Emily Reeshowlett listen, let live give you a bird. please stay away from breeders...adopt a bird please. I have cats but I've converted my husband to a bird lover. he would like an Indian ringneck or an african gray. we can't get a bird for a variety of reasons BUT if GOD sends one to us, we'll watch movies with him often!!
Oh I won't actually be getting a bird any time soon unfortunately, I travel a lot and also have two cats. So I just live through marleen for now hahaha

The blankets! The napkins! We also have baby wipes on hand. We just have a little parakeet but we've trained her over the past several months to poop only on or in her cage. She isn't allowed on soft furniture and knows she can't hang out there. She is allowed on hard surfaces like the tv stand, coffee table... And our shoulders. We have a bunch of perches everywhere and she can fly upstairs back to her cage whenever she wants. I'm home all day (I'm disabled) and I've had the time to train her. I love all of your tips.
I know this is an old vid...but TH-cam suggested it, so here i am. I can relate to this 100%. We also have a huge blanket we lay across the bed every night where our birds can play on with their toys and boxes. They make such a mess with the boxes...so at the end of the night, we just carefully wrap up the blanket with all of the cardboard mess and set it aside. In the morning, i just open up and fan out the blanket onto the floor and sweep up the debris😊👍 fortunately, most of our birds prefer to do poopies off of the bed (we have wood flooring so it makes for easy cleanup)🤗👍💖 enjoyed watching one of your older vids 💖💖💖

Baby wipes work amazingly well for this purpose instead of just paper towels. Even if a bird poops on you or anywhere else.
We keep them in each room too!

I love those soft velour like blankets!! They're good for all animals. Even human ones I sleep with one. Soft & light GREAT for hot flashy human. Lol
We have flocks of wild Galahs (like Vinnie) and Sulphur Crested Cockatoos (Jersey) and Rosellas where I live, and they are so destructive but funny to watch. Very intelligent birds, and lots of excess energy. My grandfather's Cocky used to bite at anything wooden in the house if he was bored or in a mood, so the eaves outside got chewed up, as did the aerial wires.
They really are so much like kids who stop doing whatever you want to record while you are holding the camera. 😂😂😂
That is so hilarious! He is imitating your body language. You talk with your hands when you talk so he is spreading his wings to talk with his hands/wings. Haha. It is so cute. He is a mini you.
i love videos like these cause the tips convert to other animals too . i have a rabbit and shes really young but because of you i managed to train her to stop biting people !!!

Lol, I would always do the blanket covers when I had my pet rats out! Anytime I took them out on my bed/couch I always had blankets specifically for them, so they could play and run around without making messes.
I was actually going to ask about snacks lol but you covered it. If you want to limit your snack intake have a parrot around. 😂😂😂😅😅😅

Dogs and some animals have instincts to sense when someone with evil intentions are around you. Mostly they won't let such people come near their humans. Did you ever experience such protective behavior from your birds and later thanked them?
I wish there were tips on how to take a fiver from your bird lol. my cockatoo has to be part of EVERYTHING. Cooking, cleaning, going for a walk, laundry.. doesn't matter. He's coming in with and having a job of his own or he'll absolutely lose it and stamp around pitching a giant toddler fit. 😂😂😍
Marlene, I know this is an old video, but why not have heavy duty, like saddle leather, couches? I have leather, although I only have one little Quaker, but if she does go poopoo, no worries! So easy to clean. I keep a white t towel nearby for my shoulder. I have lots! Lol and instead of paper towels. I buy 60 cent 4 packs of toilet paper at Walmart . And yes, me too! To or paper towels are amazing busy toys for distracting busy beaks!
Yes! I use those blankets over the back of my leather office chair to stop Gandy from chewing. I wrap packing tape once around it to keep it from slipping

I had my back up blankets, my travel vac that i kept in a go birdbag for if we went somewhere, along w 1 for home, towels, etc. I liked going to goodwill n buying sheets that i wld put around the cages on the floor and hang on the walls behind cages and stands, etc. I ALSO USE THOSE FUZZY PLUSH BLANKETS FOR MY BIRDS. I use them on my beds as well. But i hv LOTS of them.
These are some good tips
Baby wipes instead of paper towels helps with clean up better I’ve found ,like a small wet cloth u can throw away,use unscented ones.

