I was a cardiology vet tech for almost 8 years, so I've seen many pets in Navi's place. As far as the surgery, you'd have to consider her health and how she's doing otherwise as well as the stress that might be caused from the trip overseas for the surgery. You're her mama and you know her best, trust your gut!
I have a family member that is a heart surgeon at Stanford and in HK for many years and now retired. I think what I learned from him is that it is best if you can find the best heart surgeon for dogs. The survival is just so much higher. I will also whatsapp him and see if he knows any heart surgeons for doggies. I'm sure you guys will find a good surgeon for Navi. I will check around too but have you guys look into UC Davis? I know they have some of the best specialists in the world for dogs. Sending you, wah and Navi so much love and strength.

Sorry to hear about your puppy! I've had many old dogs go through similar heaps of medical-related issues. My only advice is don't put an old dog through unnecessary suffering and surgeries if it'll be more stress for them than it's worth. They don't understand what's going on, are scared of all the procedures, and it's important to consider their quality of life post surgery. I've seen old dogs get torn up from cancer treatment and they had to sit around all day in pain. It won't be worth it if a dog can't continue being a dog. Sometimes doing what you can to provide comfort and letting them live at home in a pseudo hospice is the best approach. Good luck to your family!

🦋 Weylie, I never leave a comment, but I wanted to tell you that my dog was diagnosed with a heart murmur. She lived 3 years more (meds twice a day, cardiologist visit twice a year) Her name is also Nabi (different spelling but means butterfly in korean). I now have her in my heart forever. ❤️

I used to be a social worker and it was something I would gently remind parents that I worked with… That they are the biggest and best advocate for their child. As I have been semi-retired and my kids are grown, I have fur babies. And I have had to learn that very same thing for them. Bless your sister for being the little bird on your shoulder and giving you the boost your needed to be the advocate you already are. I’m really sorry for the news. I don’t know if this will make you feel better or give you hope but my dog is 13 years old and got diagnosed with heart failure over a year ago. She was also given the prognosis of 6-9 months and she’s still here and doing well. She recently had a blood test and everything looked good too! Have faith. I think doctors have to give that prognosis bc of average life expectancy but Navi could be the exception and not the rule and live quite a long time ❤️
i went through the exact same thing with my fur pup 3 years ago and i know how absolutely heart breaking this is. it was during covid time and i couldn't really talk to as many doctors or get as much information as i could, and that's the thing i regret the most, but you're doing so much for navi and that's the best thing you can be doing as a dog mom. you really never know what's going on with your pup, so give navi all the love and more during this hard time! y'all are the best dog parents navi could have ever asked for and she trusts y'all to make the best decisions for her. wishing you, wah, and most importantly, navi all the best wishes! ❤❤❤❤

As a mommy to a diabetic dog who needs her insulin given twice a day, life can be stressful at times. A small infection can become complicated due to her diagnosis. I was lucky to have had a great veterinarian at the beginning of her diagnosis and we've worked together to find the right dose, diet and treatment plan for her. However, we had to move and we no longer see that veterinarian. I found a local place but I don't believe they can care for her like her old vet. In May, she had an abscess infection and would not eat for almost two weeks. As a diabetic, she needs to eat to get insulin. Within the two weeks, I was in an out of this local spot and she wasn't getting any better. Finally, I went to a different place where they found the abscess immediately and took care of her. They notified me that the surgery might go well or they may have complications or find other complications due to her being diabetic. They gave me to option to go with the surgery or to put her down since she is considered an elderly dog. My heart couldn't handle this decision. Ultimately, I went with my gut and as her mommy knew she wanted to still play, so I chose to do the surgery. It's difficult being a mom to something that can't talk to you and you have to make life/death decisions for them. Just know, you will make the right choices and everything will be as it should be. My little baby also has a heart condition and has been on heart meds for over a year now. I joined a fb group on Congestive Heart Failure In Dogs and it has been very helpful and I learned a lot from fellow dog parents with this problem. Sending love to Navi and your family.
I’m so sorry you’re going through this. A very similar situation happened to my cat (Lowkey) in late October. He suddenly lost all movement in his hind legs and I had to rush him to the emergency vet in LA. It was terrifying, especially because I was on my own. He was completely paralyzed, and after testing, we learned he had HCM (hypertrophic cardiomyopathy) and a blood clot that caused the paralysis. We were told his chances of survival were only 5-30%, and we thought we were going to lose him. But somehow, he pulled through. After two months of intensive rehabbing and a follow-up with his cardiologist, we learned that he has heart disease and now requires daily medication. None of the vets, not even the cardiologist, had ever seen a cat survive this condition long-term. We’re living without a clear timeline, taking things day by day as well - it’s really hard and he still doesn’t have feeling in his left leg😭 My heart goes out to you because I know how overwhelming and heartbreaking this can be. This time of year makes it even harder. Just know that every moment you share with Navi is meaningful to her, and she knows how deeply you love and advocate for her. You’re an amazing dog mom, and she’s so lucky to have you. She truly is a light in your life, and that bond is so special.
I had a dog that went into severe heart failure quick,y and wasn’t expected to live very long and she lived over 2 more years. We did really baby her and avoided extreme heat and cold and limited an excessive exercise. Good luck!

