What’s your view on the gnostic teaching of remaining in chastity and never releasing the semen? Whether single or in marriage

Good question! I'm sure on a spiritual and energetic level this the practice of not releasing semen unless one wishes to create a child is beneficial. Many Daoist teachers also hold this opinion. When we study ideas around kundalini awakening, Soma, or amrita we often can find various connections to these transformational pressures and etheric compounds with the practice of semen retention. Personally, if I could I would never ejaculate again; however I find it to be very challenging because I am married and very sexually active... so my compromise is to not get to attached to the physical fluid which is often released even without ejaculation and instead I focus on connecting to the energy as it begins to surge during orgasm. There is a book called 'Quodoushka', which describes Native American 'Tantra', and in this book they focus not so much on permanent semen retention but rather on cultivating a more profound orgasm which can lead to catharsis and the redirection of this transformational energy; sadly this book is more philosophical and they dangle these techniques as part of the hook to get you to attend their workshops... that being said its still a very interesting read.
