I am not usually the type to post soppy comments on people's TH-cam videos but seeing as it is a goodbye to Ru I feel it is deserved. I binge watched your channel at the end of 2017 and was so inspired by what amazing adventures you could achieve in Ru that I impulsively booked a month long road trip around NZ for me and my lil wagon. I had never travelled further than a two hour radius from my hometown, and never camped alone. I packed up my dog, my car and went on the most life changing trip of my life. Now I travel, camp and explore constantly, I moved to a completely different part of the country and realistically it was all because of you showing that one can do it in a car that isn't a fancy self contained van. So I want to thank you for that, and I look forward to the new adventures you have in the new rig!!

It nearly destroyed me and I spent the first several weeks afterward in a state of shock. I couldn’t work and was barely functioning. It was serendipity that one day you showed up in my TH-cam algorithm. I loved watching your adventures and it really gave me a distraction and some peace while grieving. I think everything happens for a reason. You’re a special young lady. I hope you know that. Stay healthy and happy on the road. Be careful with developing bad habits like coffee and Red Bulls all day. Sleep is so important for our physical and emotional health. Anyway, thanks again dear Maria. I work a graveyard shift. I am happy to sleep all day. I only work 10 days a month, but I tend to keep the nightlife schedule. It makes it super easy to stealth camp/park.
That is so awesome you have a brother who not only fixes your car but teaches you how to while he does it. I'd give anything for that. The one thing scaring me the worst about doing this is breaking down or getting stuck with no help or way out. Your family is awesome!
So many miles, memories, and money spent for repairs. But you'll look back someday and say, "Ru, you gave me a wild Roaming Reckless Journey, and it was all worth it". 😘
I have a mini Aussie too(the best dog and freind, ever. In the spring and early winter, he sheds really bad too. I have to brush him down really good. I will end up with a pile of fur that will look like I created another dog. They have long fur as it is. So that doesn't help much with the shedding process. It's definitely Aussie thing.

my dogs molt like crazy in fall dropping long this upper hair and filling in with the lower smaller wool hairs for winter. I just brush like crazy, it helps...sad to see Ru go but glad you will have better rig, im sentimental ,so I get it. bittersweet. but aint that a main theme of the road anyhow.

Love how you keep it real and aren’t afraid to be vulnerable. You’re an old soul. I’m researching and planning a long solo trip in the US and Europe. I’ve been working full time and taking care of my doggo who had cancer. I lost him last month and just decided I need to get away for awhile. He was my best bud and I miss him terribly. 😢 Anyway, have you or do you know of any videos on being a female on the road? Not safety tips…but one that covers girl things like hygiene, periods, skin care, sunscreen, etc. I’m very curious about how solo women travelers handle all of that and can’t seem to find any videos on it. Bugs/spiders HATE mint. I live in a trailer and I spray with water diluted with peppermint or spearmint and it works pretty well. You could do spray your bedding when you need to air it out.

What you could do when you’re airing out the blankets is shake the hair off and then spray Febreeze or Lysol on them and hang them in a tree for 30 minutes

@Roaming Recklass last month in the car LITERALLY CRICKETS and they would go on hwy thinking after I got them off they were gone but no...sunbathing on my trunk,roof and black beetles,nats...after some rain then no more mosquitos or crickets just flies...lol

Wow, you only have to wait weeks for your new rig? I have been on a 6 months waiting list and have about 3 and a half months left, hopefully. Promaster 2500 High Top is on back order, thanks to people like Amazon buying them all up and certain parts that are not available right now. Ugh. Hope to have the vehicle and then in the shop for conversion by February 3rd and on the road again by April. Can't wait to see your new vehicle.

You'll probably see this often when I respond. I love your channel and I want you to be safe. If you run into the wrong person or persons...or a wild animal, you won't have time to think about that weapon you could have had packed on your side. You really should be extra careful. I've watched videos about TH-camrs being approached by strange people when they were alone or with somebody...and worse. I want to see you continue to make these awesome videos. Get you some bear spray and a handgun. Don't walk out of your car without one or the other strapped on your side. You might not be in bear country, but it will stop whatever it needs to stop. Please!

Those types of blankets can be thrown in the wash once a week. You can throw it along with your clothes on a quick cycle and be done within minutes.