My old dog died of heart failure at 12. Took three months from he was diagnosed until he had to be put down. That final day went zero to hundred in a second and was so traumatic and graphic that if my current dog ever gets diagnosed with the same thing and told there's only a few months left. I'm going to put him down. Because never again. I'd rather put him down two months too early than one minute too late. And the vet who did it wasn't our regular one, the vet we got was horrible and I wasn't allowed to be in the room, it was 3 in the morning, snow storm and I had to drive two hours with almost zero visibility. I almost didn't get another dog because I don't have another round like that in me. But heartbreak is the price we pay for love and in the end it's worth it.

Weylie, your video has me tearing up. Just last week, I lost my foster dog. I was fostering her 4 months. She was treated for heart worms but she rapidly declined & had short breaths. They said her lungs were filled. It was one of the most heartbreaking moments of my life. So I understand the concern & the amount of love you have for your fur babies. Me and my family have lost pets over the years, and it doesn't get any easier when you lose one. Having said that, I love my pets too much to not have them in my life. Girl,you got me crying too, I understand what your going through my 13 year old just got diagnosed with oral melanoma stage 1 cancer. We are currently going over his treatment plans as well. So sorry to hear about Navi. My pup a few years back was diagnosed with CHF. Vet gave her 3 months to live, based on tests and how large her heart had gotten. With her meds plus something I found on Amazon that had really good reviews (Pet Wellbeing Young at Heart for Dogs), she hung on and lived a very happy life for 9 more months. The night before she passed, she seemed normal and happy. We were with her for her last breath and I’m glad that she didn’t seem to suffer through those months with CHF. Miss her extra today 🥹💙
I have permed my colored hair and the first one didn’t do well, but I did it again and the second one was a keratin perm and was specially chosen for my hair texture and type. Find a stylist that will use one of those because it was so conditioning despite being a perm game changer! My hair felt healthier AFTER the perm!

