The thing you're putting the heatsink on is a mosfet. They definitely need compound and aluminium on them but make sure you get the heatsink in contact with the surface, scrape any epoxy off down to clean surface
Not sure your take on my video ?? To simply take one of these common generator AVR's and wire it in would be a mystery .. Now if you wanted to connect a running AVR generator to a inverter that would work .. It does give a cleaner waveform , Not by a ton but it will clean it up ! I run Electronics on AVR generators with no problems .. To each their own on the subject .. Thanks for asking !! 👍👍
Anyone have much experience for a cheap vs expensive avr? Found one for 20 bucks and comes worh brushes. Vs just an avr for 82 bucks. Is this a case of get what you pay for or no?
That’s a great idea and I will start getting parts to do it now
Thank You for information and advice to improve equipment life
It works , thanks for watching .. I have other generator vids as well ..

yup, that is what I did .. thanks
Nice job Shawn, that will make a big difference on the life of that regulator
Sounds like a good idea...i wonder how and what to use to get that glue out of AVR and replace the capacitor...
That's a cool idea.
very nice idea.
Thanks Josh !
Thanks for the video Shawn.
That's a good idea.
Nice fix Shawn
Thanks
Do you know how to test the AVR? How much power is supposed to come out or into the AVR?
Is it possible to connect a generator avr to a modified sine wave inverter?

What is the purpose of doing that?
They don't mess around potting that stuff do they,,,,,, crazy
Heat kills loads of electronics Shawn.....that and rain on cars causing bad contacts.
