Sometimes those dumpsters are like going into Costco. You go in to buy milk and eggs and paper towels...and come out with a bunch of other great stuff that you didn't even know you needed.

My hubby & I still play backgammon all the time! So much fun! 😍
That "gate" is part of a fence you could lock together to keep you child in an area. It has about 5 or 6 of those panels and the ends lock together. We found one at a yard sale and love it. Keeps children close but in a safe area, away from their little fireplace or range, etc. I hate waste and am so glad you are saving things from our dumps! Many very good things and are needed by others. Good luck!

My old neighbor gave me the same one when we got our Great Dane, because she was raised with it as a puppy to keep her in the kitchen when someone would come in the house she would get so excited and put her weight against it to the point it was practically laying down but, she would never step over it. It used to crack people up. Lol
Hi Steph and Steve, oh, I love backgammon. When I lived in California back in the 70s, that was one I was taught how to play it and I’ve been hooked on it ever since. I play it online just about every night. 😁☺️ I love it when you show the sky and palm trees. It looks so nice out there.

I soak tracks and scrub with wooden brush....just dry out on concrete...great baby gate...Aunt Puddy is so sweet...get loads of chew toys ..we due a grandson in July named Asher...Happy days to us grandies..

I respect and feel for the people coming in the caravans and learn from what I see on tv because I dont know who or what my next life is going to be.
When my son was younger, he had a train track like that, & we glued it to a board so it was easier to store away, & he could just pull it out. I gave it to a work colleague who had a son and daughter .

I we haven’t had dog in20yrs have our son is buying a puppy for us, get him Saturday night. He’s 8wks old & we are going to call him Jock, real Scottish name. He is a miniature dachshund, so excited can’t wait, hope we are as lucky as u. Beyond our wall is river side path nice walk with Jock 5mins from us is beach so plenty of places to go for walk with Jock after he gets his vaccinations, so excited although not looking forward to sleepless nights. We have a grandson coming in July. The 1st boy after 3 girls 2 are my sons 1 is my daughters. The boy is going to be my sons 1st after 2 girls. He’s beyond excited as we are too 😍💙

I used to play Backgammon with my grandma and dad! A lot of Middle Eastern people play it. I could teach you guys LOL. Steve I think you were thinking of badminton. Love Puddy 🐶

The heir inherits the heirloom. Almost all cheap checkerboards used to have a backgammon board on the back, so it was used for two different games.
Be glad that you got the plastic gate. We have the wooden one for our dog and it just came apart. It’s a pain in the butt. We now are going to have to go get a plastic one.

I think that big blue poster with the yellow trophy on it gave me big bird vibes when it was partially covered. Once you uncovered it I realised it wasn’t, but initially it’s what I thought of.

You guys had great finds today...Backgammon is addictive. I learned from my husband 43 years ago. He and his cousins would sit around throwing dice and clicking those "stones" against the wood platform for hours. *I'm extremely competitive so I made him play with me until I was good enough to beat him.* (He'll never admit it.) Anyway, every middle-eastern country in history claims origin on Backgammon including Persia (Iran) According to the Shahnameh, an epic Persian poem, Burzoe, a Persian physicist, invented Backgammon in the form of a game called Nard. Nard plays using the same board as Backgammon only with somewhat different rules. While the Shahnameh dates back to the 11th century, it claims Nard was invented in the 6th century. But, like I said... _everybody claims to have invented it in one form or another!_

I've always wanted to learn Backgammon. About the toys, those pots/lids look just like the ones that we have for our Granddaughter, from Melissa and Doug. I think the BRIO brand did not have the lines across the tracks, and the Thomas ones did. (I was a manager at a Children's specialty store for 2 1/2 years, lol). The trains could be used on either track. Some of those pieces that you found were really expensive back in the day. I would also guess that it was a glued down piece for a store (esp. Barnes and Noble).

When Steve mentioned Big Bird, he may have been talking about the yellow character that was on the blue advertising sign you moved in the dumpster. It looked like an Dr. Suess advertising sign.

As a kid in the 70/80’s it was a genre war between my older sisters in my house, one bedroom room, Shaun Cassidy & Leif Garrett, the living room, Queen & AC⚡️DC, and the basement, Carole King, Peaches and Herb & a whole lot of my sister bellowing the song, “you light up my life” 😂. On the rare occasion I got a turn to play with the stereo I chose, “Chevy van” & “Me and you and a dog named Boo”.
Love Backgammon. Got 3 for Xmas one year. It's really been windy here in CT lately.i think he thought that yellow sign was big bird but it said something about being a shooting star.