Any kind of healthcare (for humans & pets) is so, so hard. It's already a sensitive time to be in some medical problem, but then having to deal with such umempathetic, unprofessional, people like that vet- what a god awful feeling. You want to trust and believe these people as they are medical professions, but instead, they just gaslight you. Thankful for your sister for her wise words, as she is 100% correct. I work in healthcare and let me tell you, there will always be the "good cops and bad cops" So always trust your gut instincts and follow through them, don't let anyone gaslight you, or pressure you to do anything especially for your babies! There is NOTHING to apologize for girl! So happy that Navi is back home and safe. Cause not me sobbing over seeing the Instagram post about Navi being in bad condition, thank you for the update, I know it can't be easy to say it. Praying and hoping that Navi will speedy recover the best she can, cause she has the best pawents! And honestly, going forward Weylie- POST whatever you want girl!!! I know how hard it is for you and Wah to see our babies suffer. But I just want to thank you for sharing because for so long I felt alone in my experience with my Coco, who happens to look so much like Navi. Weylie I have been following you for more than 10 years and I never comment but I wanted to tell you my heart is with you ❤ I am so sorry. I went literally through the same thing like 6 months ago. Our dog started coughing and we went to the vet and they told us he had heart disease. I was in shock and didn't grasp at the time what that means. Things went south really fast, soon he couldn't breathe well. In our country there aren't a lot of options and we decided not to do any invasive procedures since he was 11 years old with also chronic hip pain and we just thought it would be best to not put him through all that, since it is a huge thing to recover from. They told us he could be started on medicine but that it wouldn't cure him/do much, since like you said heart disease is not something they can just get better from. Well in our case he lasted only a couple more weeks. We did everything to make him as comfortable as he could be but unfortunately we had to let him go. I still didn't fully realize what was happening just until a couple days before he had to be put down. It was the hardest decision of my life. So trust me that I simpathize and I really really hope Navi has a better chance to be with you guys for years to come. You guys are in my thoughts and I am sending all the love ❤
Hi Weylie! I have a pomchi that looks like Navi they could be sisters and she was also diagnosed with CHF back in 2019 and they told me Beast only had 3-6 months to live. It’s now almost 2025 and she’s still going strong! No surgery, just meds. I had Beast on natural remedies for the first few years and she only started meds in 2023 since it gradually got worse but with medication, she’s been better! I honestly adjusted her meds based on what I thought was best since I didn’t want Beast to be reliant on prescription meds, but lmk if you want to chat more and I’d love to share all the things regarding Beast. She was also diagnosed with a heart murmur along with CHF so I’ve been worried and stressed about this since 2019. Definitely know how you feel!
At 7:00...please take all the time you need to take care of Navi. She is your baby and as a dog owner...you're doing your best. Gio had an irregular heartbeat since he was a puppy and passed away last year. We lost him during my sister's wedding week so everything happened so fast. We did our best, and the result from the x-ray came back too late. Not enough time to help him the best we could. But I and my family will miss him always. Our 13 years were amazing, and that's all that matters.

I am sorry to hear about little baby Navi, that must have been very scary. May you all feel better soon. I had a perm while some of my hair still contained old dye. The hairdresser said the dye wouldn’t be a problem because it was two years old. The dye didn’t seem to affect the perm, but my virgin hair at the roots suffered. I’m not exaggerating when I say about 20% of my hair broke off after the perm. I do have very fine Scandinavian hair, which might explain it. Interestingly, the dyed ends didn’t break off, so leftover dye may not be an issue :)

I am dealing with my cat having being diagnosed with kidney failure, the Vet said there is nothing much left to do , he is just going to continue to deteriorate, all we can do is keep him comfortable until it is time to say goodbye.
That is right, you are your pet's best advocate. I actually realized I wish I'd been convicted of this for myself with a doctor who took advantage of the trust I had in as a physician who supposedly should 'do no harm.' If not already, please look into heart healthy supplements for Navi like fish oil etc. Also just wanted to say I really appreciate that you blur out strangers in your vlogs as no one asks to be filmed and uploaded into other people's online videos-- shows how respectful you are.

My boy Muppet got sick last September. We also decided to get him out of the first emergency vet we took him to. They wanted to put him down right there and we wanted a second opinion and I’m so happy we advocated for him. We received excellent care at VCA Speciality Group in Glendale. They referred us to UC Davis Vet School and Mup was eligible for a clinical study there. They were so kind and did everything they could for him. He passed on January 8th peacefully and with dignity in our arms. I miss him so much, but so grateful for the time we had together - even those few months where he moved a bit slower. Please check out UC Davis! They have one of the best vet schools in the world. All my thoughts to you and little Navi ❤

Hey Weylie, I'm sorry to hear you are going through this traumatic event with Navi, but I want to share some hope to this unexpected news. My parents owned a Maltese that unfortunately died half a year ago at age 16.5. Maltese seem to be a breed that commonly face similar symptoms and heart issue failures towards end of life. My parents' dog was unfortunately in a similar situation to Navi back when she was 11 years old and was hospitalized and given a 6-9 month life expectancy remaining. Thankfully we were able to see her live for another 5.5 years due to the medication she was given and had a good quality of life. One key thing is to start the medication immediately, as the earlier treatment will significantly slow down the heart issue. We were luckily able to have her for so long because we went to the vet and were able to properly diagnose the issue at the first sign of heart-related coughing. Wishing you the best and don't give up hope in having many years to come with Navi! P.S. Feel free to PM us if you're interested in the medication we had so perhaps you can check with your vet if it works with Navi.
I would also recommend finding a vet that also specializes in acupuncture and Chinese medicine. My dog has heart disease too and he recovered from his heart pumping too slow from getting acupuncture and Chinese medicine. I hope Navi gets well soon!

