Love seeing women of color in healthcare 😭 I just accepted an offer for a labor and delivery nurse residency with opportunities on some days to float to their level 3 NICU. And I’m a new grad! I said hell no to med surg from the start 🤷‍♀️ I know what I want.

Juliet A way to go girl!! I graduate in 5 weeks and I just accepted a position as a graduate nurse for a level 3 NICU! I was the same way, no med surge here 🙅🏻‍♀️

CONGRATS!!! We’re going to do great. I hope these comments and this video can inspire fellow new grads to not let older nurses bully them into specialties they DONT want.

Welcome to the squad I’ve been labor nurse for four years. Remember to breath, take it one shift at a time and don’t let people push you around. Oh and keep going back...this will make sense later lol you got this.

    Bless the nicu nurses ❤️
My son was a micro preemie. Born at 23 weeks he’s 5 now.
Being a nurse is completely different than being a mother there every day.
We think with our hearts Nicu nurses think logic So in a sense we help each other out.
In the six months being up in the nicu I miss approximately six days.
It is a underground world that no mother should witness. I feel like giving back just because of what I endured I have a soft spot for Nicu babies an special needs.

I love how you described your job in this video as a Level 4 NICU Nurse. I’m currently a medical assistant but I’m planning to go back to school to do nursing, I’ve seen too many nurses talk about their job in a negative way and it was a bit discouraging. I love how you kept it real but also lit up when you explained the type of things that you see at work I can definitely tell you have a passion for nursing ❤️ I want to become an RN and work in the level 1 NICU

Thank you for explaining the various illnesses and conditions that the babies have. There is more variety than I imagined! This makes me more interested but also more sad for the babies ☹️
Overall, I feel so much more educated. Thank you so much!!!

I knew after watching your video I don't want to be a nicu nurse anymore. Just imagining the after life care for babies that passed or case of abuse with babies this is too insane for me to handle. I'd be depressed in 1 day and I can't take it. It's too much for me. I appreciate your honesty and now I'll be able to focus in another area. Thank you!! This is the more in depth video I saw on nicu nurses

This video was great! I just completed my BSN last week and just today accepted a position for a NICU internship starting February! I'm super excited and can't even believe that I got accepted! Like you said, I know there's lots to learn and I can't help feeling overwhelmed! How did your orientation go and when did you start feeling more confident when it comes to skills?
Thanks! And congrats on your now 2 years of being a nurse! :)

I just accepted an offer to work in a level IV NICU and I’m super excited. I’ve been a Mother/Baby RN for the past 3 years and have floated to the NICU to care for feeders and growers so my training will be condensed and cut in half to 8 weeks 😳 However, I cannot wait for my new journey as a full blown NICU nurse. 😍QUESTION: Is there a NICU pharmacology book you’d recommend? Thank you for the video!

I’m in the medical field and some of that stuff is foreign LOL... but I have an interview for our NICU floor on Tuesday. I’m nervous and I’m second-guessing myself. I’ve been nursing for 10 years but this will be whole new world for me. I’ve always worked with adults but always dreamed of working with babies...and I will love the intensity of the ICU.

NICU mom here who had 29 weeker Twin girls. One had IUGR and they had to be born early. I can honestly say Nicu nurses can make or break new moms. I will never forget the one mean nurse who was mean to me telling me I couldnt Kangaroo care with my baby because her temp was low. Now..Understand that I understand how Important her temp was but when youre a mom of Nicu twins you are stressed to the max and very emotional. Thank God my aunt was a nurse and floated to the nicu and had friends that made that experience better. My girls were 3'7 & 1'4. Thank you for your dedication and devotion. Have compassion for the families! I am 41 years old and will start my prereqs In January.
