Its not hard its just complicated. You only need 8 external programs. 20 diffrent websites to check. Infinite number of guides to read just understand the basic. Also 10k hours of reading what gem and skill works together also all the mechanics change every 3 months. See piece of cake
This is how I feel and most of the PoE playerbase just says its not hard to get into and severly downplay all the things you would need to read. Also the limited respec makes a few mistakes while leveling a major problem.
if a game relies on other people who arent working for the company to dish out guides on your game JUST to understand the basics, thats when you know your game is not beginner or even intermediate friendly at all, ive playe arpgs all my life and i cant even finish the game .
The main problem of this game, as a very new player who started this league, is the lack of in game information about anything. I played rpgs so I was familiar with the concept of minmaxing, and was lucky enough to have the time and disposition to go read a bunch even tough I didn't follow a guide, so I stuck with the game and I'm having fun playing and researching mechanics; still such an effort would easily discourage new players. The help button is too small for one, barely noticeable. And the contents laughable, that's nowhere near enough information to even start thinking about retaining new players. More accessible information would greatly benefit the community

there are just too many different ways to get the mods you need on any gear. I have given up trying to remember the countless ways there are and how to find out where you get 1 mod from another
Only 3 weeks in and i LOVED this game through the campaign. I loved it so much i spent over $300 in the store in only 3 weeks because i wanted to support the devs. Now suddenly ive grown to hate this game with a passion. I dont even wanna think about it. Its so complicated. I know what i need to do. Get health. Up my damage. Max out your resistances. Well ive done all that and still cant do a tier3 rare map. 4k health and 17k armor. Oh yea my chaos resistance is 32% which i think is pretty good. Idk wtf im doing wrong. Its frustrating
The first example that pops into my brain is how the word nearby has different ranges depending on item, skill etc. I'd be willing to bet on it, the devs/team of PoE are unsure or can't even remember all the mechenics and interactions. Now take all of that - of what say 10 years game has been out and dump all of it on a brand new player on top of it being presented in a way to is pretty awful format and communication. The community DOES A LOT OF HEAVY LIFTING for this game in that area. I mean a shit ton! Path of building, craft of exile, trading tools, build guides, feedback, testing, etc etc Its actually fucking crazy when you think about it.
POE is too extreme difficult for some pre-players ☆high immunity to shock but (die)! cause enemy damage exceed the physical resist or life ☆going circle in maze & getting trapped in ambush pack ☆enemy damage exceed your physical armor & ele resistance ☆My built is chasing for infinite life regen or energyshield regen but still (die)! Cause failed to obtain the super gear in time before difficulty raised ☆ETC....the rest a are.....
Well here's the thing. Most people aren't playing Path to Exile... usually people gravitate to what it entertaining/fun/good. Try Magic the Gathering or even Pokemon in all it's myriad venues... Chess? Chess is pretty fun.
Im a new player and the skill tree is not bad. but it feels like i have to watch 50 videos and memorize what affects this and that in items and so on just to get a build working. It seems to me its just unessecarily hard to se what affects what in this came. Nothing in this game seems to be self explanatory. It feels like im doing schoolwork to learn all this.
Is POE too Difficult For New Players? As a new player yes absolutely. I highly enjoyed my act 1 to 10 play very much. So much so that I bought a bunch of stash tabs. Then to find out that the way I progress in this is not really by monster drops anymore after hitting maps. What do I mean by that? While yes monsters and doing maps with drop you items to progress your character its not intuitive or fun after hitting maps. Why? Because now I no longer get my best drops my random drops that are gloves,boots,body armor ect ect. While yes they drop decent base gear and upgrade materials. Its no longer "ooooh snap this is a great piece of gear". Now its "emmmm yeah this has decent base stats now let me go through 100+ upgrade materials and sit in the crafting bench to make this piece of gear viable". In the end game of this ARPG I just dont feel any satisfaction from drops at all. I love looters like Borderlands,Diablo 2,Destiny 2(until it turned to trash) because I got good drops and thats it! I didnt have to go through 50 spreadsheets and videos on how to make my gear good. I just got an OP weapon or gear and I go about my day and have fun. This game is making me work too hard and go through too many hoops to get to the fun. I honestly just run lower tier maps cuz I really get tired of getting wiped cuz my gear sucks. This game isnt hard mechanically its hard because your gear sucks and thats just not fun.
Lol i just saw the part for the skill tree ' reminded me when i dowloaded poe for me and my son and when he was at the part of the skill tree he had zoomed out and i spent like 25 minutes trying to find a capable alotted slot
Honestly I feel like the minimal respec ability keeps me away. I know you can get respec points but I wish I could just respect whenever. Too many good games to play out there to worry about time getting wasted over messing up my skill tree too much. I don't have time for that.
so this is literally my first day of poe and im kinda relieved bc the game felt a little too easy especially after watching videos on it constantly hyping it up. i get that its a massive game and im probably alr making tons of mistakes but with only 2 deaths (both from tuning the secondary item trait forges all the way to extreme difficulty) and most of the time not even attacking the mobs myself (necromancer) i was genuinely considering restarting as a different class to give myself a harder time as i heard its one of the ones suggested for beginners. but this gave me confidence to wait n see ty :)
GGG : Let's make an insanely complex game and provide absolutely no information what so ever about any of it, also let's make sure our tooltips and character stats page are completely broken and say nothing relevant or true. If you ever manage to figure out a build after a few seasons of hitting a brick wall, they'll brick it with nerfs and changes. Honestly this game has gotten to a point where it's just moronic, it'd literally take a chatGPT kind of AI assistant to tel players what they should pick up and why, show them various possibilities to craft it with the odds and costs. Would also need the same kind of assistance whenever you find an item with a mod that works well when synergized with other mods, buffs and conditions. Without that, idk how long that game will last. We're getting at a point where even veteran players have no fucking clue what they're doing and are just following build guides made by a handful of PhD's in Nolifery.
For people saying this game is not hard then your a liar and a fool. Im a gamer, just an average gamer and I heard about poe and had just installed it, played it until about act 4...here I started to notice it getting ridiculous. I keep on dying to a boss and reviving and once I re enter the dungeon almost immediately I die. Basically I did just that until finally beating the boss. I was waiting for the time where this game was gonna start to become fun for me to play and it just never came... Still I tried to give it a shot, died hundreds of times to Act 6 and the ridiculousness just keeps piling on...I kept asking myself where was the fun part for me to enjoy the game? It's more of a torture myself to win kind of gameplay. Finally I ended up quitting and accepted that this is not for me..(by the way i played and finished all dark souls games including blood bourne, that game is more of a skill check game and poe is NOT that) I'm sorry if you hardcore veteran players of Poe don't agree with my assessment of this game but it's the honest to goodness truth..

Played it, felt clunky and rough, died a bunch, couldn't reset my skills, uninstalled and went to play Diablo 4.

Yes, they've flooded the game with mechanics from all the different leagues. It's incredibly overwhelming and frustrating.
3:50 as a new player, solo self found is not available. One has to unlock it by unlocking the Scion first.

i died so many times in the beginning of the game and uninstalled. can you run in the game ? i was playing the Shadow class and just getting bodied
