Got really inspired. Went out to the garage as soon as i got home and tried removing paint from a door wich i’ve been working on with 40 grid, but with a steelbrush-wheel like you use. Wow. Thanks for the tip. What a difference. Couldn’t stop😄
So great that you show were you´ve tried and it didn´t quite work (like the rear right corner) so that we others can learn something. Kind of the whole idea with this thing youtube. Then if some people want to bring others down, well, the world´s full of them. Keep sharing.
Just tuned in to your channel today, take no notice of those trying to beat you down, it’s interesting and talk to us more about what your doing, name the products as well. I’m going to start work on an LX Torana I’ve had for 10 years.
I think your doing an awesome job Gunny. Nothing wrong with having bog in a car as long as it's done properly, which is what your doing. Looking forward to seeing this old classic on the road one day. 👌
I'm sure the door will be fine. Lead loading was another option of course, I've only done a bit but it does feel quite rewarding! Keep up the good work dude!
I’ve had to do very similar repairs to my MK2 Escort so I can definitely relate to this video series. As for what others think, at the end of the day you’re not trying to fool anyone as it’s your car and you’ll be keeping it. There’s no way you’d do some things the same way on a customer car so it’s your call how you fix it. All things considered you’re doing better repairs on your car than 95% of shops do for paying customers when they’re supposed to be fitting new parts. Great to see something so different on the channel dude 👍🏻
The 'Sparrow' brand paint stripper discs do a good job stripping paint and thick bondo. I had to remove a fat chunk of bondo recently and those purple discs were great. More gentle on the metal than abrasives, so you have more thickness to weld to.
I think you are doing an amazing job Gunny, it's not my place to give my opinion on how well your doing the project as I don't have the skills or experience at car resto's I've only done one which was in my back yard but you are pretty much doing it the same way as I did mine. Keep going mate and don't let the armchair experts get you down, the project is progressing well👏🙏👍 John UK.
G'day, Thing's are coming along nicely. And at the end of the day you have to keep in mind your budget at work with in that budget. ✌️ Peace from Melbourne 3810
Good stuff, bit of metal lego to do at the back there but she's coming along nicely. The best thing about doing your own car, if anything shows up on that door in 5-10 years, you can just do it again, no drama at all.
I don’t know if this will help you but someone told me to use a heat gun and a putty knife on old body filler. I tried it on an old door and it worked. The heat softens the filler so it’s easy to scrape off. Not trying to be a know it all ,just thought it might help.
Something off topic if you can help me i am having trouble getting used to my te20 for pro lite with my clear coat can you recommend me settings that are helpful for you.
Loving this. Can I ask a huge favour? When you get to re-installing all the window rails and mechanisms in the doors is there any chance you could do a video on it? It’s been about 8 years since I pulled mine out and I have NFI how to put them back in 😅
Hell yea brother 👊 mate im working on a charger that was painted in 1996. And the amount of bog over the hole car is crazy. All still killa just sides shrank back abit made her look wavy. But no cracking or other defects. Lol 🤣
It's surprising how much bog you can put in. One important thing is letting it shrink, I have no issue because I am in no rush, but in shops where they just want to bog & flog to make money, they can shrink.
Hey guys i really need some help I have devilbiss flg5 1.4mm I been spraying some concept HS clear recently. Blue bottle stuff And it's not hardening when drying? Even waiting over a week in the sun I can still engrave the paint and mark it with the edge of a ziptie. Or my fingernail. Surely this isn't normal. Could this be the clear. Or gun. Or? I've tried spraying it on hot day. Colder day. No thinner. More thinner. Tried 0/5/10 nothing chances except finish look. It comes up glossy but hates a sand and polish... I've also had this issue with concept MS clear. Helppppp
Good to see another point of view. Canadians had shitter cars during the 1970s a 1 or 2 year old brand new cars were rotting out so we got a lot of experience. Until the foreign invasion of cars came in the big 3 had to smarten up or go under.
Because, depending on where you live, finding one that actually strips paint without having to re-apply it about 20 times is virtually impossible nowadays. The health and safety madmen have now removed all the active ingredients from paint stripper so that it barely works. As far as I can see, there is a product called Cooper strip which is made in New Zealand that looks like it might do the job, but it is super-expensive.
gunny a good trick for putting filler in that back door is use a long plasterers blade i have one that is 2 foot wide i throw the filler in with a normal putty applicator then drag the large plasterers blade over it then walk away till it dries you then start sanding on a flat surface not a wobbly one and it saves time cheers glenn

Yeah I had a 2nd one on your last post. Getting stupid silly now. As your work is coming along nicely now. Love from 🇬🇧 .
Good too see a real world home garage restoration instead of the money no object ones.👍
If you don't know already, "Fitzee's fabrications" is a good channel to watch for fabrication tips.
Definitely, Fitzee is well worth watching especially for learning how to repair metalwork to a high standard while at the same time economically.

keen to see this done and the c200!

Great video 👍👍👍
Another great vid gunny, almost getting to like torana's 😂😂😂
There's U Tube videos on how to replace a door skin. Either way, be patient and all that hard work will pay off. It's coming along very nice👌
I could have figured it out, but another part was the pricetag. She'll be right mate 😊

Thanks 👍
Gunny you should metal solder with led to fill the dents and never worry about it
I won't be doing that

Hahaha it's pretty intuitive, but I will say there's only just enough room to fit everything, that rear door glass is tight AF lol

Try to keep it garaged when its done im sure its gonna last.
Great video mate. Are you using any filter or fan setup in there to extract your epoxy and 2k?
I do, I run 2 fiberglass filters then through the extraction fan, then a big charcoal filter which removes the odor.
That crazy amount of bodyfiller on the door made me cringe. I would never be able to sleep at night had i done that to a project.😂.
Soft as butter
Love the epoxy primer. What brand you using? 2pac?
I'll be using Quartz from here on, Used U-Pol for this door, definitely 2K.
Yikes $500 for a door skin, that's insane.
Why didn't you use paint remover on the door ? !!!
I did, it's called a 9" buff pad :)

Where abouts are you gunman? I’ve got plenty of rust cuts from a uc. Also restoring a lh torana, pretty rare colour, ever heard of cycleman?