WEYLIE- my dog (in my photo) she had CHF as well. She ended up living a few years after her diagnosis and we managed it with the heart medication. I know so well how devasting this news is to hear. One day its like they are completely fine and the next they are diagnosed with CHF. It's such a devasting disease for any dog that comes down with it. I was so thankful my dog still was with us over a year later but it hurts all the same knowing the end is coming. I believe they are waiting for us and watching us and they live on in spirit. Sending you love and hugs and hoping you can work with the vets to find the right medication for navi. Some dogs still live a little longer so don't let those time ranges be the end all be all for you guys. My dog lived much longer than we thought when we first heard about the CHF and i hope the same for you guys

i went through the exact same thing with my fur pup 3 years ago and i know how absolutely heart breaking this is. it was during covid time and i couldn't really talk to as many doctors or get as much information as i could, and that's the thing i regret the most, but you're doing so much for navi and that's the best thing you can be doing as a dog mom. you really never know what's going on with your pup, so give navi all the love and more during this hard time! y'all are the best dog parents navi could have ever asked for and she trusts y'all to make the best decisions for her. wishing you, wah, and most importantly, navi all the best wishes! ❤❤❤❤

As a mommy to a diabetic dog who needs her insulin given twice a day, life can be stressful at times. A small infection can become complicated due to her diagnosis. I was lucky to have had a great veterinarian at the beginning of her diagnosis and we've worked together to find the right dose, diet and treatment plan for her. However, we had to move and we no longer see that veterinarian. I found a local place but I don't believe they can care for her like her old vet. In May, she had an abscess infection and would not eat for almost two weeks. As a diabetic, she needs to eat to get insulin. Within the two weeks, I was in an out of this local spot and she wasn't getting any better. Finally, I went to a different place where they found the abscess immediately and took care of her. They notified me that the surgery might go well or they may have complications or find other complications due to her being diabetic. They gave me to option to go with the surgery or to put her down since she is considered an elderly dog. My heart couldn't handle this decision. Ultimately, I went with my gut and as her mommy knew she wanted to still play, so I chose to do the surgery. It's difficult being a mom to something that can't talk to you and you have to make life/death decisions for them. Just know, you will make the right choices and everything will be as it should be. My little baby also has a heart condition and has been on heart meds for over a year now. I joined a fb group on Congestive Heart Failure In Dogs and it has been very helpful and I learned a lot from fellow dog parents with this problem. Sending love to Navi and your family.
I’m so sorry you’re going through this. A very similar situation happened to my cat (Lowkey) in late October. He suddenly lost all movement in his hind legs and I had to rush him to the emergency vet in LA. It was terrifying, especially because I was on my own. He was completely paralyzed, and after testing, we learned he had HCM (hypertrophic cardiomyopathy) and a blood clot that caused the paralysis.
We were told his chances of survival were only 5-30%, and we thought we were going to lose him. But somehow, he pulled through. After two months of intensive rehabbing and a follow-up with his cardiologist, we learned that he has heart disease and now requires daily medication. None of the vets, not even the cardiologist, had ever seen a cat survive this condition long-term. We’re living without a clear timeline, taking things day by day as well - it’s really hard and he still doesn’t have feeling in his left leg😭
My heart goes out to you because I know how overwhelming and heartbreaking this can be. This time of year makes it even harder. Just know that every moment you share with Navi is meaningful to her, and she knows how deeply you love and advocate for her. You’re an amazing dog mom, and she’s so lucky to have you. She truly is a light in your life, and that bond is so special.
I had a dog that went into severe heart failure quick,y and wasn’t expected to live very long and she lived over 2 more years. We did really baby her and avoided extreme heat and cold and limited an excessive exercise. Good luck!

