    This will be super helpful. My bunny broke her leg and had to undergo surgery to get it fixed, she now has plates and has recovered really well. But my vet and I have talked about the increased chance that she has to get arthritis in her leg because of the surgery and the plates inside, so I want to be as educated as possible to help her if she ever starts struggling

    My little bunny passed away 2 weeks today. I got him 18 months ago from a rescue centre. He was approx 6 years old but came with so many health issues. Unfortunately he had his incisors rasped and went down hill from there as had multiple heart attacks. I’m gutted but will have more bunnies but not yet. Love vlogs-really helpful

    I don't expect a reply. But I am desperate and need some advice. I've watched your videos for a long time and hope you can help.
    My beautiful little bunny coco passed away yesterday at the age of 7 amd a half years. She was a medium lop breed.
    I've had many bouts of bloat and stasis with her and she was not showing any of these symptoms.
    She had the same pellet feed since 12 weeks of age and loved it. Around 3 weeks ago she stopped eating her pellets. I immediately assumed stasis or bloat but she was still regularly munching on her hay and Seagrass house. I upped her hay intake and kept trying to invite her with her favourite leaves etc but she just wasn't interested.
    Like I say this has been going on for 3 weeks. I've just had a c section and have a 14 month old and a 5 week old so I've been heavily preoccupied looking after the babies. But I have been keeping a very close eye on her.
    She was still pooping up until the end. It was decreased in the amount but still a normal size and not concerning.
    In the last week before she died she was acting out of the ordinary. She never really bothered with my son playing around her (she was kept in a 2m by 2m pen) then all of a sudden everytime he went near her pen. She was darting towards him. Or she would constantly want to be let out after almost 2 years of living in the pen and being perfectly happy. She started chewing the flooring of the pen. The last day or 2 before she passed, she would have random bouts of running around her pen. Which didn't seem out of the norm either. Also on Sunday she kept sort of wedging herself between things like the pen fence and her tray. Almost like she was trying to hide away. Yesterday morning she was running around all through the night and all morning then just went to her litter box. Layed flat with her head pressed into the hay.
    Due to me caring for my 2 babies I didn't see to her straight away (had i known she was dying i wouldn't have lefther side 😭) in the mid afternoon when my partner got home from work I told him to watch the babies whilst i sorted coco out. My first port of call was to entice her with her favourite leafs. I put them next to her and she didn't even react. I knew immediately something was seriously wrong. I stroked her head and it almost flopped but she was still conscious and moved it back. There was hay on her actual eyeball and she wasn't even reacting to it. I tried to wipe it out amd just knew she was dying. I sat and stroked her in her favourite place and told her how much i loved her and how sorry I was I didn't do more. Minutes later she passed 😭😭😭😭 there was no scream. No seizure. Nothing. She layed quietly. I stroked and loved her and sort of rolled to her side and took her last breath.
    I haven't stopped crying since yesterday. I absolutely feel guilty as hell. I didn't know she was dying and if I did I would of scooped her up and just cuddled and kissed her till she went. I feel like I could have done more. But I left her there for hours as I was so busy with the babies and she was dying the whole time 😢😢😢
    My question is. Do you think she died of old age?
    Like I say there was no signs of any ill health right up until the end. Her teeth were fine. She wasn't suffering from stasis or bloat. She didn't seem in any pain when she passed. What on earth caused her death??
    Do you think she knew how much I loved her and she was at peace?
    Please I hope you reply to me. I am desperate for answers

    I prefer to use oral glucosamine in the form of horse supplements measured out for my rabbits weight. I add it to my rabbits daily pellets.
    I use the dumor brand from tractor supply.
    My rabbit is a double recessive astrix rabbit. (Mr. Bigglesworth) when he was younger he didnt get what he needed because he is smaller.
    One of the reasons i believe this person has issues with her rabbits is because she doesn't feed pellets. Lulu isn't really that old. She is a dutch mix. Hearing her talk about her other rabbits also comferms my suspicions as well.

    • @101rabbits
      @101rabbits  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have not. Lulu gets extremely sick from processed food and has previously gotten sick from other oxbow supplements. That’s why I no longer give processed food. However, oral glucosamine supplements are definitely an option for some rabbits! I’ve heard the myristol glucosamine supplements are supposed to be good

    I have 2 Male un-neutered 10 month old rabbits. They are dwarf lionheads. I got them a new cage today and they will not stop fighting. They used to get along but I'm thinking they are fighting because of dominance problems? I cant afford to get them neutered or to get a second cage. I really really want to keep them because I love them so much but I might have to sell one. Could you please make a video on how to sell a bunny safely? I want him to go to a good home but I don't know how. I just cant believe they started fighting and I cant choose which one to keep I love them too much. And if you have an idea on how to keep them from fighting or why they might be fighting, please respond.

    • @NightPain
      @NightPain 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Two bunnies fighting who are unneutered is perfectly normal even if they were fine like 6 months ago or something since their hormones are kicking in. Don’t sell your rabbit but give them to an animal shelter to be adopted on

      @@tyler-d9974 You don’t actually know this persons situation or how these bunnies came into their care. Even with my first rabbits, they weren’t neutered and actually fought. They both had to be separated. I wasn’t knowledgeable and it’s the same for this person. Don’t judge. Educate

    Haley, this is an EXCELLENT video! So good that I’m going to share it with my Facebook rabbit group!
    One question: When I used Adequan on my cats, I was told by the vet to inject the medication into the hip area. Has your vet told you this is not necessary to be effective? If so, this is wonderful news! (I always used insulin syringes because their needles are super thin and comfy, which was especially important when injecting in the hip area.)

    • @101rabbits
      @101rabbits  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My vet taught me to do it under the neck and it has been very effective! I do not know if it is different with cats, but I will be asking my vet about this!

  • @nikitapatel3251
    @nikitapatel3251 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Has red light therapy made a significant difference for Lulu? I'm thinking of purchasing one (and asking my vet about Adequan), as metacam isn't 100% helping with my rabbit's pain.

  • @berts.2847
    @berts.2847 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Can bunnies get arthritis when they are three years old? My bunny is three, and it's kind of hard for him to stand on his back legs, groom himself, hard to stand up, falls over a lot, and it's kind of hard for him to lay down too. We took him to the vet, because he has had some knee injuries, but they said they are old ones and should be getting better soon. They gave us some medicine to give him, but he is still struggling with walking and standing.

    In their natural environment rabbits are eaten within two years. If a rabbit needs so much medicine it is clearly time to eat and replace the rabbit.
    Women who waste their affection and time on pets instead of adopting a man sould not be surprised if men developed aberrant behaviour due to loneliness.
