This song is legendary because it carries that same "Uncle Sam" or "Yankee Doodle" energy. You just know "Diggy Hole" was a taunt made by the knife-ears to make the dwarves sound like childish little mole men, and the Dwarves took it and ran with it.

What you mean it was made in old norse times to taunt Svartalfars (black elves) who were also known as dvergr (dwarf). It was made by light elves.
Actually Sons of Ivaldi aka guys who made Thors hammer were said to be svartalfars and world of dvergr was Svartálfaheimr aka world of black elves
The problem with the Leaf-Lovers creating the song was that they didn't know it slapped too hard.

It's cool to see that THIS song, Diggy Diggy Hole, has become the rallying cry for everyone in the Dwarf community. Be it Warhammer, WoW, LOTR, Deep Rock, or any other IP, we all come together under the banner of the sturdy mountain men.

I have this headcanon that in some fantasy universe out there, an Elf once told a Dwarf to piss off, saying something like “Go dig a hole, Shorty.” The Dwarf, offended, pretended to use a shovel as he replied in a sarcastic voice “Oh, sure…I’m a Dwarf and I’m deeging a hole. Deegy-deegy hole, I’m deeging a hole. Phooey!”
The Dwarf went home, and he relayed the story to his kin. Eventually a mob of Dwarves chased the troublemaking knife-ear out of town, all while jokingly chanting about how they are Dwarves, and they’re digging a hole. From then onwards, the joke based on a Dwarven stereotype develops into a full-blown song; each generation in the clan adding their own proud lyrics to it and belting it out in times of triumph and hardship alike. Centuries pass, and it becomes a sort of anthem for all Dwarfkind across the land, equally at home as a lullaby to newborn beardlings, as a war cry for hammerers on the battlefield, or as a hummed tune among the few living ancestors who dwell in the Great Halls.

Hello, MrViking, this idea inspired something great in me. So in my DnD campaign, the leader of the Voldrun (The name of the Dwarven Society in my setting) was told by an Elven Overseer in a mining colony to "stop causing trouble, go be a good little Dwarf and Diggy Dig your hole", this was the spark of the revolution that would eventually free the Dwarves from Elven oppression, and as a commemorative tribute, turned this song into their anthem. Anyways, thanks for the idea..

From the earliest days of TH-cam, it started as two friends on a grand quest, trying to come up with a song to sing whilst digging. I was just a kid back then, only 10 years old. Now, 12 years later I am about to leave home and start the next chapter in my life, and I get to appreciate the fact that we have some of TH-cam's biggest bands and artists joining Ye Olde Goon Squad in singing one of the most powerful songs about digging one could ever imagine.

I like how he kept the superior instrumentals of Wind Rose for most of the video while keeping the superior vocals of the Yogscast version.

I remember watching the original Yogscast episode of their old Shadow of Israphel Minecraft series. Where Simon just started singing randomly as he was digging, just to get in character and goof off. To think it started off as a random off-the-cuff moment, and it has now become a beloved part of internet culture.
This felt like the dwarven clans meeting to vote for the new high king and in the end everyone is feasting after the coronation.

This was so good. It just blows me away that the Yogs were able to take a really funny early 2010s minecraft RP meme and make it something grand. And then to have everyone start to make badass covers of it beyond that is just- it's great! And then this on top of all of that!? Man, today was a good day to find this video.
And thus, everyone above heard the shaking of stone and rock as the entire underground started singing in unison, showing them that they may be small, but they together pack a punch and a pick that can move tectonic plates! This was absolutely great, ALE AND MEAD FOR EVERYONE!
I'm disappointed by the lack of the elf filling in the hole at the end but even so, I love this. Any day is a good day when a new version of Diggy Diggy Hole comes out.

I just love that the image of a dwarf is that consistant throughout all of fantasy media. most of the other fantasy races get morphed and merged with creative ideas and concepts. But the "dwarf"-concept is as solid as the rock it digs into.
They are known as the "sturdy folk" for a reason, after all!

I love how a silly joke made off hand during a minecraft playthrough has evolved to be this rallying cry to ALL people who play games where you can be a dwarf. ROCK AND STONE!
I remember hearing the OG when I was in my 2 years of High School back in 2011 and seeing it hasn't changed that much mind-blowing, and still new people are finding it to this day, or old fans rediscovering it. 😳
