  • If you want to know more about ADHD please check out my online course here: www.udemy.com/course/autism-v...
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Autism often go together and can easily be confused for one another. It can be hard being a parent to know which is causing the most difficulty and what you need to use strategies for. So what is the difference between them?
In this short course, we'll cover many similarities between the two. We'll also look at many simple strategies you can start straight away that should help.
    - I'll share with you a brief overview about:
    - The myths and facts of both
    - How the brain processes information differently
    - Strategies to help someone learn and navigate the world
    - Associated conditions
    - The senses role in behaviour
Let's face it, they can both seem complicated; it can be confusing to pry them apart. So if you're struggling to figure it out and need a simple overview, then this is the perfect introduction course for you.
    I have a new course: www.udemy.com/course/autism-v...

This is exactly how I feel since being Concerta. I've become so boring and anti social, but a lot more organized. The beaks off it are great, but it is difficult to decide which state is better. I've definitely lost my creativity and sociability, but at the same time I look at some of the crazy things I did in the past and it makes me cringe.

i personally feel like my emotions are always so much that it isn’t really enjoyable for me? like at the moment im 24/7 stressed because i need to study for my finals and i’m procrastinating a lot. but my mood also goes up and down and sometimes i suddenly am super super excited for a few minutes but at the same time i’m still stressed and then i get anxious and often i’m just really overwhelmed by a nostalgic feeling and idk i feel like my emotions rather stop me from being present. i also daydream about the future or the past a lot so that also stops me from being present. i hope that medication could help with that. i’m not diagnosed yet but i’m on my way of being diagnosed, hopefully my life will get easier soon because of it.

and i also feel like i can’t really keep my friendships because my heads always filled with other stuff and i don’t reply and stuff and that i’d maybe become more social on meds too? idk

    • @LorenSnow

Medication can help you focus but it’s also possible some adhd meds may make you more spacey and daydreamy. Sometimes it’s because the dose is too high or too low, or because you haven’t eaten, drank, or slept right. I have days where do a lot of work and others where I stare into space a lot. Medication means I have more productive days.

@@LorenSnow I couldn't agree more with this man. There is definitely a plus and in the beginning you feel more alive, but I think as long as you take breaks from it you can at least get a balance between your old self and your new self. People say I've become a lot more serious and organized, but days I don't work I take off it. My imagination isn't as good as it was. The things that interested me don't so much, but the boring things that I should have done in th last seem a lot more fun.
It's a strange one, but my recommendation is to use it and have breaks and days off if you're not at work or need to do too much. After a month or two your old self does begin to return.

But of it numbs emotions and inhibits our social connection and skills, this could lead to some long term negatives.
You could dna test her to check if she has MTHFR gene mutation-a large percentage of population do.
These people cannot process folate and cannot adequately make dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin. Which could be root cause of a lot of issues including focus.
Also, there is a book called dopamine detox and another called dopamine nation. Children today have SO MUCH distractions and are over stimulated by video games, youtube, tiktok, etc. And they aren't exercising the figurative "muscle" of focusing.
      Good luck!

HEY! If you haven't gone the extra mile to make sure your daughter really has ADHD, you shouldn't jump for the pills immediately. Even if she does, there are still multiple other ways to keep it under control like: high intensity exercises early in the day, certain mushrooms that Enhance cognitive ability, Meditation which has been shown to be able to physically alter the brain, And probably some other things I'm forgetting now. You could try to Utilize all the possible solutions simultaneously for maximum positive effect Which could be as effective as Prescribed drugs/medication- Without any of the downsides, symptoms and risks that come with psychotropic substances like: Loss of personality, Anxiety, psychosis etc. Situations like yours, where a Person's life trajectory can be seriously altered, are not the place that you skimp on by not doing the proper research and or not getting all the professional advice you can, but you already know that.

how does it affect the nervous system long term?

    • @TheDavveponken
      @TheDavveponken 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

It puts you in a peperpetual fight or flight mode and its vasoconstrictory properties puts you at risk of cardio and vascular illnesses which will affect the nervous system negatively (as it won't get the blood supply needed), causing numbness physically and emotionally. You may also end up with cognitive difficulties as it affects the brain in the same way (look up reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome and ssri). Ritalin is not unlike ssri's in its functioning and thusly is linked to an increase in cardiovascular events and premature death. Adhd medication has also been linked to a substantial increase of the risk for developing Parkinson's. And lastly it also creates sexual dysfunction: difficulty getting and maintaining an erection and premature ejaculation.

@@EMan-cu5zo I was sober for 3 years and it made me realise how silly drunk people look and seem, but then I started partying again for a few years, and I was just thinking what an amazing time in my life that was, I stopped 2 years ago now. But it’s one of those things where yes from the outside you look stupid, but the experience you’re having is magical and the memories are priceless. It’s only fun in moderation otherwise your body gets depleted, and that’s why I stopped cause I was drinking too often. But life is about fun and memories and connection. Yes some connection is drug induced or alcohol facilitated, but you will always have those memories and look back like yes I enjoyed all different facets of life and fun and health. Getting older is teaching me that life is about experiences, memories, & connection, and I realise how much time I wasted looking down on things while I was stuck alone in my room by myself for months on end letting life pass me by. I don’t take it too seriously now, and I’m less judgemental of people doing what makes them happy. After all the only person it needs to please is them

@@simsthre4078 congratulations on stopping drinking. I have been sober for about four years now. I was a heavy drinker from 14-36 years old. Towards the last years of drinking I ended up in the hospital constantly and my liver was extremely inflamed and had to get medically detoxed more times than I remember. You are right about just enjoying your life and do whatever you like. As long as it doesn’t infringe on others. I just always thought raves where ridiculous, just my opinion. I have done way more shameful things I’m my life to say anything about others really. Just never liked them myself and I would definitely have to be on hardcore drugs to participate. I was a drinker and opiates addict. Forgot to mention that. I was addicted to pain medication and heroin for a total of about 15 years off and on. Not to long off though. Raves where not really the scene for that type of addict I was way more careless and a accident waiting to happen. Good on you for quitting drinking. I feel alcohol is a extremely dangerous drug and with some people very addictive. Be well.