My new parrot Drago watches tv. He is new to my home and I am trying to make him feel loved. lots of treats and attention. Glad I'm a grungy ole artiest, my house is chewed up by my pets.

I have that woven wrap charger and I love it!
I've toilet trained my Galah so he only poops on the smooth coffee table which is easy to clean with a tissue, every 20 mins or so I put him on the table and say "go poop" and he will go if he needs to after a couple of times he does not then I know he is not ready yet.

The reason the blankets clean up so well is cause they are polyester which is a fabric made out of plastic.
Have to laugh: what is it with parrot species birds and buttons on controls and keyboard keys? My budgie goes after my keyboard keys like they were enemy infantry troops.If I try to interfere she tries to bite me. No big deal, her bite is harmless. But it is funny how they get so aggressive toward buttons on phones and controllers and keyboard keys.I think they see those things a competing with them for our attention. Great video, Marlene. They want to manipulate anything with moving parts that fit int6o their beaks. My African Brown head hates my mouse because I "pet" it to often.
You just make parrot soup if they destroy it, good for your diet
Jack N I have a deal with the cable company, finally get free remotes! I try but sometimes she's quicker than me. I randomly find my keyboard keys or tablet keys missing, usually found after I upgrade them! It's always something! :)
I often dry towels on doors. Birds fly into the door and chew the towel. Now I have holes in half of my towel. Ah the joys of bird owning.

Its crazy that parrots chew on your stuff but Parakeets don't do this type of stuff. I have had a few parakeets when I was a kid growing up and they never chewed on anything of mine. I just hope one day I can have a couple of more parakeets one day. I pray to God I do one day.
This video is perfect! I have had birds for years, so when you brought out the paper towel, my eyes lit up because I had the same piece of napkin with me as I was watching!

lol, you are so right. I've had to replace my pc mouse at least four times, because it only takes BoJay a few seconds to chew off any buttons or rubber.

If you don’t have access to dishwashing liquid on the fly, just use a makeup wipe. They will work on fabric.

I, personally, can’t get enough details when it comes to cleaning up bird poop. So I need every detail I can get. Please make videos about poop JUST for people like me, cause I know that I’m not the only one...😳😁👍

Do you have a roomba? I love mine, saves so much time cleaning up after the birds. Poop off is a godsend as well, though my conures hate the sprayer,lol.

you can by a bird flysuit or a bird diaper. it is a good item and has different styles and colors.
it is much easier for playful and so active birds those discover every inch of the house and be everywhere.
you can also make your own flysuit for your bird.

Maybe you can do a video on air quality (purifiers), especially when you have 3 birds that dander (Jersey, Vinny and the African Grey). Is there more dust in the home? Dust in the computer keyboard, allergies, etc
What about a video on water? Tap, spring, reverse osmosis, distilled, or an alkaline purifier? Please post more.

My African grey seems to be getting the hang of go potty. Or it's just perfect timing as he does it as soon as I say it. I've had him 6weeks and he won't come near me. I've been told to wrap him in a towel and hold him with me for around 30 minutes. He's a very aggressive bird too. Is this the right thing to do. I've tried playing with him but he just chucks everything on the floor. I don't know what type of life he had before I got him. He's 8 years old and he's already had two previous owners. He has a new cage and lots of new toys. I give him lots of treats. He will take treats from me. Also what's the best treat to give him. He's very fussy and only likes almonds, walnuts and grapes. He doesn't seem to like anything else I give him. I've tried palm nuts, pine nuts lots of different fruit and vegetables.
you can also have baby wipes around the house to use for convienance.

We have a Greenwing macaw who has never been in the cage also an African sound ago and they both watch TV with us. The green wing has never pooped on me ever. I put her stand every hour, she poops immediately and the wats to get back down. She falls asleep in my lap almost every night.
Soooooo I’m thinking of getting a baby jenday conure... he/she is still being hand fed and I think I’m going to do my research before I even *think* of hand feeding but I wanted to do that so I can create a very strong bond with the bird because I’m planning on free flight training. If there is anything major I need to know than feel free to tell me.

hey, i would love to watch tv with my parrot but it is completely impossible for us! i am not worried about him pooping around cause his trained to poop on his personal little tree in the living room, he's not even chewing or destroying so much around (exept cables and buttons ), but when i watch tv he would step up on it, start singing, then talking really loud, then flying all the way around and getting really anxious and start shouting . any tips???
