Anthony Murphy reads from a piece he wrote about the collapse of Mellifont Abbey and the renaming of Newgrange. This article is the basis of a chapter in Anthony's new book, called 'Mythical Ireland: New Light on the Ancient Past'. You can purchase a signed copy of the book online at www.mythicalir...
"Síd in Broga slumbered in the shade for great ages of this world, and through many times of turbulence and transformation the áes sídhe kept a quiet watch on the comings and goings of kings and chieftains and religious orders from the unknown hidden realms beyond its doorway.
"And so, in the dying light of an apparently vanquished Dé Danann world, the sidhe which had kept hushed for centuries its remarkable secret of hidden realms and banished gods had even been made to suffer the ignominy of the loss of its name.
Is it too bold a proposition to suggest that Newgrange be given back its old name? If we call it Síd in Broga once again, perhaps those diminutive fairies will arise in us as the unvanquished gods of our better nature, ready to bring light back to a somewhat darkened world.

Wonderful fusion of archaeology and inspirational theology. The sidhe yet live; and it is time to restore the name.

There is great power in names, I believe. Síd in Broga would be a welcome name change for Newgrange, indeed. Of course, the power only ever comes from what we give it, but that does not diminish the energy inherent for the people who hold to particular words or names.

    Great work Anthony!
A very powerful and poetic presentation,
All of your work on these ancient myths and historical topics have been excellent,
your approach and delivery is highly informative and i find many of your view points to be very logical, well thought out and brilliantly researched , ive been following your work for a good few years now and i dont think there is anybody else in Ireland right now that has produced such an overall "clear picture" of our ancient mythology gathered and presented in one place (Mythical Ireland) i have yet to see anyone as knowledgeable and as driven about such matters!
Plus the photography, videography and music for your videos are highly entertaining!
Yes i reckon Sid in Broga would be a great change back for the better!
it would give the site a greater meaning and allure!

Clan Atlantic Thanks indeed for the lovely comment. A longer version of this is contained in a chapter of my book, 'Mythical Ireland: New Light on the Ancient Past'.

Go raibh maith agat. I have often wondered how the incorrect term Newgrange came about. As you were speaking I thought, why not change it back? And then you said the exact same thought.

Very intersting Anthony, I would love to see the old name restored, perhaps it would pacify the Old Gods and they would bless this ancient land again.

That was really beautiful. These places are so important and I can't help but wonder at the way that more of our ancestors' sacred landscapes are being revealed all the time, and that they are coming into our lives and consciousness a lot more too. Great work, Anthony. :)

There is great creative power in a name. If your soul tells you to restore the sacred name, just do it. Use it. Refer to the place in common conversation by its restored name. Petition the authorities and get signatures of support for the change. May your efforts and those of the supporters be blessed.

I was taken down here, for no good reason whatsoever: I referenced, "The Fairy-Faith in Celtic Countries," by W.Y. Evans-Wentz," doctor thesis, Oxford, 1911 see 1981 reprint, in disagreement with certain facts in this video. In taking me down, you took down the "comment" of a Tuatha De Danann 'rebirth' Incarnate, who was born into the "inner-circle" of the Chicago La Cosa Nostra November 1951, for I am the 'last Capone,' and Mr. Accardo's Godson (and a Johannite too, who evolved into my Nation's Templar Sherlock Holmes, Crimefighter; whose life is on a Templar Journey on the Sea of Murder), who was born not Italian, but from my Grandmother's bloodline from Scotland, the Tuatha De Danann: we are both Tuatha De Danann Incarnates, Grandma died in Feb. of 1986, the Ancient Celtic blood emerged in both of our births, that the US Government is aware of. The Tuatha De Danann, the sons Mil (or Milesians), the Pwyll (if I am spelling their name correct) migrated from Ancient Egypt, not Spain or anywhere else: The Tuatha De Danann originated from the Celtic Lands around 4000-4500 B.C. in a migration to Ancient Egypt's 'exordium,' as a consequence of an Ice Age making life in the Celtic Lands inhabitable (I use the dating of Mr. Budge and not current Institutional dating that has no certainty to it): 'tis where the "Followers of Horus" had built the Great Pyramid for its Practitioners, the Wizards of the Tuatha De Danann, the 'Rulers' over the "Feast of the Dead," i.e., Ancient Egypt's New Year, had migrated first out of Egypt after Ramses II died, a Century later the sons of Mil followed (or Milesians), then the Pwyll resulting in the collapse of Ancient Egypt by Ramses III 150-yrs. later in the 21st Dynasty, after Ranses II's reign of the 19th Dynasty: the Ancient bloodlines having moved out, the Cult of Ra, inherited the Egyptian State from the Cult of the Dead i.e., the OSIRIS, who took the Ancient Magic with them, resulting in Ancient Egypt being conquered by "six foreign Nations" during the last 1000-years of Ancient Egypt's Dynastic period: the Cult of Ra over taxed the Egyptian State resulting in weakening the State ripe for conquest by Ramses III's era. In short, Newgrange was built for the Cult of the Dead, i.e., the Tuatha De Danann, and is that "secret place" expressed in the "Prayer of Nephthys" whose internal cosmological-Ancient esoteric Symbolism, is on the back-side of the Great Seal of these United States on backside of the US one dollar bill: Ancient Egypt's New Year, the "Feast of the Dead," whose 'esoteric-Symbolism,' appears at 'sunrise' on the morning of the Winter Solstice in the 'inside' of the Solar Chamber of Newgrange in the form of a cosmological-Ancient esoteric Symbology: the star Sothis, at the Ancient Egyptian New Year, perches itself on top of the Great Pyramid at its 'heliacal rising' in July, simultaneously, as the Nile rises to it High Water Mark till the Winter Solstice in December, when and where the Nile flips to its Low Water cycle: a cosmological-phenomenon that took place for 3,000 years the whole Dynastic period, then stops. No explanation for the "Supernatural phenomenon." Good King Dagda of Newgrange knows me very well indeed, for I am the Wizard Librarian of the Great Library of Truth, in the Great Hall of Maati, where Asar Un-nefer (YHWH-OSIRIS) presides on His Throne in the "City of the White Bull," above the 'firmament.' "The Lord reigneth; let the earth rejoice!": Salve Regina.

What about that picture with the two suns above it? Or two moons?Or the sun and the moon together? At first glimpse it looked quite normal, but then I realised: We only have one sun or one moon. Maybe it's an artificial light...

It seems that the true Irish and the Jews have a significant immortality. No matter what tragedy befalls them, they will overcome and rise again.

I can’t help to be me drawn to the surrounding areas of the henges rather than the henges themselves. All these ancient stories have a common theme and it isn’t tombs.

Síd is a fairy mound or otherworld mound. Broga is from brug, which means an abode or mansion.
