Did Qatar Airways miss the mark with their new 787-9 business suite?

That's the earliest version of Adient Ascent seat. Actually, phase 2 seats with 2" more pitch and a storage in armrest are installed on their newest 787-9s delivered from 2023. You'll feel it's a lot better when you fly it, but it's very rare yet.

you know what... we flew 9 hours from doha to cape town immediately after this and I think I just misspoke! I believe this one was between 6 and 7 hours, you're totally right!

@@thezacharyburrabel oh yes that’s true. DOH-CPT is roughly 9 hrs so I think on a 6ths day flight it’s not that big of a deal not to get PJs. Hope you got them on the way to CPT then! We got PJs on DOH-DUS (6:20hr) but it was a complete night flight.
