Nowadays you can wear pretty much what you want as long as you don't look drunk or homeless
A while back I almost got my mates stag party rejected from a club in Cardiff. The bouncer goes “nah, wrong footwear mate” to which I replied “mate, they aren’t gonna make me dance any shitter than I would in shoes” and hey presto he let us in 🤣
Was coming back from a open air concert/festival in Slovakia pretty late at night. Got a taxi, lucky, but there were 6 of us and only seating for 3/4. And another taxi wasn't going to be coming any time soon. So, we had the driver. One passenger in the passenger seat. Three passengers crammed onto the back seat. One laying across their laps and one in the boot (trunk). Gave the driver a few extra Crowns (Koruna) and he was up for it. We had to try to keep as low a profile as possible and fingers crossed, because if we got pulled over, we'd all be in trouble, but the driver most of all. On the way back we actially saw, by the roadside, a car that had been pulled over and was being checked by the police. They knew about the festival and were pulling over cars checking for drink drivers (drink driving is almost considered a participant sport in Slovakia. Big drinking culture). The guy in the boot kept banging, we kept have to keep telling him to STFU, you're attracting attention. Fun times.

Where did you go then to clubs back then? Cause where I hit the clubs in Northern England they didn't really care. Many used to wear trainers in clubs
