremely nice.
I would love to buy ships with money earned with missions, up till now I did mainly delivery missions, which gave me a starter money to get into a rented freelancer and start trading gold for real money… But without that and doing only cargo missions with kind of similar pay as delivery, I could not spend the time to earn enough. So please let me buy a ship with under a 100 hour grind.
Can you all at CIG integrate an AI voice that will read the information in a voice of our choice? Perhaps the young lady who greets at the base in New Babbage… would be taking the game to that level above… What say you?
The Calculation Stuff is missing one thing: "you can do it quicker with a crew" - but the crew needs to get payed also. So please add this to calculation also.
