This song serves as a tribute to Robert Plant’s son Karac who tragically died at the age of only five 😢…he is a feather 🪶 in the wind

@@billg763 they were in New Orleans starting a tour, when word came. The tour was cancelled of course. Robert went home and isolated with his family. John Bonham was by his side. Robert wanted to quit Zep and be a school teacher but Bonzo talked him into coming back. Jimmy Page was in the depths of his heroin addiction and didn't show for Karac's funeral. Neither did JP. Everything was different after that. And then Bonzo died. His best friend. So this is why Robert has a love/hate relationship with LZ. It's just bad vibes for him. 😞

The keyboard solo in the middle of the song is one of my favorite passages in all of music. Brings me to tears every time I hear it. It’s so, so beautiful!

Had tickets for the New Orleans show in 77. As I’m sure others will mention, Robert received the worst news any parent could get. His son contracted a virus that sadly took his life. Needless to say the tour was canceled and a father had to bury a child. This is a beautiful homage to a boy taken much too soon. With the passing of John Bonham a short while later, we were never to see the likes of them again. Fortunately, they left a remarkable body of work, loved by fans to this day.

In July 1977 I had tickets to see Led Zeppelin in concert at Orchard Park Rich stadium Buffalo New York, shortly before the concert the news reported that Robert plants son “Karac” had suddenly died from a stomach virus and they would be canceling the concert, they announced ticket refunds were available at all ticketron locations, the tickets were only $12.50 so I decided to just keep mine for a souvenir, I still have that unused Led Zeppelin ticket today from July 1977, this song was written for Robert Plants son who died.

Chod & Dee, this was John Paul Jones at the height of his creativitity!! He had a brand new state of the art keyboard - that most of the sounds you heard on this song were created. An AMAZING song - credited to Jones with heartfelt lyrics by Robert Plant.

Chod, the string fx were done by John Paul Jones on the Hammond 2-tier 88 organ, which has extraordinary string section sounds ( Hammond still makes 'em today , Yamaha does also, but Hammond's are the best) The solo was done on a 2nd keyboard, probably a Yamaha YPG- 379 synth (mine has one that replicates it perfectly)

Of course everyone loves Led Zeppelin. Funny thing about this song is that most LZ fanatics dislike it. Even musicians who are influenced by and worship LZ hate this song. I think it's the cheesy chorus or perhaps the repetitive "All Of My Love", because the music is excellent. And that JPJ synth solo is fantastic. Very Middle Eastern influenced. This isn't in my top 20 LZ songs....but I do love that solo followed by the acoustic guitar. So, so good.

Wow man you're just getting ready to fire it up but I have to tell you Mel, and absolutely both of you. You know I've watched I don't know how many of your reactions. I don't know watch everyone I definitely don't but yeah I'd say I probably watched 50 of them at least it's funny to get to see you guys change over time and see what we're doing and I remember a while back when you were like man I'm done and then now you're here again which I think a lot of us are grateful for I think that's great man I think that's cool.
I'm just trying to find an appropriate way to express how much admiration I have and not just for both of you dude man I love you as a musician I realize you're a drummer I get that I'm a musician too but Mel, you are just so full of class and elegance and this curious mix of reserve and withholding judgment and then also just being very spontaneous in the moment. It's just this really cool thing man I have to let you all know. That is a for real thing but these reactions. So please neither of you ever underestimate the power of Mel. It's certainly not lost on me anyway so I just had to say it.
    Okay let's roll. 😀

It's not my primary instrument in bands that I played but I started taking piano lessons on a real piano when I was like in kindergarten and so that is my foundational instrument and so when it's not a piano it's just you're playing keyboards. You might be playing a Hammond B3 organ? Like Jon Lord in Deep Purple. Or any number of older gospel stuff or with Boston similar although I'm not sure exactly what that was. The recording stuff was just through the roof. But it's stellar.
