This is possibly the best dredging video I've ever seen. Love the whole story and it's what dreams are made of when you put your dreams into action. Cheers👍😉💚💛❤ Do you have a follow-up video from this one?
I own these claims just above the rapids and the area known as the lake . I heard they had mined one of the claims with a hoverdredge . It's neat to see video of this . Thanks reed for uploading it .
Thanks Jack, I've had the video since it came out, and it's long overdue to be put out for everyone. I've probably seen it a hundred times and it never gets old :)
@@ReedLukens I picked these claims up about 4 miles total about 2 years ago . My brother and I made a plan to retire early and lord willing be blessed to work this area and fulfill a long overdue dream .
@@jackjohnson3970 I'm looking for an area to work this summer, just small stuff as I no longer have a dredge, it would be great to have access to those claims.
Hi Reed, This video was awesome! Such creativity. My brother and I tried to dredge the 40 mile this year 2021 but the water was too low for the hover crafts. Several of them were crashing. My brother, my son, and I will all go up next year and dredge the 40 mile river. Should be more water then. Hope we get as much gold as they did.
@@ReedLukensWe made up to the 40 Mile river and dredged for a week. Using a 6” dredge got about 1 oz of gold. Turns out we were running someone else’s tailings. This year 2024 we will go up in June. We will be using a Keene Super 6 that is very good at capturing fine gold. We should do much better this year.
You are the envy of a lot of men. I applaud you for living your life to the fullest. I need help and don’t know anyone else to ask. If I have my 2 chain coocoo clock mechanism completely out, should I b able to turn either sprocket by hand?
What an INCREDIBLE video, Reed! Thank you SO MUCH for sharing. These guys had the kahunas to see their dream come to reality. What a FINE dredge build!
@Reed Lukens I've watched a few of your videos. I recall seeing a comment from you on a [I think a] prospecting forum talking about dredges in The Sierras how they never got to the bottom of something called....was it Murderer's Bar on The American River? Do you have/thought of doing additional videos to share more of this knowledge maybe there are other sources you can recommend?
I pretty much shared everything that I knew in my Hydraulic Mining and dredge building series, but that was 14 years ago now :) I do have more videos planned.
Hey Reed, thanks for this video! I love the creative builds! Last summer I used a seadoo with an ultra light highbanker to find gold. This year will be upgrading to a jon boat. It's an ever evolving process and I love seeing what you've been up to!
Very cool video! Good ole boys, American ingenuity, hard work = good times, and great gold! Would love to work that river with an 8 inch! Some day! Thanks Reed! Joe gold
Hi Reed! I was almost all the way thru this video before I saw your name. What an adventure, thanks for sharing this. Were you ever on bedrock? Very cool :)
There was other copywrited music on it like north to Alaska, etc... that I had to remove for TH-cam, so I added the usual to keep it from being long portions of blacked out silence. After the second try, I listened to it with no sound and it was worse... to me anyway :)
Great video thank-you
Reed so glad your still around
Great video, love the soundtrack, just retired from the Army and looking to start dredging with my teenagers.
Great dredging video. So natural, so cool!!! 💧♥
Whatta trip! That 10 inch was massive!
Amazing.
Hi reed, That was a hell of a 2 year project you took on. I am not sure how recent that trip was or if your going back. Good stuff
Hi Reed, I watched the video 2 more times and 2003 is the year but did you ever go back? You should do Nome. Its a blast too.
Awesome video well done
boy do i know that area i was there in 75 with my parents had fun and good colors
👏👏👏🤩
its been 19 yrs since this video ,,,,,,, what ever happened to the dredge ,,,,
The dredge was sold a few years later and continued to be used in the same area.

No follow-up ever made it as far as I know 😀

Low water makes life tough way out in the bush, but those hovercraft are sweet 😋

I wonder how a hover dredge would work in Nome? Might have to be a bit more sea worthy?
id like to show you some spots i know up around chicken and eagle ak . good vids thanks grorge from ak
What become of the dredge or is it still there working
It was still working and it has changed hands over the years.
so awesome must be rich by now
Gold fever, like alot of other madmen there you go looking for gold

Great video Reed, very interesting, nice footage and well narrated. Keep up the good work. 🇺🇸⛏
Thanks Reed. That's some cool home made equipment.
I don't understand why you don't move all the big rocks out of the way, before dredging to prevent the hose clogging up?

tALK ABOUT ONE HELL OF AN INTERESTING VIDEO.loved every minute was sad when it ended.Great narration great video and of coarse GREAT GOLD.David out

Can you use a digger in rivers to speed things up and get more material through the sluices?
@@ciaranbyrne62 I don't think that's allowed in CA.

So what was the take for the whole trip?.
Hi Reed! I was almost all the way thru this video before I saw your name. What an adventure, thanks for sharing this. Were you ever on bedrock?
Very cool :)
what's the advantage? why a hovercraft and not just a normal boat ?
Because it's a complete 10" dredge and toy hauler all in one. It floats in just a few inches of water and has everything needed on board.
@@ReedLukens ok, thanks for clarifying
You miners did an outstanding job making the hover craft and finding all that GOLD. Great job.
So amazing... One of the best representations of the dream, I have seen on TH-cam... So inspiring... Ty... Keep up the hard work...
Amazing adventure and nice gold
What an awesome adventure 👌
Very interesting but next one you do please no music,,, other wise it was like an old Wally Taber movie :)
I always loved the old Wally Taber series as a kid, great memories! I hadn't thought about him in decades :)

Abby Bigfoot sightings?
Good to see I was up there in 2009 and meet the brother s
Fantastic video well done guys n gal👍🙂 Oh no it was made in 2003 that's 18 years ago. They're probably all dead RIP old people.
