My best friend is joining the Missionaries of Charity. This world isn't home for her so she needs to go, but I'm already home. It is heart-wrenching surrendering her to the Lord but "freedom isn't life without loss and healing isn't the absence of scars." He takes our pain and glorifies it. I don´t actually get the lyrics... but could it have a biblical reference? Like "14 years ago I left to wound a friend" - Abraham? "you took my name after you wrestled me" - Jacob?... or "sure I kissed you but I´m walking with a limp" - would it be too crazy to think this is a reference to Judas? And the rest seems like just some beautiful poetic words... It doesn´t need to be like that, just curious :) The song is really beautiful and peaceful.
It probably would be all about Jacob. Jacob served his uncle Laban for 14 years to get married with Rachel. God took his name, Jacob, and gave him a new name, Israel. and Israel kissed his brother Esau after he bowed to his older brother seven times, cause Esau had prepared to kill Israel-Jacob with 300 men for his defraudation. But Israel got a bad limp at the fight with God because God hit his hip socket. So maybe this scene that after long years, now old and badly limping brother bowing to him 7 times, moved Esau's heart. So, the song is about Jacob who finally came back home after rough time.
