Middle bird loses an eye at 03:10 .. you can see it fall through the branches and get stuck in the branches right below his head. I was wondering why he got injured so badly/stopped moving/died.
Looks like the chicks had lost one of their parents (killed by accident or by predators) and the parent left could do nothing against the other nesting couple.

If I've learned anything from watching enough of these videos it's that the parents of birds, well perhaps putting up an initial defense, certainly are not willing to risk their health and certainly not their lives on a particular set of babies. And, you really can't blame them, as a week or two from an attack they'll live to lay another few eggs and everything starts all over again. No particular baby is more valuable than that.
I was shocked to see that his nest was being built 2 freaking feet away. It’s like your neighbors barging in, killing your kids and walking out with your furniture to use right next door. Those babies were fighters though 😔

Amazing that, after taking a serious beating from the large bird, that the chicks are still alive and survived. #3 chick was the most aggressive until it was hit hard in the head several times and just fell over. The larger chick seemed to be chicken, and wasn't very aggressive.
I don't think they all survived. The others looked critically wounded. These look like herons, and they stab at the neck and head to break prey sometimes.

Never seen that behavior in any animal or birds. Killing just for the nesting material. There could be others, just haven't them. I know cuckoo birds lay their eggs in other birds nests, but the cuckoo hatchling does the killing.