My old dog died of heart failure at 12. Took three months from he was diagnosed until he had to be put down. That final day went zero to hundred in a second and was so traumatic and graphic that if my current dog ever gets diagnosed with the same thing and told there's only a few months left. I'm going to put him down. Because never again. I'd rather put him down two months too early than one minute too late. And the vet who did it wasn't our regular one, the vet we got was horrible and I wasn't allowed to be in the room, it was 3 in the morning, snow storm and I had to drive two hours with almost zero visibility. I almost didn't get another dog because I don't have another round like that in me. But heartbreak is the price we pay for love and in the end it's worth it.
I’m so sorry for what’s going on. We had a horrible experience with an ER vet, it’s just the worst. No matter what happens, Navi knows how much you love her ❤️

They said her lungs were filled. It was one of the most heartbreaking moments of my life. So I understand the concern & the amount of love you have for your fur babies. Weylie, my heart goes out to you. ❤😊. I have 7 cats and a dog, and they are mostly older pets. It's hard when one of them gets sick and you don't know what is going to happen next. Me and my family have lost pets over the years, and it doesn't get any easier when you lose one. Having said that, I love my pets too much to not have them in my life. Girl,you got me crying too, I understand what your going through my 13 year old just got diagnosed with oral melanoma stage 1 cancer. We are currently going over his treatment plans as well. So sorry to hear about Navi. My pup a few years back was diagnosed with CHF. Vet gave her 3 months to live, based on tests and how large her heart had gotten. With her meds plus something I found on Amazon that had really good reviews (Pet Wellbeing Young at Heart for Dogs), she hung on and lived a very happy life for 9 more months.
The night before she passed, she seemed normal and happy. We were with her for her last breath and I’m glad that she didn’t seem to suffer through those months with CHF.

I have permed my colored hair and the first one didn’t do well, but I did it again and the second one was a keratin perm and was specially chosen for my hair texture and type. Find a stylist that will use one of those because it was so conditioning despite being a perm game changer! My hair felt healthier AFTER the perm!

Any kind of healthcare (for humans & pets) is so, so hard. It's already a sensitive time to be in some medical problem, but then having to deal with such umempathetic, unprofessional, people like that vet- what a god awful feeling. You want to trust and believe these people as they are medical professions, but instead, they just gaslight you. Thankful for your sister for her wise words, as she is 100% correct. I work in healthcare and let me tell you, there will always be the "good cops and bad cops" So always trust your gut instincts and follow through them, don't let anyone gaslight you, or pressure you to do anything especially for your babies! There is NOTHING to apologize for girl! So happy that Navi is back home and safe. Cause not me sobbing over seeing the Instagram post about Navi being in bad condition, thank you for the update, I know it can't be easy to say it. Praying and hoping that Navi will speedy recover the best she can, cause she has the best pawents!

Weylie I have been following you for more than 10 years and I never comment but I wanted to tell you my heart is with you ❤ I am so sorry. I went literally through the same thing like 6 months ago. Our dog started coughing and we went to the vet and they told us he had heart disease. I was in shock and didn't grasp at the time what that means. Things went south really fast, soon he couldn't breathe well. In our country there aren't a lot of options and we decided not to do any invasive procedures since he was 11 years old with also chronic hip pain and we just thought it would be best to not put him through all that, since it is a huge thing to recover from. They told us he could be started on medicine but that it wouldn't cure him/do much, since like you said heart disease is not something they can just get better from. Well in our case he lasted only a couple more weeks. We did everything to make him as comfortable as he could be but unfortunately we had to let him go. I still didn't fully realize what was happening just until a couple days before he had to be put down. It was the hardest decision of my life. So trust me that I simpathize and I really really hope Navi has a better chance to be with you guys for years to come. You guys are in my thoughts and I am sending all the love ❤
Hi Weylie! I have a pomchi that looks like Navi they could be sisters and she was also diagnosed with CHF back in 2019 and they told me Beast only had 3-6 months to live. It’s now almost 2025 and she’s still going strong! No surgery, just meds. I had Beast on natural remedies for the first few years and she only started meds in 2023 since it gradually got worse but with medication, she’s been better! I honestly adjusted her meds based on what I thought was best since I didn’t want Beast to be reliant on prescription meds, but lmk if you want to chat more and I’d love to share all the things regarding Beast. She was also diagnosed with a heart murmur along with CHF so I’ve been worried and stressed about this since 2019. Definitely know how you feel!

