@@Franseven Yes same. The Closest one to the x2010 is McLaren MP4-X. I wish they plan to develop it ASAP. I Cringed a Lot when Leclerc's Spa Lap record was beaten by a Le-Mans no-Regulation Prototype. Its high time F1 retake the crown by making a F-Zero style car. No Regulations, no restrictions and just PURE SPEED!

@@Franseven cars like that was possible to built like 50 years ago. Can you imagine how difficult overtaking would be? even at shanghai circuit you wouldnt be able to do that.
The machine from 2004 is simpler, lighter and more agile considering that it does not even have full slick tires. Massa tested slick tires on an old 2008 car and it was 3 seconds a lap faster than grooved slicks.

Good video. Really shows how sluggish todays cars are. They look like cornering tanks...the 2004 cars were so agile. And they sounded phenomenal, not like vacuum cleaners.
2004, lighter , shorter wheelbase , massive power through the rpms and more agile but too high fuel consumption

Yeah, and need re-fueling that was dangerous but FiA could make safeir re-fuel instead quit it at all. F1 should be pure petrol engines. There is Formula E for those who love electrics cars. But hey, modern times

Plus...the cars nowadays sound so slow as well. I haven't watched F1 consistently especially after Schumi retired (again) and I was shocked when I watched an F1 race a couple of months ago...it's like listening to a Formula E car, but worse! I love the old cars roars, and that sound ...it pierces your ears with a clear definition of SPEED!

We didnt. The 2004 is way faster due to less drag and way better sticky tires.ferrari was in shock by how good acceleration and grip it has. The modern is more into corners. It goes slower by lots of arrow. The tires on the 2004 did its justice.
@@Minerva886 I'm sorry but no, in 2004 the tyres where significantly worse then today, they where grooved back then, proper slicks would of made then several seconds faster.
Dab Dab Goose i don’t think the slicks would work well on the F2004, because the car was built around the grooved. Using the slicks would made the car slower i think because of the airflow.

Actually, hp-wise, current cars are more powerful. They are way heavier though (about 150-200kg I guess).

2004 - More acceleration and top speed.
2020 - Faster in the corners.
Still, 2004 have grooved tyres, not slicks. And they don't open their wings to get even higher acceleration and top speed in the straights. Just imagine that 2004 car using DRS and reaching speeds of 370+ or even 380 in places like the Kemmel straight in Spa or in Monza after the parabolica.
And then... there's that sound. Simpler things sometimes are just better.

It seems like the 2020 Ferrari was really effected by the dirty air off the back of the F2004 when he got close in a corner
I knew those new small v6 hybrids weren't faster than v10s.. Plus remember the 2004 cars had grooved slicks to slow them down lol amazing
actually, they are faster then V10s. even though they are heavier, they produce more torque and HP. and cars are like 3-4 seconds faster with low fuel.
Modern F1 cars are faster because they have hybrid technology anf turbo. Those V10 were atmospheric. Basically F1 evolved for improve efficiency but V10 age was better

Races were more interesting. Actual engines are powerful because there a electric motor and turbo in them, and like 10 years in engine development. If teams could use V10 again, those V10 will be more powerful than old ones. There are 2 ways to see the sport: like someone the aproves technology evolution no matter if makes the sport boring or someone that prefers just enjoy the show even if uses less practical resources.
Hybrid technology could be more efficient but is harder to develop and mantain, so much electronic components.
F1 was better when was more simple.
@@estebanthomas4866 races were much more boring actually. Less battles on the track. The only drama was if there was engine failure but races themselves were not that interesting. The thing is, humans tend to remember only the good parts and that's why they think it was more interesting while statistically, it wasn't, there were far less overtakes on the track, less on track action. Most of the times cars were just following each other without being able to overtake anyone. Engines could have been more powerful however, I agree on that part. Woth todays technology, V10 3.0 engines could've been monsters, but it would make cars undrivable. And you can always get the same HP if you put turbo and hybrid units. It would make them heavier though.

The slim profile and dirtier air from the F2004 makes it impossible for the wider SF1000 to get a slipstream when trailling it, despite having more mechanical grip (than grooved slicks) and better aerodynamic package.

F2004: bigger engine(V10 NA 3L) but lighter chassis; higher rpm range but lower hp. But the F2004 has less gears that means less time loss for gear change, lower acceleration and higher top speed.
SF1000: smaller engine(V6 turbo 1.6L) but heavier chassis; lower rpm range but higher hp. But the SF1000 has more gears that means more time loss for gear change, higher acceleration and lower top speed.
Maybe the SF1000 can beat the F2004 only in Montecarlo...or actually not(?)
It's interesting to notice how similar the two cars are to each other. It's just that the f2004 is more... eventful i guess is the word i would use haha

The F2004 is definitely faster in a straight line, compared to the SF1000. However, put them in a track like Monaco or Suzuka maybe, and the SF1000 would dominate.
Don't the 2018 and 2019 cars have all the track records.

The gap could be bigger, when the f2004 would have the pure slick tyres like the SF1000. The f2004 would be 2-3 sec quicker a lap.
Do for the next comparison the 2010 RB6 vs the 2020 RB16.

If that is the RSS Formula Hybrid 2020, i can understand. The AI in that car is pretty slow, maybe also because in the stock setup the ERS management (or something like that) is set to Low Balanced, so really slow lol
I don't think this is realistic, because when you look on Kimi 2018 vs Montoya 2003(I think) comparison Monza pole, then the difference isn't that big on the straights and that was 2018 not 2020
