It is fascinating to live in a unique period of human history where we are the first generation able to see images of the surface of another planet. How lucky we should feel also to live on Earth, after seeing the totally barren surface of Mars.
It is pretty amazing to see what Mars looks like! What fantastic videos of another planet that is billions of years old. It is beautiful in its own way. Another great accomplishment from America.
Absolutely stunning! ❤ Only comment I have is that it would be great if they could give us a sense of scale for some of these rocks or hills. I've noticed from other Mars images and videos that it can be very misleading sometimes and I'd like to know if only just to get an even better sense of immersion.
Looking at these images and panoramas, it tells me that Mars has gone through very similar evolution to what Earth has seen. Those rock formations look very much like sandstone and shale stratigraphy on Earth. I love to see these images and it tells me that we are looking at a planet that is very much part of our solar system and a place we could go to and be able to sustain a station for further exploration.
Super incredible pictures of rocks! Rocks, rocks, and more rocks. Never be anything but rocks. Terraforming is a fantasy. Mars can't hold an atmosphere without a magnetosphere. Radiation from the sun will strip away any trace of atmosphere.
Without curiosity there would be no science. Rocks on Mars, like the Moon, are not the same as on Earth and may reveal processes we didn't know about as well as helping us to understand the formation of our planet.
😮 ..quite obviously, there has evidently been a massive dramatic volume of water here that has been present in the past shown by the surface ripples and the erosion around those ‘hills’ 👀 Certainly the most beautiful and dramatic scene that I have ever seen so far on this incredible planet of Mars ✨ ‘Thank you’ so much for all your involvement in achieving these remarkable pictures, and for posting for all of us to see 🙏 A ‘true wonder’ of a world 😍
A FPPOV image of the surface of another world millions of miles away is probably one of the closest things to an actual miracle that I will ever witness.
As of 2 September 2024, Perseverance has been active for 1258 sols (1,292 Earth days, or 3 years, 6 months, and 15 days ) since landing on Mars. Transmission: The transmission rate is 8 1/3 bits per second. It can take anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours for a high-resolution, color image to arrive from Mars to Earth. The time it takes depends on the relative positions of Earth and Mars. Thanks and stay tuned for more 👍❤️
I was thinking that. Then my mind sort of thought, there is nothing beyond that hill, just the same terrain. How soon before adventure gave way to depression?
I think it's fascinating. It might seem barren but trust me there's a lot of things to explore and a lot of resources you just can't see. Basically it's a survival challenge...

Unfortunatley no. NASA did a paper in the '70's about terraforming Mars. Even if you melted all the CO2 ice at the poles, it would only warm the planet by a few degrees Kelvin. So much for CO2 being an agent of global warming.
Je pense que notre planète ressemblera a ça dans un avenir relativement proche ,il n’y a regarder les paysages du Sahara et d’autres déserts on y est déjà.
Beautiful stunning details! Just think, most of the Martian surface has been patiently waiting there for millions of years undisturbed. The camera operation must be challenging awkward with the 3 minute delay.
The radio transmission delay between Earth and Mars is not constant and varies due to changing distance due to their orbits. It varies between 4 to 24 minutes each way! Operators on earth therefore don’t dynamically control the rovers. Programmed points to visit and visual scans etc are sent but the rovers are autonomous to a large extent.
I am still blown away by the fact that due to modern technology, i can sit in my armchair in England and watch film from Mars on my tablet. Just wondering what the reaction would be if "Something", was seen to move across the scene? Would we all see it, or would it be edited out?
Beautiful photos! I would like to know the geology of the terrain. What is the history of the multiple strata of the hills, etc. it’s why we need mankind to travel there ! Elon, keep working on it and I wish I could join this adventure.