At 7:00...please take all the time you need to take care of Navi. She is your baby and as a dog owner...you're doing your best. Gio had an irregular heartbeat since he was a puppy and passed away last year. We lost him during my sister's wedding week so everything happened so fast. We did our best, and the result from the x-ray came back too late. Not enough time to help him the best we could. But I and my family will miss him always. Our 13 years were amazing, and that's all that matters.

I had a perm while some of my hair still contained old dye. The hairdresser said the dye wouldn’t be a problem because it was two years old. The dye didn’t seem to affect the perm, but my virgin hair at the roots suffered. I’m not exaggerating when I say about 20% of my hair broke off after the perm. I do have very fine Scandinavian hair, which might explain it. Interestingly, the dyed ends didn’t break off, so leftover dye may not be an issue :)

I am dealing with my cat having being diagnosed with kidney failure, the Vet said there is nothing much left to do , he is just going to continue to deteriorate, all we can do is keep him comfortable until it is time to say goodbye.
That is right, you are your pet's best advocate. I actually realized I wish I'd been convicted of this for myself with a doctor who took advantage of the trust I had in as a physician who supposedly should 'do no harm.' If not already, please look into heart healthy supplements for Navi like fish oil etc. Also just wanted to say I really appreciate that you blur out strangers in your vlogs as no one asks to be filmed and uploaded into other people's online videos-- shows how respectful you are.

My boy Muppet got sick last September. We also decided to get him out of the first emergency vet we took him to. They wanted to put him down right there and we wanted a second opinion and I’m so happy we advocated for him.
We received excellent care at VCA Speciality Group in Glendale. They referred us to UC Davis Vet School and Mup was eligible for a clinical study there. They were so kind and did everything they could for him. He passed on January 8th peacefully and with dignity in our arms. I miss him so much, but so grateful for the time we had together - even those few months where he moved a bit slower.
Please check out UC Davis! They have one of the best vet schools in the world. All my thoughts to you and little Navi ❤

I'm sorry to hear you are going through this traumatic event with Navi, but I want to share some hope to this unexpected news.
My parents owned a Maltese that unfortunately died half a year ago at age 16.5. Maltese seem to be a breed that commonly face similar symptoms and heart issue failures towards end of life. My parents' dog was unfortunately in a similar situation to Navi back when she was 11 years old and was hospitalized and given a 6-9 month life expectancy remaining. Thankfully we were able to see her live for another 5.5 years due to the medication she was given and had a good quality of life. One key thing is to start the medication immediately, as the earlier treatment will significantly slow down the heart issue. We were luckily able to have her for so long because we went to the vet and were able to properly diagnose the issue at the first sign of heart-related coughing.
Wishing you the best and don't give up hope in having many years to come with Navi!
P.S. Feel free to PM us if you're interested in the medication we had so perhaps you can check with your vet if it works with Navi.
I would also recommend finding a vet that also specializes in acupuncture and Chinese medicine. My dog has heart disease too and he recovered from his heart pumping too slow from getting acupuncture and Chinese medicine. I hope Navi gets well soon!

WEYLIE- my dog (in my photo) she had CHF as well. She ended up living a few years after her diagnosis and we managed it with the heart medication. I know so well how devasting this news is to hear. One day its like they are completely fine and the next they are diagnosed with CHF. It's such a devasting disease for any dog that comes down with it. I was so thankful my dog still was with us over a year later but it hurts all the same knowing the end is coming. I believe they are waiting for us and watching us and they live on in spirit. Sending you love and hugs and hoping you can work with the vets to find the right medication for navi. Some dogs still live a little longer so don't let those time ranges be the end all be all for you guys. My dog lived much longer than we thought when we first heard about the CHF and i hope the same for you guys
