    Wish I'd realised sooner as it happened but me and my wife passed you on the trail coming down into Keswick around mid June - we were on the Cumbria Way going south. You may have heard her shout "hey Dexter" but by then I think you were too far away. Anyway if I had realised in time, I'd have said that I hope you keep making videos and that we've enjoyed the ones you have made a lot. Big inspiration for me doing the Pennine Way last year, and the C2C later this summer. We were sick at the time anyway so probably for the best that we didn't stop you there!

      Hey man. Thanks so much for this comment. I'm so sorry I didn't catch you shouting hello, if you ever see me again definitely stop me. Would love to chat about all things Cumbria Way and Pennine Way!
      I would really love to get back into the videos. The last few years I've been focusing on shorter trails with friends that I didn't film. BUT me and my partner are hoping to head out to do The Colorado Trail next year - I'll definitely put something together for that I think! 🎉
      Cheers again!

    While I'm super proud of this hike it's highly likely there is a quicker historic unsupported time. C2C is 47 years old! If you know of any old forgotten walk reports please send me the details and I would love to help the information resurface.
    Autumn 2023 Update: Congrats to Jonathan Price who smashed my time to pieces this May!

      Not sure pal, I've been asking around and talking to a few of the old heads in the fell running community. I think you would be hard pressed to find anyone who did it truly "unsupported". Face facts, you are a legend.

      Your humility is incredible dude! It’s called Fastest Known Time for a reason, no one is known to have completed this walk unsupported quicker than you! Can’t down play that. I completed the walk in 8 days 4 hours last month so can relate to the journey, hats off to you. You’ve inspired me for sure, hoping to have a shot at your time in the next couple of years. Well done Dexter!

    I think in the video you mention you were running for some portions of it, how often would you break into a run? And for how long?

    • @easydexter
      @easydexter  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Ed, the plan in my mind was to gradually increase the running as my pack got lighter as I ate more food. In reality I ran some flat and gradual down hill sections on the first 3 days a few minutes at a time. My legs were too battered and tight by the last couple of days despite the lighter pack. I’d guess I probably ran no more than 6 miles over the whole trip. Im a very average speed walker too so had to pull some long days to get the miles in. Exploring the middle ground between ultra running and long distance hiking is definitely something I’m interested in though.

    What does it mean by 'unsupported'?. I understand that you carry your stuff and no one helps but, does it have to be on your own? Can you visit shops on the way for food, drink etc? can you camp in pub gardens, campsites? Or do you have to carry all food and wild camp? wonder what the wild camping in the moors is like as i've not researched it

    • @easydexter
      @easydexter  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Michael, thanks for checking out the video. I didn't visit any shops and wild camped the entire way. I only ate foot I started with and only collected water from natural sources. I didn't even use any bins and carried all my rubbish to the end. Have a look at the fastest known time website for the exact definitions. Wild camping in the North Yorkshire Moors was super easy!

This is my itinerary. Stay at Moor Row overnight, get a taxi down to the beach at 6.15. Day 1 - wildcamp near the slate mine. Day 2 - Wildcamp at Haweswater Res. Day 3 - wildcamp top of nine standards. Day 4. Hotel in Richmond. Day 5 - wildcamp in Ingelby Forest. Day 6 - wildcamp somewhere near Egton Bridge and day 7 arrive at rhb and get on the beers. Me and my 3 mates are strong walkers and recently did yorkshire three peaks in 7:45hours. We don’t doubt our levels but if anyone can give us any insight or cast any doubts I’m kean to hear. Thanks.
