I was the girl who asked about the girlfriends question. I was 14 years old, akward as hell and in love with Jonny Greenwood. Give a girl a break. I must admit, however, that it was pretty damn funny/embarassing looking back. This was the best time of my teenage life - when they came out with The Bends and were touring like mad - Radiohead now being one of the biggest and greatest bands of all time. Truly, I don't regret a thing.
I thought it was quite sweet. And you got some laughs out of your question at least. The girl to your right found it very amusing! I’m also nostalgic about seeing them during the Bends era because of the impact that album had on me at a similar age to you.
(hi i'm 6 years late, how are you? i hope you're still on youtube to read this.) the thing is these people ask cliché celebrity questions to a band that doesn't care one bit about that stuff, so they won't give exciting answers.
So says Wikipedia - met Shin Karan in 1993. What do you reckon this interview caused a ‘discussion’ that ended in matrimony? It must have been difficult maintaining a long distance relationship and keeping it private.
@@inrainbowz Not sure what that even means in this context. Forced how? They are still together and have three kids, he tours freely. Sounds like a better marriage than many. I mean they may be heaving crockery at each other in private-one never knows.
@@kaorimg1230 Well, I guess we’ll never know, although what I read probably wasn’t true. Anyway it is clear that they have a very well-kept marriage and that they have formed a beautiful family
"i just wanted to know if you guys had girlfriends and how old you guys are" ................ how about... "um, hi, i was wondering... WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO RECORD BIG BOOTS"
Apart from the do you have girlfriends question...I see Thom squirm and react more to the lady running the interview. Much Music, kind of Canada's MTV? Right? Is she freaking kidding? The Queen? She's never heard of Queen? Dumbass! Also, How offensive what the British press said about them! The are not ugly ducklings! Look at how many fans are in love with each one of them. Plus we are always saying how this one is cute or that one is sexy! That's why you never pay attention 2 the press/review!
Your comment is 10 years old but holy shit is it dumb -- nothing like people getting their panties in a twist over their own ineptitude. "the interviewer" misheard 'the queen'- OF COURSE she fucking knew who Queen were, she hosted a variety of rock shows on Much at the time -- she wasn't preoccupied about what clothes they wore or their celebrity crushes - hell, she might have even been a bit nervous because even though they weren't huge yet she might've known they were special, and I dunno about you but hosting a round table with an entire band on the fly -- on national television isn't easy -- I thought she did great. The only thing shitty was the awkward setting of having 50 kids gathered around the band, but that was just stupid music television at the time -- back when there was music television.
Agree it’s pretty tacky to read negative reviews aloud to new artists-only funny for established acts. Hope she cringed remembering this interview. The guys were charming despite her nonsense.
the fact is she's so nice. they're just a bunch of semi plagiaristic downers who always brought everyone around them down with them. they were always too afraid to be themselves. Radiohead summed up. Thom Yorke in particular can be blamed for the decline of music for the past 20 years.
Andddddd Of course Here we go Another antagonistic reporter who only reads negative things about Radiohead as opposed to actually listening to their music. How great. Just what I needed.

I love Jonny's swinging feet. He's so sweet!
6:53 "People always want to know about your personal life"

YOU ARE ALL I JEED
aw colin covering his face at 6:56 is so cute
4:10 - I think it was Phil's little, pleasant, English way of hitting on her.
I have a baby brother, how cute and funny is that? :D
I always think this is such an awkward interview but its so funny !!!
I thought the same - super awkward
Too old and yes, thanks
"yeah we´d probably beat them" hahahaha
She got her first guitar stolen at gun-point in Manchester.
Why are all Radiohead interviews so ackward o would have thousand of intelligent question to ask them :(
(hi i'm 6 years late, how are you? i hope you're still on youtube to read this.)
the thing is these people ask cliché celebrity questions to a band that doesn't care one bit about that stuff, so they won't give exciting answers.
I knew it back then. :)
But jonny got married in 1995!
I have read that in many places!
So says Wikipedia - met Shin Karan in 1993. What do you reckon this interview caused a ‘discussion’ that ended in matrimony? It must have been difficult maintaining a long distance relationship and keeping it private.
@@kaorimg1230 I read some time ago that he was forced to marry her.

Fortunatley Radiohead, pretty much kicked off the whole Oxford scene. Now there is one.
Omg the interviewer is so rude
phil

Nov 95 they played Manchester we kissed thom and I hav him love beads
RADIOHEAD RULES
yeesh that was uncomfortable
Only 14 fans, hahahaha. :D
That was hard to watch.
Did anyone laugh when Thom said Silly Goaties?
So I guess jonny is the drunk one in the band...
SAME HERE BUD. Sometimes I'm like damn he's hot and then I'm like ew. But it doesn't matter, we're being shallow.
Is it me or is this interview slightly awkward ?
Whats the death metal band they are talking about?
Swervedriver!
That interviewer was not comfortable at all! Haha must be just used to the outgoing loud arrogant American musicians
Wow ask a good question like : What artists inspired you to make music?
what did jonny speakabout pj harvey? 5:30?
The entire band just hates everyone. I love it.
you are better. that's ok.
The girlfriend question always makes me cringe a little...
johnny looks like goeff rowley
What's up with Thom?
Wow they are not exactly british versions of Adonis are they?
they're always treated nicely by Canada, you'd think they would perform more gigs here :(
Is it just me or does Phil look like Ian MacKaye?
yeah, that was hilarious.
"i just wanted to know if you guys had girlfriends and how old you guys are"
................
how about...
"um, hi, i was wondering... WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO RECORD BIG BOOTS"
Gave
Manchester is a dodgy place and we speak funny
