  • Canoeing the Knockandoo Rapids on the River Spey
A short video showing the Knockando stretch of the River Spey, part of our Best of Scotland canoe expedition based in the Scottish Highlands. This stretch of river is a fantastic white water training ground and used by the Scottish Canoe Association for training. There are some great eddies after the first rapid with a small beach on the RHS. You cant land on the LHS as this is private. From there you head down to the next section with a short rapid with a break out on the RHS before running down the main bouncy wave section. There is a small tributary joining from the right hand side half way down so staying on the RHS of the main flow is often easier. From there you run down the main flow with a couple of potential holes with rocks (you can paddle through them!!). Onwards to a break out on the left and right side. It is then an easier paddle down to the get out near the Carron Bridge.
Be mindful of locals and fishermen etc if you are leaving the river here. You cant park along the Main Street near Carron Bridge- check access agreements.
Canoe Trail started as a hire company providing high quality coaching, canoe and kayak hire, SUP Hire. As we grew we added bushcraft activities, ran large scale national events with watersports and adventurous activities and also began to offer bigger trips and expeditions. In summary we began to offer our clients big expeditions and adventures with our Best of Scotland Canoe Expeditions, the Yukon Canoe Expedition, The Ontario Paddling Retreat and sea kayaking trips. We also helped many other charity challenges and adventures to achieve their journeys and targets. We provided safety cover, training and coaching to develop their skills.
Music from Captain Fantastic Original Sound track:)
